An Update In A Few Languages

(Thanks, David S.!)

Current mood: See above. Too much annoying real world stuff going on to focus on the good things happening, but more incomplete posts than you can shake a stick at are coming. I did something fun for a short spell yesterday afternoon – an unfinished bit of art that helped clear some brain space and shake a mojo berry loose (the tree is baring less fruit these days… must be microwave damage or something). Take a look:

Today, it’s snowed in mode (whee, blizzard!), but no stress on that front. I’ve a stack of movies to get to, plenty of food and nothing but time. Although, I’m hoping this storm passes fast and the streets are clear enough by Thursday, as I’ve got a game trade to finalize that’s already taken too long to complete. Ah well… we shall see what’s what. Oh, and Daylight Savings Time is crappy – we need to dump it here in the U.S. of A.

Random Art: Not Mighty Oaks, But Mighty OK Is Fine By Me

So, yeah. I haven’t been drawing a lot lately. A few people bug me about his, but it’s that eternal struggle thing, I guess. The old self-taught artist with no big ego who’s tried and failed miz-er-ah-blee* at a few things while having successes in others stuff. I think they call that “life” or something like that? I’ll have to look that up one of these days.

Anyway, some room was recently made in the upstairs vault and mouse in hand, I knocked these out within the past week between a few actual money-making projects. Full of imperfections, like that “life” thing I keep hearing about, but I’m still working out the ins and outs of digital art. I could use a good tablet, but funds need to go elsewhere for the tie being, as this year has been lousy for me and tech stuff falling apart, going missing (Phill Katz, I haven’t forgotten you) or just giving up the electronic ghost entirely.

TESTING

This one? Ugh, but it was my first attempt at really trying out the revamped MS Paint in Windows 10. I don’t like that they changed the interface and added effects to the brush strokes, though. If I wanted to do watercolor or oil work, I have a bunch of aging art supplies stored here. Ah well. Perhaps I’ll change my mind with some more experimentation. Art classes would be great, but those cost money I don’t have at the moment.

Hey Mister

That one? Better, but “done, with errors on page” as they say.

*or is it miz-er-ah-bleh? I don’t speak French other than a handful of none too helpful phrases. 😀

Random Art: Joe? Two? Well, Hell Yeah!

wired WIP

Hey! It’s National Coffee Day or whatever it’s called. If you imbibe that devilish brew, go find a place that’s giving away a cup and get yours. I settled for being lazy and not making mine this morning just so I could hoof it down to Dunkin’and see what was what. Amusingly enough, despite the sign on the door and eager but surprisingly small crowd in the spot I stepped into, a few people on the line knew nothing about that freebie and were paying for their coffee, some even after the busy staff sort of pointed out that they could have had a freebie. Ah well.

Anyway, there was one guy in that shop who was on his tablet noting that he was going to walk to a few different Dunkin’s in the area (there are three or four within about a twenty or so minute walk) and get a free cuppa Joe at each stop. Well, that’s nice that he’s not going to be sleeping tonight, I guess. Still, it’s a somewhat good idea if you have nothing else to do and want a big ass buzz that will keep you wide-eyed and jittering into the wee hours. Um, here’s a tree to ogle that incomplete. No reason for it being here other than I’m too busy to dig up a stock image of a cup of coffee.

Yeah, I could have snapped a pic of my cup and posted it instead. But maybe I’ll do that later. I think I need a second cup of coffee now…

Random Art: On A Roll With Mustard & Relish

Night

Hmm. I have no idea why other than my brain has decided to kick itself back into gear and get my hands cranking out a bit more artwork lately. But I guess I can’t complain and should enjoy this creative spurt while it lasts. No stories of note behind these as I’m usually just sitting down to do something else and the randomness hits me on the head for about an hour or so.

Random Art: While Waiting For The Mystery To Solve Itself…

Here Comes Trouble

Hmmm. Nothing seems wrong here at the library today. But somehow, the internet connection is more than a little sluggish and keeps dropping out every few minutes. They’ve been having other issues (public printers haven’t worked for about a week, there’s a database issue that’s making it tricky to track some stuff), but the connection is usually fast and a lot more reliable. Anyway, to quote the old TV announcement: “We are experiencing operating difficulties… please stand by.”

Annoyed but feeling creative anyway, all you get today is a tree I knocked out after a post I was working on blanked itself after my laptop reset for some reason about half an hour ago. “This is only a test. If this were an actual emergency…” Well, I’d be at home under a few blankets at that point. Back in a bit. Or tomorrow, whichever comes first.

Random Art: What’s In A Name, Anyway?

untitled

Okay, it may seem as if I’m not doing much this Labor Day weekend, but I’m kicking along on a few things that needed getting done that weren’t going to get themselves done.  A few games and films in The Backlog are getting whittled down, I’ve been experimenting with a few cooking ideas I may spill a few beans on at some point and yeah, I’ve been doing a little more “art” as seen above.

Alrighty, then. Back to a slow Sunday night. Have a relatively normal holiday, those of you who get to celebrate it.

Random Art: Paintree Country (Or: Look Ma, One Hand!)

Branch Office IV

In the short list of crazy injuries I’ve had this year, throwing my left shoulder out is probably the most annoying for a few reasons. Thankfully, it’s the left side and not the right, as I tend to type faster with my right hand. It’s also a good thing that I can “draw” with a mouse while recuperating in any position. This sketch was actually an old incomplete one that I dug up and tinkered with while waiting for some medication to kick in. At some point I need to get knocked down by a big dog with well-manicured paws who would proceed to jump up and down on that one spot that hurts I can’t reach. So I’ll stop typing for now, go lie outside on the sidewalk for a few hours and see what happens.

Back in a bit.

Random Art: Lost Doggie (Sort Of), No Reward

mudpuppy

Actually, if you find it you can keep it. You’ll need a big yard and a rather large pool for exercise and bathing purposes plus a sign letting your neighbors know to keep their own pets indoors at night. They’ll turn up missing otherwise. Otherwise, it will absorb eat pretty much anything you set down in front of it. Let’s see now.. oh, right. The puppy also has somewhat caustic saliva, so letting it hop up onto your lap for snuggling is a bad idea. Then again, given its somewhat massive size, I’d imagine you’d not want an overly peppy lap-hopping, acidic drooling pet lumbering your way. Finally, it’s housebroken to some extent (as in it’s broken the last home it was in, which is why it’s “lost” in the first place).

Random Art: Watch Out For That Tree…

Stuck In Place...

Boo. So I’m a bit bummed that Project CARS died on the vine for the Wii U after a few years in the works and that version only getting up to about 23fps despite the best efforts of the dev team. But it was a business decision at the end of the day despite some raging (and flat out STUPID) conspiracy theories about the publisher ruining the game. I’ll comment on this further in a more appropriate post, but here’s a tree to peek at while you wait. Or perhaps I’ll get a few other things done and get to the game’s cancellation over the weekend. No use beating a dead tire now, although it would be nice to hear the whole story one of these days from the horse’s mouths. Ah well… back to reality and (no true simulation-type racers on a Nintendo console in quite some time)…
