Bundle Stars Wants You To Load Up On RPG Deals. I Say Oblige Them!

So, Bundle Stars is having yet another sale. Well, ALL they have are sales, but this time, you can buy some fine RPGs for a dollar or two or spend a tiny bit more for a bundle with assorted games and get one of these titles below in that deal. Anyway, pick one or pick all – it’s your move!

While here in America, the two Two Worlds games get a lot of negativity thrown their way, if you like European-developed open world role playing games or want to experiment with a couple, there’s a lot to love in both. Two Worlds: Epic Edition for a dollar and Two Worlds II for two bucks? DEAL of the week, I say. In either game You’ll get some pretty visuals, very large worlds to explore packed with plenty of challenge, and while not exactly strong on story, both games share a slightly goofy sense of humor that for me, at least was a refreshing change from the darker doom and gloom games in the genre.

The second game is the better looking of the two, but turn off the motion blur effect and down any other visual effects that can make playing the game a queasy thrill ride at times. The story is a bit better in the sequel, but as noted, that oddball humor is still there. I find it amusing that some people who disliked the funny stuff here probably never played one of the later Might and Magic games 3DO made. At times, those were practically comedies wrapped into a dungeon crawling experience. Anyway, more suggestions below the jump…

Death Rattle or Rather Atonal Finger Cymbals? Oh, Let’s Find Out Now, Shall We?

Ruh-Roh. Turned on the laptop not too long ago to post some stuff and maybe a half hour later, I hear a short, sharp rattling sound that made me jump. I thought it was from one of the phones or computers of the people sitting nearby, but then it happened again and nope, it’s me. More specifically, my not so new laptop. Eeek. Well, it hasn’t happened again, but I’m going to shut it down for the time being and see what happens when I reboot in about an hour. Crap. I have a ton of stuff to do and a quick proofreading job to complete, so this definitely stinks. And I just installed iolo’s wonderful System Mechanic, too!

Back in a bit… (Eeek!)

Dracula Untold Trailer: I’ve Got The Overbite Rewritten Blues…

(Thanks, CBM Trailers!)

Hmmm… suspicions confirmed. Dracula gets retold, so it’s officially “Dracula Untold” now, thus the need for a reboot of this magnitude. Big, loud, full of CG effects and hey, why not let’s get that hot singer du jour Lorde to do the theme song you’ll more than very likely hear as part of the end credits and want to download at some point? *Sigh*… Oh well. The young ones will eat it up, the weekly movie-goers will pay their money as usual, the older curmudgeonly critics will lament the lack of Lugosi’s accented mumbling sexy style, while others trumpet it as “sexier than Twilight” in those tween magazines and online haunts for the Emo chicky/Hot Topic crowd. Everyone wins… well, not really, but so goes the modern vampire movie – into the past with lots of the present 9and too much for my more mundane horror tastes). Eh, October isn’t so far away, so perhaps my mind will be changed? We shall see (as usual)…

CE Week 2014: There May Be An Elio In Your Future (and Sooner Than You Think)…

Elio_Screen-shot-2014-02-25-at-3.50.48-PMI think my eyebrow went up as soon as I saw the silver Elio (named after founder, engineer and CEO Paul Elio) tucked into its comfortably tight space at CE Week because I thought it was yet another electric car trying to capture some of that Tesla thunder. Of course, my eyebrow did a back flip when I found out it wasn’t a car at all, but more like a very sturdy American made gas-powered single door, two seat tri-wheeler that’s coming sometime next year for the ridiculous price of $6,800. Yeah, you read that correctly.

