Max Payne 3 TV Spot: Probably The Only Bit of The Game They CAN Show On TV…

Rockstar Studios’ long awaited beautiful bullet ballet is almost upon us (and yup, I can’t wait to see how it’s turned out) and here’s the first big TV ad for the upcoming game. Ever since I saw the live demo last year at NYCC, this one has been tickling a few buttons in my head. The art direction, visuals and gameplay all looked solid and that new animation system is brilliant when you see it in motion. While I’m not big on multiplayer these days, I know the story and characters will be what I like to call “Rockstar memorable”. As in there will be quite a few quotable lines sinking into skulls like some of the bullets Max fires off during the game. May is certainly going to be a busy month around these parts, that’s for sure…

Prototype 2 “The Power of Revenge” TV Ad: If The Game Is This Memorable…

…then it indeed more than justifies the cost of making this excellent short film. Like a few other big 2011 and 2012 titles, publishers are going all out with the CG and live-action advertising and not simply showing off actual gameplay, which sometimes backfires when the ad is better than the actual game. Fortunately, Prototype 2 is managing to be even better than the original, based what I got to see and play last year (at NY Comic-Con), so fans of the first game needn’t be concerned at all about this sequel. Activision and Radical Entertainment are on the right track for the most part, so prepare to strap yourself in for a wild ride. Say, that April 24 release date is coming up fast, isn’t it?

SoulCalibur V In Stores Now: Carl’s Jr. Wants Your Money, Too…

That ten bucks off coupon you get for snapping up a SCV Collector’s Cup will no doubt move the game a bit more in some areas, but… Ha!  There’s NO Carl’s Jr. ANYWHERE near me the last time I checked and (uh-oh) I don’t eat fast food burgers. Therefore, I’m completely immune to your charms, otherwise well-targeted TV ad!  Oh well. I hear the game is pretty darn good despite some familiar characters being dropped in favor of newbies the newbies can relate to. Bad idea, Project Soul! he BEST thing to do would have been to add ALL the old fighters as well as a roster of new ones so everyone could be happy. Well, there’s always DLC and a reissue at some point if the game sells well enough. No Taki or Kilik (among others?) Yikes. Well, I guess I;ll be using that character creation to whip up facsimiles, then…

Syndicate TV Spot: The Corporate Wars Are Getting Closer…

Nice. I’m sincerely hoping Starbreeze Studios and EA have their collective fingers in their ears and (their bulletproof vests on) when it comes to the silly trolling their baby is getting in some online circles. As noted on the other blog, once you try out the Syndicate demo and things start clicking into place, you’re hooked in and set to roll with whatever the final version packs. Me, I’ve been aboard since last year when I played the demo, so I know the game proper will be outstanding. To those still making Deus Ex: Human Revolution comparisons… well, you’ll just have to see for yourselves that while yes, there are some visual similarities, it’s not even close in terms of a few other key points. Well, there’s not too much longer to wait, so you’ll get the chance to see what’s up shortly… provided you can uncross your arms and look down at a controller instead of sticking your noses in the air…

Sonic, Meet Flo. Flo, Meet Sonic…

I think I’m the ONLY one I know who hasn’t seen this new Progressive ad on TV just yet, so after hearing so much about it, I’m glad it’s as cute as I’ve been hearing. In a way, it reminded me of those Japanese PlayStation TV spots with Crash Bandicoot that were all over TV and even ended up as bonuses on a few demo discs there… Go Sonic!

Breaking Bad Brings A Little RAGE Home Early…

Note: This video features flashes of graphic violence from the game and the TV show. However, if you're watching Breaking Bad, well – you know what to expect.

Bethesda and id sure know how to plan ahead and pull off major surprises, that's for sure. In case you didn't know, there are some major Breaking Bad fans at id and their upcoming shooter RAGE will feature some references to the show that should be well worth tracking down. However, last night's episode of the show (which was shot some time last year if I'm not mistaken) featured Aaron Paul's meth dealer/addict/lab partner/killer character Jesse Pinkman playing the game with a light gun in a nicely done sequence.

Dungeon Siege III TV Ad Might Be Accidentally Meta…

I’m older than the hills, so hearing the music in this ad zapped me back to my childhood when I’d occasionally plop in front of the TV and be baffled by The Courtship of Eddie’s Father. OK, not too baffled, as I was enough of a clever kid to “get” most of the show. Anyway, I’m not sure if Square Enix’ PR department planned this, but the ad is a bit meta if you know your TV and film history. As for the game itself, it looks mighty darn good and I’m hoping that Obsidian has hit the nail on the head in single player or co-op modes, as I just LOVE a well-made dungeon hack. DS3 arrives on June 21, 2011 for PS, PS3 and Xbox 360…

Bulletstorm TV Spot Pokes Fun At The Classics…

Duty Calls, indeed! February 22nd is (*BOOM!*) right around the corner and Epic, People Can Fly and EA have a nice kick in the, er, you know where for you shooter fans. Fun and funny stuff here (screw the Faux news fake “reportage” about the game, folks) – pick it up (er, provided you’re of age).

Left 4 Dead 2 TV Spot #2

Nice. 10 million zombies, huh? Given the pace of the recently released demo, it sure feels like it! November 17 is zooming up faster than you think…
