Oh, this week needs a TOTAL kick in the head up this way thanks to some pesky bumps in the road (yeah, I’m being vague on purpose, people!), so this made me laugh because it’s so bizarre and out of context that it’s almost like some really bad fiction writing class exercise committed to celluloid. I should go track down whether or not anyone lost their head in a movie theater back in the day, but I think I’ll leave that bit of history tracing to the experts or someone with too much time on his or her hands.

Minecraft PlayStation Vita Edition: Well, I Just May Need This After All…

Yes, other than dinking around for about two hours on a friend’s PC a while back, I’ve avoided playing Minecraft. But with the Vita version ~~on the way~~ NOW available on PSN (the retail version is coming a bit later), I can finally see what the fuss is about on my platform of choice. It certainly looks pretty darn goon running on the handheld and I trust Aram (Hey, wasn’t he at Atlus for a while? Yes he was!) when he says it’s the best version of the game. Hmmm. I’ll probably need to shell out for a new memory card as well, as my current one is just about full and it’s time to pay the piper, grrrrr. I wish those things weren’t so expensive, as it’s one thing that’s keeping a very small segment of gamers away from the Vita as a viable handheld. The system has plenty of games on it, but it gets hit by some folks for having not enough variety, being underutilized by some developers and so forth and so on. Eh, I like mine just fine, thanks. I just wish Sony knew how to promote the thing a bit better…

2001: A Space Odyssey Gets a New Trailer. Time Travel Seems To Work After All!

Well, if you’re a very lucky resident of the UK with an interest in the classics, you get to see Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi masterpiece as it NEEDS to be seen – in a nice theater with a huge screen for a short run starting November 28. This trailer is quite nice even though it sort of gives away a lot of stuff to people who’ve seen this one many times. On the other hand, it’s also mysterious and unsettling in a “What the heck is this film about?” manner that may pull in a few younger viewers yet to experience this ultimate trip. Fat chance of this coming out here, as I have no idea who would go see this other than people like me who don’t mind hoofing it out to a theater just to see something already viewed multiple times (to the point of knowing certain lines of dialog and timing almost perfectly. “Ham, ham, ham, ham…”) Eh, given that I’d have to travel far to see this anyway (we’re down to two faraway theaters of questionable quality in this borough, boooo!), in a goofball way, it’s almost worth the airfare to London. But that’s not going to happen, ladies and gents…

Rainbow Skies Trailer: That PS3 and Vita? Not Dead Yet, Folks…

Okay,I’ll admit to being a bit late to the Rainbow Moon party, but ever since I picked it up for my Vita earlier this year, it’s been one of those games I’ve been playing quite a lot of when I get the chance. SideQuest Studios made quite a fun and challenging strategy RPG that, despite some flaws was and is worth picking up (whether or not it goes on sale). Anyway, the developer is going to be releasing a indirect sequel called Rainbow Skies set in a different world with three different protagonists to play as (so far). I like that there are some nice visual improvements over the last game (which was already great-looking, by the way), although it would have been nice to see the grid-based combat in action here. Well, I guess that’s what future new trailers are for, right? Anyway, Rainbow Skies is coming to the PlayStation 3 and Vita (so far) at some point (soon?). Keep and eye peeled on this one, especially if you’re a big RPG fan who wants a game with plenty of teeth that wants to test you at every turn…

Whoop. Got some slightly urgent stuff to move today all of a sudden, so I’m taking today off. Whee. I’ll be back later this evening or tonight, so you may get an entertaining post at some point. GetGeeked: Matter and Form Brings Affordable 3D Scanning to the Masses…

With 3D scanning and printing being one of the latest new big tech things anyone who wants to do can do if they’ve the money, time, and patience, it’s still a somewhat expensive hobby to leap into for novices. Poke around online and you’ll see some scanners still run well over a thousand dollars and that’s out of the range of potential casual users or those who just want to experiment with 3D modeling techniques or maybe make a small amount of crafty goods as gifts or whatever using any number of 3D printers or printing services cropping up all over the place. Enter the folks at Matter and Form with a cool and affordable solution that does what the more expensive models do at a faction of the cost.

EXTRATERRESTRIAL: You May Be the Bug-Eyed One While Watching This Sci-Fi Horror Shocker…

With a hashtag like #GETPROBED (Ouch!), that creepy as heck yet familiar in tone trailer below and some interesting casting (hey, I’ll watch Michael Ironside read cereal boxes for an hour and a half or so), The Vicious Brothers’ latest film looks like a modern version mix of 1980’s It Came Without Warning and a few other “B” movies I remember from back in the day. Of course, you can’t have an alien abduction flick without a nod to The X-Files, so it was amusing to see this film’s version of the Cigarette Smoking Man and a few other things. I’ll be checking this out for a review shortly, so stay tuned…

EXTRATERRESTRIAL will be released in U.S. theatres on Friday, November 21.

Oof. I wasn’t feeling too well this morning, but that was probably more due to lack of sleep and the weather outside getting more winter-like (Today only! Temperature 20% off!). Anyway, I was going to watch some movies and write about them, but I didn’t get around to it. Yeah, you know something’s off when you blow off entertainment to do other stuff. Actually, I ended up going through some stacks of PC games looking for a few titles for a future article, but got sidetracked going through two hard drives here to see if I had a really old game installed someone asked me about last week. Meh, I didn’t find it (yet), but while online looking up stuff earlier, I did eventually knock out a quickie tree drawing (enjoy!):

Hokay, I’ll be back tomorrow. It’s going to be a long day, as I need to pop up early and see about doing some laundry. It’s starting to get up and walk around, which isn’t a good thing… Eeek.
