Yeah, Yeah… it’s Friday the 13th (You May Want to Watch Your Step)…

(thanks, oldhollywoodtrailers!)

You may as well get some entertainment as you’re dodging black cats and ladders with buckets on them, right? However, if you’re bopping down the street reading this on your phone or tablet, there’s an open manhole waiting to say “Hello!”. What, you’re laughing at that trailer above because it’s old and not so scary? OK, I’ve got you now:

(thanks, justontime100!)

What, you have some good luck left? Grrrr… ZAP!

(thanks, VEVO!)

Hmmm… no? Still feeling lucky, punk? OK, try this:

(thanks, kanizu00!)

Yeah, the lady ALWAYS wins… Enjoy that banana peel slide into traffic.

A Friendly Reminder From AMC (Plus A Chance To Chase or Be Chased)…

TWD_S4

Just a friendly reminder that The Walking Dead kicks off Season 4 on October 12, 2013. If you’d like to give yourself a mild heart attack before that day and you’re in the NYC area, feel free to check out The Walking Dead Escape, the LIVE event where you can be a Survivor or Walker as you either try to make it through a tricky obstacle course or try to stop people from doing so.

As awesome as that latter event sounds… I won’t be attending, as I value my life too much to be trampled to death by some screaming fans. However, YOU can register and step up to the plate and have the time of your life. Have fun if you do go and if you’re a Walker, don’t even think of wearing that makeup job you get on the subway or anywhere else in the city. We’re crazy enough here without having to get freaked out by some grinning tourist dressed as a zombie. And you don’t want to run into a crazed homeless guy who thinks it’s the “REAL” zombie apocalypse and decides to do you in with that shopping cart he’s pushing around (ouch!)…

BUY! Ridiculous Indie Bundles Galore From All Over!

With so much other stuff going on here I’m having a stupidly difficult time keeping up with all the deals going on in the indie game space, so I’ll just list what’s in my inbox here in a single post and let you all have at it. There are some REALLY great titles in these bundles, so definitely check one or all of them out, especially since (with the exception of all those Square-Enix/Eidos titles if you buy them all) you’re basically able to get the bulk of these titles NOW for much less than the cost of a AAA title at retail or via a digital download service.

Ready? OK, here we go:

BUNDLE STARS (Indie Rush Bundle)!

Oh, that’s not all – I’m just sending you below the jump so I can save space on this page for more of my scribblings…

New Rollers of the Realm Trailer: “We’ve Got The Biggest Balls of Them All!”

Okay, I really couldn’t think of anything pinball related, thanks to a slight cold coming on and my head being a little fuzzier than usual. “Thankfully” that old AC/DC tune happened to pop into my head and here you go. Anyway, Rollers of the Realm looks even more polished in this trailer and thanks to all the folks voting for it on Steam Greenlight, the game is becoming even more eagerly anticipated. Phantom Compass (and friends) expect to have this one ready to go before the year is out and as a longtime Pinball fanatic, I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.

BUY!: The Elder Scrolls Anthology Out Now, Dishonored GOTY Coming in October

TES_anthology front (Custom)As noted in my earlier post, Bethsoft is making sure you KNOW The Elder Scrolls series is a force to be reckoned with (or they at least want you to stay home a LOT more that you normally do). Their awesome $79.99 box set, The Elder Scrolls Anthology stormed into retail on the 10th (here in North America, $89.99 in Canada, European territories this Friday for €59.99 / £49.99 / $89.99 AUD) and YES, you need to buy this just for the hundreds of hours of adventuring plus the chance to make some of your own content if you so desire.

There’s a ton of stuff in that box to discover, so make this one your big gift to that favorite RPG fan (or for yourself if you want to become one).

In other Bethsoft news, October 8 marks the release date of Dishonored: Game of the Year Edition (whee!), which means I need to pick this one up as well:

Dishonored GOTY

As for what’s in THIS box, well, read on (below the jump!):

GoDANCE_Logo

GO DANCE icon_tempGot two bucks handy and an iPhone or iPad? Of course you do! Like to dance? Absolutely (even though you only do it when no one is around. Yes, I do KNOW these things). Good. Go get GO DANCE, Sega’s new app that’s a pure blast of fun bound to liven up any get together with some cool dancing and plenty of competitive action.

While that budget price point means only two songs are included with the app (LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem and Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass, more tracks are available (Flo Rida’s Wild Ones and Avicii’s Levels) as in-App purchases and more are on the way. The game uses the front-facing camera on your device to scan and track your face and torso allowing for some great and realistic dance action from your customizable onscreen avatar.

Import News… From The Future!: Earth Defense Force PS4 Bound

EDF_PS4

Given the formerly budget priced series’ loyal following since it appeared as part of the Simple 2000 lineup on the PlayStation 2, it was pretty much a given that D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot would be bringing gamers a new EDF game on Sony’s upcoming console. Import gaming site Siliconera reports that there’s a game in the works, which is awesome to hear. No news on how far in development it is, who’s making it (no doubt it’ll be Sandlot’s first title on the new hardware) or what the intended release date is.

Of course, just hearing this news is enough for me and I’m hoping Sandlot can finally make an EDF game with a stable frame rate when the going gets tough on those crazier maps. Granted, the series is known for its sometimes wonky technical issues (that don’t stop the games from being a hell of a lot of FUN, mind you), but given the PS4’s power under the hood, it would be fantastic to see a locked in 30 or even 60fps in the new game even with all those giant bugs, robots and buildings blowing up into assorted pieces. OK, I’ll take a solid 30 at this point, as even thinking of double that is a bit of a pipe dream unless Sandlot gets some help in optimizing whatever engine they’ll be utilizing. I’d gather it’ll be an all new in-house bit of tech, as the EDF 4 engine had some issues on the PS3 that weren’t in the Xbox 360 version of EDF 4.

As usual, we shall see… stay tuned for updates.

And NO, Dream C Club: Host Girls On Stage is most likely NOT coming to North America. Like it or not, that’s TOO niche for even D3PoA to even consider unless they want to sell something like 5000 or so copies of a game (at most) and be happy with that.

Gravity TV Spot 2: Science For Dummies (As A Tease, At Least)…

If you aced that science class in school, you’re probably a little upset that right after the words NO SOUND appear in both the Gravity trailers and TV ads, there is indeed SOUND IN SPAAAAAAACE! there in the form of a big BOOM! and the noise of stuff rattling about. Welp, kids… that’s just wrong, but it’s been confirmed that there is indeed NO sound in the final film. Yes, the trailers and other ads are made for people who need that aural bump to get those thrills. That is all. Go see this – it looks phenomenal.

Random Art: Stuff to Not Wake Up and See #5 (Collect ‘em All!)

succubus lich

If you’re going by the dictionary definition (well, a modern dictionary) or watch too much Cinemax, the idea of the humble Succubus going about her nightly work might actually sound a bit too thrilling to some of the guys out there (she’s SO sassy!), but you may want to pay attention. Or at least wish you paid MORE attention back in school.

Allow me to learn you by stealing my own quote here:

There’s nothing like running into one of these ladies of the evening, which just so happen to be the possessed (and extremely pissed off) corpses of mistreated ladies of the evening.

Unlike your garden variety succubus, these much more evil things aren’t going to try and lure you in with batting eyelashes and swivel-hipped strolling. Let’s just say you’re not going to forget your first time, as it’ll be your last (and yep, it’s going to hurt quite a lot)…

So, yeah… Pleasant Dreams (BTW, just keep the window shut and maybe wear something with lavender sprinkled on it. Succubi HATE lavender)…
