Lost in the Shadow Video Dev Diary 4: Pre-Launch Secrets

Some of you might be a tiny bit depressed that this year is rushing to a close too darn quickly, but for me, that just means that it’s closer to seeing the final version of Hudson’s Lost In Shadow hit retail on January 4, 2011. Here’s the final developer diary, featuring a peek at some of the cool secrets to be found in this Wii exclusive – enjoy!

Disney Epic Mickey Launch Event Photo Gallery

Hey, I'm no star-chasing paparazzi, folks – just an creaky old gamer with a crappy digital camera. I just point and shoot that crappy camera in the general direction of smiling people and try to get good enough shots to post. Submitted for your approval, perusal or whatever – here are a bunch of pics taken at the Times Square Disney Store during the Epic Mickey launch. I'll also note that Kyle Massey is pretty funny in person and both Warren Spector and Peter David are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, period.

P.S. Jennifer Grey is cute as a button and can probably fit into your coat pocket, but let's not tell her I said that!

Thank You, Good Morning America (Not Really, Though)!

Thank you, Good Morning America… for my day off work!

Having some of your staff walk off with multiple Disney Epic Mickey press gift bags earlier this morning means that I don't have a copy of the game to review today nor the assorted goodies I'd planned to give away as a means to drive much-needed traffic to my blog.

However, being the sole games journalist at the event, I didn't walk away completely empty-handed thanks to a Disney Interactive staffer that handed me a shirt and poster upstairs and made mention about not forgetting to pick up the aforementioned gift bag waiting for me when I left. Meeting Warren Spector, Peter David and a few other folks who worked on the game was pretty special as well.

If you're looking to add some more active gaming to your lifestyle and don't feel comfortable working out at a public gym, You've probably heard about a little console called the Nintendo Wii and the rather impressive number of activity-based games and peripherals that have been released. Atlus Announces Radiant Historia For Nintendo DS in 2011

We absolutely love Atlus and Atlus loves us right back. Maybe not absolutely, but hey… Sure, it's a long distance relationship and we don't talk all that much, but the gifts keep coming and they're always good ones, so we're hooked. Anyway, yes, it's another DS RPG extravaganza and yup, you'll get a free soundtrack with the game. Details below the jump. Go reserve a copy and make Atlus very happy…

By the way, the game's official website isn't quite up yet, despite the link in the press release. Fear not, dear reader… Atlus is on the case!

Disney Epic Mickey Behind the Scenes Video: Characters!

Artistically, Junction Point is right on the money, as you’ll see in this great Epic Mickey video preview. The Wii has a surefire winner this holiday season, that’s for sure…

3DS Dated for Japan (2010), US (2011), Specs Listed (Just Bring On The GAMES!)

Yeah, yeah. Here’s a nifty Gamasutra article with the 3DS specs as well as another with Japanese launch info, but if you ask me, I could care less about the specs. I just want to see the darn thing and a bunch of games I can sit down play with at a Nintendo event before getting my grubby paws on one I can take home. Yes, I’m shameless, but hell, I don’t spit out good reviews based on freebies and I’m certainly no celebrity who’s going to pose and shill in public and not give a crap about the 3DS once the cameras shut off. As long as developers get to make the best games they can for the handheld, I’m a supporter. Once the crap shovelware hits (and it will – some folks will buy anything in 3D!), I’ll stick around, but I’ll be a meanie when I need to be.

Nyko Wand+ Waves into Retail (Cue Sexy Time Music)…

I'd never thought I'd say this about a Wii controller, but Nyko's new Wand+ controller looks kind of… sexy. No, really – just look at it (or peruse the press release below the jump). Trust me, staring for too long at these pics with a glass of wine (or grape juice if you're not of age) in hand and a slow jam on the 8-Track will get you in the mood to play games you'd never even touch with the stock Wii Remote.

Review: Alice In Wonderland (DS)

Platform: Nintendo DS

Developer: Etranges Libellules

Publisher: Disney Interactive Studios

# of Players: 1

Rating: E10+ (Everyone 10+)

Official Site

Score: A

When it comes to licensed movie games, the DS usually gets the short end of the stick and that stick usually has a particularly blunt end. With much less memory to work with, movie games squeezed onto the handheld (generally in record time) often show off the handheld’s limitations rather than its strengths. On the other hand, every so often you’ll see games that take what the system can do and combined with more stylized visuals and truly fun gameplay, manage to impress as much as (or more than) the console versions.
