Bat Tuesday Leaves Me Stuffed Full of Nostalgia…

DSC01348 (Custom) So, yeah – that’s the 1966 version of the Batmobile in that picture (well, a tire from the 1966 version of the Batmobile). I’ll post a bigger gallery later or tomorrow after my CE Week exploits, part deux. Mezco Toyz rolled out this awesome treat infront of then partially inside the Ripley’s Believe or Not! er, Museum? as they also rolled out an awesome new Mez-itz set featuring a vinyl version of the classic ride along with The Dynamic Duo (that would be Batman and Robin) that’s due for launch in July (go  pre-order one NOW or the even cooler Summer Exclusive Mez-itz Bundle!)

I wanted to snap about a hundred more pics of this George Barris-engineered wonder, but there were SO many people on 42nd Street that started gathering that I had to get in the 30 or so shots I took pretty quickly and (DUH!), I actually didn’t take any movies of the car outside thanks to my surprise at it being rolled out of a trailer about 25 or so feet from the museum. Uh-Oh! Would I get at least close enough to that Batmobile so it was actual 1:1 scale… or would I end up underneath a few too many shoes and sandals with socks before I reached my destination (damn tourists!)…

Tune in below the jump, dear reader…

(hey, I was going to say “Tune in next week… same Bat time, same Bat channel…”, but some of you would take that TOO literally and NOT come back until next week. I can’t have that, so… look down and click, puh-leease)

Attention Bat-Fans: Believe it or Not! Mezco Toyz Wants You In NYC For Something Old, Something New

mezco_letters300dpi

Holy “I Get To See The Original Batmobile and Maybe Pass Out On Top of (Or Next To) It!, Batman!!” Mezco Toyz is lighting up the Bat-Signal and letting all you classic to current Batman fans know they’re going to be doing something really awesome in New York City on June 25, 2013. Check it out below and get in on the fun, I say.

Batman Banner FINAL APPROVEDt

Ripley-Lobby-photo credit_michael weintrubThe hilarious thing here is as a jaded and cynical Noo Yawkuh (for life! OK, I’ve left the city and traveled plenty of times), I’ve never been to that Believe it or Not museum and in fact, scoot through 42nd street as quickly as possible whenever I’m in the area. Those crowds can be a bit annoying is all I’m saying. Still, I guess it’s a far sight better than the old nastier 70’s and 80’s where you’d want to run like hell away for other reasons (I’m old enough to tell you some mighty freaky true tales)… However, the chance to see the Batmobile of my childhood (and it better not be made of wax, grrrr… oh, wait, that’s Madame Tussaud’s down the street – another place I avoid!)? Oh hell no, that’s not getting passed up one bit. “POW!” “BIFF!!”, “SOCK!!” Er, “SPLORCH???” Hmmm… er… maybe not a “SPLORCH???”… that just sounds too wrong. Anyway, yeah, SHOW UP and bring your camera and a drool cup. Wear a bike helmet or hardhat if you’re prone to passing out from sheer nostalgia (“THUDDD!”)

Mezco’s Living Dead Dolls Resurrection Series 7: Chucky Gets Some Company…

LDD Resurrection VIIMezco Toyz is dropping some cool San Diego Comic-con International reveals on collectors in the forms of their upcoming Living Dolls Resurrection Series VII and  Living Dolls Resurrection Series VII – Variant Edition sets, both of which now available for pre-order directly from the company’s website.

As you can see, the “reborn” versions of  Revenant, Dahlia, Lust and Killbaby all look nice and ready to stalk your shelves at home (or haunt someone else you decide to gift them). Looks like Barbie’s going onto that bonfire after all. Just keep a window open… the fumes will make you end up looking like one of these hellish cuties if you’re not too bright…

Get (More) PSYCHO: Mezco Toyz Gets Mother And Marion All Dolled Up…

Mezco PSYCHO Dolls Eeek! I don’t know what’s more frightening: the fact that there are actually dolls based on Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal horror classic now available for pre-order or the the fact that there are people making some more room on their shelves for both of them with big grins on their faces. Granted, Mezco’s Living Dead Dolls line continually sells out and has legions of fans, so this set will most definitely do well with that crowd.

