Resident Evil Makes A Return In 2015 For “Old” & New Consoles, PC

residentevil_consoledownload_small_icon_esrb_jpg_jpgcopyOne of the MOST requested (if not THE most requested) Capcom games fans have wanted to see remade for HD consoles has been the original Resident Evil and it looks as if those rabid folk are getting their wish granted and in a big way. Well, provided you own a PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One or a decent gaming PC. Capcom is set to release a beefed-up HD version of the 2002 GameCube remake of the 1996 original as a digital-only purchase.

That particular version improved the visuals and added many changes to the old game and is considered by some (and me, of course) to be the definitive version of the classic survival horror/action game. Featuring traditional or direct control schemes, 1080p support on next-gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One and of course, PC) and all the content from the 2002 game intact, this could be the definitive remake that also introduces new fans to the long-running series.

Unfortunately, there’s no word of a Wii U version, which is unusual given the 2002 game was made for a Nintendo console. Of course, the Wii U’s sales and Capcom perhaps realizing that they’d probably spend more money on that version than they’d make back means chances are slim we’ll see this on Nintendo’s latest console. It could also be the download size issue and the cost of getting this onto a disc release (and selling a set amount of physical copies) also mucking things up a bit.

That’s show business, kids – but Wii U and Wii U game sales need a nice jump upwards so publishers see the system is worth getting games like this on automatically. Granted, the console IS indeed getting a bunch of excellent titles this year and next… but this doesn’t look like it will be one of them unless something magical happens and it arrives (with some nice GamePad enhancements in tow).

As always, we shall see… we shall see. For now however, this one’s going to be played by plenty of people who didn’t buy a Game Cube but have always wanted to get their paws on a controller and experience Evil in a whole new way.

Some (Trouble-Free) Adventurezator Impressions…

So, I haven’t gotten into much trouble at all with the beta version of Pigasus Game’s awesome Adventurezator, but I’m certainly having a blast playing around with this game creation kit in progress. While it needs a bit more work before it’s ready for prime time, as an easy to use adventure game creation tool, it’s coming along quite nicely. In the current build, it’s best to play the included scenario-based game just to see how the inventory and object interaction work before diving into the editing function and getting all “I’ve got a story!” on this software. Creating characters (or “actors”, but you don’t have to call them that because you’re not paying them and they’re not making ends meet as wait staff somewhere) is super simple (although the game needs more variety in hairstyle and clothing options) and you can even whip up masks using your own image files if you’re feeling really creative… Continue reading

Monday Still Not Working For You? How About A Trip To The Dentist To Cheer You Up?

(thanks, GoodOldDaysReturns!)

Yeah, I figured that would work. Actually, I’d bet that watch this under any stressful situation, you’ll just feel less stressed. Maybe. Unless you’re actually sitting in that dentist’s chair, he strolls up as you’re grinning like a loon, is NO fan of old musical numbers and thinks you’re making fun of his profession. You’d better hope that he doesn’t “accidentally” extract the good teeth you have left and leave the bad ones is all I’m saying…

Interstellar Trailer #3: Brainy Blockbuster Alert…

Chris Nolan’s upcoming sci-fi drama Interstellar certainly looks as if will be quite the ride, but not of the many explosions per second and impossible close calls galore variety. Although, amusingly enough some of that stuff seems to be in this new trailer (out of proper context, I’m gathering). Already, some of the film is telegraphing itself (this looks like a one way trip and the fate of humanity depends on this mission’s success), but par for the course here, I’m not going to let a trailer decide whether or not I like an entire film. I’m kind of immune to most trailers these days, no matter how cool they look or sound thanks to some films being less enjoyable to sit through for longer than the running time of the average trailer. Or am I just being a cranky cynic here? Again.

Anyway, November will tell all about this one and I can certainly wait until then. Heck, my plate is pretty full as it is, so a little suspense will do me good.

BUY IT: Another (Mon)day, Another $1.79 IndieGala Bundle…

IndieGala Monday 8_3_2014

This one’s a no-brainer just because it has a Giana Sisters game on it, but there are a few other indies that make this a fine way to spend that buck seventy-nine. Guise of the Wolf looks like a fine first-person adventure game, I recall Helldorado being a nifty western game with a fun combat system, and everything else I’ve yet to play… but how can you NOT want to try them at this price? Of course, this deal only lasts for the first 24 hours before the bundle price jumps up and scares you out of your wits (a little). So grab these games if your boat has been floated…

Coming Sooooon: Attack of the Extremely Killer “B’s!”

Gaaaaah. I got nothing of importance done today because I was watching a bunch of really interesting “bad” movies, a bunch of which I’ve either not seen in AGES or at all, thanks to my brother going through his movie files and a stack of DVDs. You know what that means, right? RIGHT! More Random Films of the Week incoming! Expect a visit from Mister Freedom first and foremost, as it’s a film I’d heard about quite a few times, but never got to see until today. It’s completely nuts and probably the best and wildest costumed antihero flick I’ve ever seen. It’s also crude, a bit racist and slightly raunchy, but that all makes it work so well.

Anyway, there’s more than that on the pile of stuff to scribble abut, so stick around and see what happens. Well, other than me scrambling like MAD to catch up to all the work I’ve missed. *Sigh*…

Funko’s Universal Pop! Horror Collection Wants To Creep Into Your Home…

Dracu Pop Franken Pop Bride of Pop Wolf Pop Mummy Pop Lagoon Pop Mutant Pop Phantom Pop

Well, aren’t these all TOO cute? Funko’s upcoming Universal Monsters Pop! Vinyl figures will be popping up at your favorite comic shops and online retailers in September and yep, I’m betting you’ll want them ALL in your collection. Of course, you don’t want to pair certain ones up because of the mayhem that will happen, so be sure to keep Frankenstein’s Monster away from the Bride of, The Wolfman, AND Dracula (the latter two would get along to a point, but barely). I’d gather The Mummy wants to be alone, but he’ll try and put the moves on any lady he’s near, so you want to also separate him from that Bride as well as The Phantom (because they’ll both go after her).

Finally, you just KNOW that Metaluna Mutant and The Creature From the Black Lagoon would be all up in each others’ faces (until they get distracted by The Bride, who won’t want anyone to touch her). Hmmmm… may I suggest they all get separate storage if you do snap up the entire set? Hey, I’m just looking out for you guys and gals – I kind of need every reader I can get these days!

Sacred 3 Launch Trailer: Faster, Hackier and Slashier It Is. But Is That A Good Thing?

I really liked the first two Sacred games for their massive open worlds, lengthy main quests and plenty of side quests, so this more action-heavy and multiplayer focus Sacred 3 has is a bit jarring. Granted, developer keen games has made a nice-looking game here and it will be played for sure. I’m just hoping the game can be enjoyed as a decent RPG experience and isn’t just a kill/loot/rinse & repeat thing that some will despise and doom to the bargain bin before the year is out. That and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is on the way and will probably consign this game to a “play it later” fate for some DIII fans who only have time for ONE deep dungeon crawling experience. Anyway, this is out now in Europe and a few other spots – the North American version should hit retail and download channels on August 5th. I’ll give it a fair shake just to see how it stacks up to previous entries while also gauging it on its own merits. The game certainly looks as if it’ll be fun at the end of the day…