As an affable Joel Sheltrown, Elio’s VP of Governmental Affairs walked myself and The Other View’s Terry Lewis through his pitch, my initial wariness about the Elio vaporized as I realized that the company was trying to revolutionize the transportation market not with a luxury model only a few could afford, but an affordable ride for the masses that’s going to solve quite a few modern problems for almost anyone who wants one… Continue reading

E3 2014: Focus Home Interactive Wants You To Focus On These Two Upcoming Games…

Focus Home Interactive has two big games coming for PC and next-generation consoles and if this fourteen minutes of gameplay from the upcoming game STYX: Master of Shadows isn’t getting you grinning at the possibilities of just how cool it is to play that nasty little goblin assassin, I have not a clue what will get your interest piqued. This one’s coming later this summer and it’s great to see third party games like this and others filling up the PS4 and Xbox One library until the big first-party games roll out around the holidays and beyond.

space-hulk
On the even more intense front, fans of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 will be more than thrilled to see Space Hulk finally making a welcome return as a first-person shooter in the upcoming Space Hulk: Deathwing, coming from developer Streum On Studio. While all you get here is some in engine footage and not actual first-person gameplay with whatever HUD will (or won’t) be onscreen, Epic’s Unreal 4 engine is certainly making what you do see look pretty incredible and Streum On definitely has some talent Check out the handful of screenshots below for more of what to expect and keep an eye on both of these games, I say…

Sniper Elite III Launch Trailer: I’d Say If Mr. Fairburne Is Early… You’re Going To Be Quite Late.

Rebellion’s newest installment in their Sniper Elite series smashes into stores tomorrow in Europe and July 1 here in North America and if my earlier preview impressions hold up in the final build, the game is guaranteed to be a bigger hit than the previous installments. Improvements all around to the visuals, map design and both solo and online gameplay mean this one’s going to eat up a chunk of time among genre fans looking for something new to keep them occupied for a bit. I’ll be lurking close to my mailbox to get the jump on the delivery guy so I can grab my copy of the game from him before he knows it’s gone. Or perhaps I should just let him do his job, as I don’t want to get into trouble for my over-excitement…

SIn City’s Marv Gets The Eric So Treatment (And Is Still Quite A Scary Guy)…

WANTED!
Marv 4Dark Horse Comics and toy design master Eric So want YOU to grab this very limited edition (950 pieces) and very cool stylized Marv vinyl figure, which is set for a September 10 release, not long after the August 22 premiere of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For at a theater near you. Each Marv is 13 inches tall, individually hand painted, has a removable cross and chain and in a neat touch, you get a bunch of sticky bandages you can apply to his handsome mug. Well, I think he’s handsome… in that his mother dropped him off a roof too many times but he never stopped breathing kind of way.

Marv 9 Marv 10 Marv 19

Anyway, go bug your comics shop guy or gal if you want one of these. You better find a nice place to put it, too. Nobody puts Marv in the corner. For long…

Gravity Ghost: Your Soothingly Joyous Game Of The Month Is Almost Here…

Gravity Ghost iconIf it weren’t for a search mistake a few days back, I’d most likely have never stumbled across Gravity Ghost, the upcoming game from Ivy Games (also known as Erin Robinson). I’d also not have seen the other games on the site, all of which look like they’d be pretty fun to take for a spin. Anyway, GG is touted as a non-violent alternative where, according to the official site description:

“Gravity Ghost is a game to soothe your senses. There’s no killing. No dying. No way to fail. Just hours of blissing out to buttery-smooth gravity goodness…”

…which made me smile because all are things more games need in this era of run & shoot titles galore and plenty of players who no nothing but those. Games like GG are important because they open up the hobby to different types of gamers who may not desire to be head-shot kings and killer queens… Continue reading

CE Week Madness Of A Sort…

CE Week
Short post today, as I’m at CE Week seeing some pretty cool stuff I’ll be covering over the next few weeks. I shoule be posting from the show floor or something, but it’s too loud and distracting and I can’t write with people yammering away around me. Oddly enough, I can draw just fine, as you may see in a bit after the folks from one booth I dropped by send me an email of the intentionally blurry tree I drew using their nifty app and drawing tool…

Anyway, back in a bit – I’ve been up since 4:45am and still have about two hours here to go. Eeek. Well, the coffee is free at least…