On the other hand, it’s a damn good thing these weren’t available as Mother’s Day gifts, as I’m trying to think who’d be the person giving one or both to their mom in a nicely wrapped-up package with an even BIGGER (and more sinister) grin on his or her mug. Not me, folks… although I can safely say that “My hobby is… stuffing things…”. Hmmm. If I ever tell you “You eat like a bird…”, you may want to start running in the opposite direction (and fast)…

Toy Fair 2013: Mezco Toys Brings Chucky Back + Some Living Dead Dolls Banner News…

Mezco Logo B

Chucky smallSay a happy “Hello!” to Mezco’s 15″ Mega Scale Chucky doll. Well, say that happy “Hello” NOW, as once he arrives on your doorstep, it may be the last we see or hear of you. This latest incarnation, available for pre-order NOW and shipping out in September 2013, is decked out in his colorful Good Guys outfit, comes packing a knife (well, not a REAL knife, but you do have some in the kitchen he’ll get a hold of, right?) and will look quite good in your collection. You may want to add a steel-barred locked cage to your shelf, though. Plunk down $90, and he shows up a few months from now all ready for your collection. You can pretend that’s because he walked all the way from the factory, but do you REALLY want to take this fantasy that far?

CHUCKY banner

Me, I’ll just pass out and dream about Jennifer Tilly chasing after me with an inflatable axe in one hand and a Tiffany doll from Bride of Chucky in the other (hmm, does Mezco have one of these for sale?) because there are much more *fun* ways to leave the planet. Of course, the actual GF will be chasing me with a REAL axe if I keep this stuff up, so it may be a messy demise after all… Ouch, ouch, ouch!!!

As for that Living Dead Dolls banner, read on…

Toy Fair 2013: If She’s Your Role Model, You Should Read That Fine Print…

TF2013_banner

barbie catalogNow, this isn’t your average mildly to moderately angry feminist posting about how any and everything Barbie or any other supermodel-thin artificial female-shaped toy represents the destruction of the normal female body image and how the whole plastic princess thing represents the ultimate in corporate brainwashing or whatever. I can’t write that well because my sense of humor won’t let me and I’m here to rant about something else. That and the last time I checked (I had to pee before I wrote this post), below the brain I’m not much of a feminist. Anyway, while looking through this latest catalog I got in the mail, a theme appeared that made my eyebrow go up and stay locked in that “Hmmmm…” position too long. I had to force it down (my eyebrow, not the theme) with my backup electric toothbrush. The original rolled off the radiator onto an old glue trap the other day and that sucked, but didn’t because if I tried to get my eyebrow down using a toothbrush stuck to a glue trap, I’d have a bit more to worry about…

Mezco Toyz Wants YOU To Save The Zombified Animals…

TF2013_banner

dawww_kittyHmmm… those log TV ads with the tear-jerker tunes and too many sad, lonely animals are kind of ripe for parody, but being the sensitive type, I don’t go there… I let people the fine folks at Mezco do it for me. “Won’t you save these 12″ Creepy Critters from more harm?…” Yeah, I want both, as they’d look great hanging out in the living room not stinking up the place like a real cat or bear (until Mezco cooks up a *NEW* “dead scent” series, ewww)… Wait, who keeps a LIVE bear IN their home? Oh, it’s America, right. So that means there are probably a few people out there with wilder pets or animal fetishes. Hey, I knew a guy with a custom built exotic snake pen that wrapped around the walls of his living room and there’s always some nut who wants to hop into the tiger pen at the Bronx Zoo up here, soooo…

Toy Fair 2012: Vinyl (& Plush) Appreciation Society (Part 1): Mezco Toyz

There were literally a ton of action figures on display at Toy Fair, so picking just one favorite booth was a losing proposition. However, despite the big guns (Mattel, Hasbro, Lego, et cetera) rolling out some truly impressive new licensed goodies you’ll be snapping up like hotcakes, there were a number of smaller studios that had more interesting and in some cases, more impressive licensed items coming your way in 2012 and beyond. Here’s a peek at a few of my show favorites…
