Sega and PlatinumGames are going to turn your living room into a futuristic battlefield with Vanquish, set to explode onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 19. This third-person sci-fi shooter mixes highly dynamic, lightning-paced combat with cover-based shooting mechanics. Here's a look at a bunch of amazing screens (love those powerslides the main character can pull off!):

Gallery: Portal 2

Hah! Game delays don't bother me at all, folks. In the case of Portal 2, it just means more time for Valve to make an even better game across every platform (so there!). Besides, it also gives me a good chance to actually add a nice all-in-one gallery to the site that features the E3 and more recent Gamescom screens, the brief tease-filled trailer and the hilariously unsubtle Infographics signage (each of which absolutely begs to be clicked on and read rather thoroughly).

So what are you waiting for? (click below)*

Gallery Update: Dead Space 2

Four lovely new Gamescom screens from EA and Visceral’s upcoming sci-fi/horror smash. Issac is back and he’s got a bunch of new “friends” that all want to play not so nicely. These shots are tame compared to the jump under your seat scary demo build, but hey – this means I can run them here and not get shot at by the ESRB… enjoy!

Gallery: Mortal Kombat

Well, a mere five screens isn't more than a super tease, but Warner Bros. Interactive wants MK fans to know that the franchise is indeed back and in fine hands. These shots show off the nicely detailed character models along with two maps, The Desert and The Bell Tower.

Gallery: F.3.A.R Gamescom Screenshots

From Gamescom, here are some nice new images from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Day 1 Studios' upcoming horror/action FPS, set for a 2011 release. Looks like that perfectly nasty cannibal Paxton Fettle is back and playable as half of your two person team. An even creepier Alma is also in the mix in an even more freaky manner than usual (this time out, she's pregnant and having cravings for more than pickles and ice cream)…

From what we've seen so far, the game keeps what made the other chapters work while adding in some new twists to the scary shooting action. WBIE is putting out some very cool stuff these days, aren't they?

Dead Rising 2 Cover Art/ZOMBREX Edition Pics

Capcom and Blue Castle’s upcoming zombie-packed kill-fest Dead Rising 2 is getting the standard and deluxe edition treatment as you can see here. Cover art for the PS3 and 360 versions plus the special limited edition ZOMBREX versions with all those cool goodies. Now if I can only get Capcom to send me a couple to sock away in case of a certain zombie emergency, I’ll be a happy camper…

Whomever thought this one up gets big Genius Points for life in my book. Capcom (who knows their fighting game fans are absolutely crazy in the best possible way) and Namco (ditto) team up for what's going to be a major blast of fresh air for the genre. This in-progress mash-up made my eyebrow poke up for a few until I got a gander at the screen shots. Yeah, this one is going to blow the doors off, raise the roof and bust a few controllers in the process. All I'll say is stock up on arcade sticks, energy drinks and Band-Aids.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution GamesCom 2010 Video

Looking really nice and coming along pretty well so far. Purists may be whining, but as much as an old coot like me loves the original and sequel, I’m going to give the game a fair chance. Eidos Montreal seems to be on the right track, I say – some hands-on time will reveal all… stay tuned.

2K Games & Irrational Announce BioShock Infinite

“Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!” Er, nope, that’s the floating city of Columbia, the setting of Irrational Games’ upcoming entry in the award -winning shooter franchise. After the success of BioShock 2, I guess someone around 2K’s offices said something along the lines of “Well, we can only go up from here.” Ken Levine and the folks at Irrational took that literally and well, here you go.

Below are the first three screenshots from the newly announced title, scheduled to hit retail sometime in 2012. It’s nice to have that far of an advance notice, huh? Taking the action from deep underwater to the not-so friendly skies should be quite interesting and based on the early info, the game won’t just be the same old thing with an open-air setting.

We’ll keep an eye peeled on the game at it progresses.
