Okay, Funko. I want an entire box of these Guardians of the Galaxy Mystery Minis and I don’t even have ROOM for them! These mini-bobbleheads are coming in July (price TBA) and man, aren’t they CUTE? I mean LOOK. AT. THEM. (faint, *THUD*):
Anyway, blind box packaging, no “rares” to chase down, but two of them glow in the dark. If you want in on these, check the usual comic shop and online haunts for these in about two months. I bet they sell out everywhere, especially if the movie is bigger than it’s going to be…
Interestingly enough, had that new Godzilla film been made about ten years ago, gamers would be playing some new (and possibly rushed to make the film’s release window) game like this with longer levels and perhaps some sort of added multiplayer features. The days of paying fifty bucks for licensed movie games is over, I’d say and so, you get Godzilla Strike Zone for free on PC as a web browser game, on iOS though the App store and on Android through Google Play. Is it any good? Well, that depends on your definition of “good”, folks. It’s fun to play and loud and not very long overall, so I guess that counts as “good” in my book. Granted, you don’t need to know a thing about Godzilla old or new to dive into this and nope, you can’t ever beat FREE in my book even if a game isn’t all that hot. This one’s not going to task your brain in any way shape or form, but I’d recommend playing with headphones or ear buds, as you’ll rattle some windows if you have the volume up too much.
Boom. As good as this looks in that epic, busywork CG explodey summer blockbustah way, as i’ve said before, I just cannot get behind a Tom Cruise flick these days for a few reasons I won’t go into again. I’ll still see this because the trailers make it look interesting, but only when it eventually pops up on cable sometime early next year (I’m guessing January or February based on how fast some films are showing up these days). Yeah, he’s absolute gold at the movies and can act up a storm, but I’ve found there are some people you go through part of life just not liking after a certain point (and that’s all I’ll say about that). Now, I’m not going to stop you at all from spending your ticket money, folks. So have a blasteroo and let me know if this one’s worth paying to see if you do end up going to see it.
There’s no doubt that Marvel Studios is on a roll with their last few films, so good on them and the assorted directors for giving the fans more than what they though they were going to get. While my own mind changed on this one after some initial wariness, I think I still have a tiny bit of healthy “well, what happens if the trailer is better than the film?” skepticism in me that’s NECESSARY at this point so I can be surprised if (and when) it all falls into place. Granted, I’m old enough to remember the ORIGINAL Guardians of the Galaxy (and yeah, it would be really cool to see a nod to those guys and gals in the film) an the first incarnation of Star-Lord where he was more of a pompous ass with a sentient ship and a supremely serious origin story you need to look up one of these days if you’ve never seen it.
Anyway, how long can this streak continue? Who knows? One thing’s for sure, not every film upcoming will be a hit, but if Marvelcan generate enough good will with this film and the next Avengers movie, I’d say some fans won’t mind if there’s missed mark along the new path they’re traveling…
Here’s a handful of location screens from Dragon Age: Inquisition, headed to PC and every home console except for the Wii U this October 7. BioWare has also been posting some fine reading material and more images on lore from the game, so today you get links to info on those warring mortal enemies The Grey Wardens and The Darkspawn along with the VERY non-vacation hotspot called The Fortress of Adamant. Hey, this trip is FREE, so pipe down or the guide will leave you in a tomb somewhere!
Heh. Spoilers, spoilers! You’ve been warned! I won’t be the one who’s scorned! I missed posting about last week’s episode (above) thanks to the week crushing me with stuff to do, but this week’s surprise-packed episode got me chuckling to no end. Yeah, I won’t say a thing so anyone who hasn’t seen it yet can get the full effect, but I really wasn’t shocked about that ending at all other than thinking it would be another annoying character getting the Red Bull Special treatment.
Okay, tomorrow. I don’t care about the live interview stuff at all, I just want to see the entire trailer and get it over with just so all this teasing is over and done with. And of course, THAT will last as long as it takes for Trailer #2 to get teased and revealed, right? Rinse & repeat for Trailer #3 and so forth and so on. By that time, I’ll be older and wiser and only be running the actual trailers just because I can’t stand that suspense. That, or the darn movie willbe OUT already and there will STILL be teasers for it on the way, ha!
Soooo, what did you do this weekend? Well. it’s STILL the weekend, so what WILL you be doing at some point before this weekend is over? As noted previously, I’d have seen Godzilla already if there was a local theater to see it at, but the last one in this area is being turned into a store we don’t need, sooo… I’m just lurking about doing stuff like posting early on a Sunday morning. Anyway, mixed reviews aside, I’d say the film is going to be a hit with most fans and there will probably be a sequel at some point. Of course, the true test is the overseas box office (as in Japan, where that big lizard was created back in 1954), so I guess Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures will be keeping an eyeball on the reception there as well.
Well, I did say Helena was my favorite close and last week’s (well, last night’s) episode showed a few reasons why. As for the rest of that episode, well… the plot thickens, doesn’t it? Yikes. Nothing like a bit of suspense, sex and near death to keep a Saturday night exciting, right? Well, as long as it’s on TV and not for real, of course. No one needs all that happening on what should be a halfway decent weekend, I say. Anyway, next week’s show looks even more interesting for the clones (road trip!) and Mrs. S is back and probably getting in deeper than even she wants to be. We’ll see…
I find it hi-larious that some are complaining endlessly about these teaser trailers for actual trailers when the practice has been ongoing for a while. Yes, it gets annoying if you’re interested in seeing MORE about a movie and not under twenty seconds of flashy wonder. But hate the game, not the players, as this is Short Attention Span Theater 101. Even the jerkiest comment about how this is a stupid thing means that that person who commented WATCHED THAT TEASER. That’s an ass in a seat when the movie comes out to Marvel and Disney and whomever else is hoping this one busts a few blocks in November.
Now, if ONLY I had a damn movie theater to see this at NEARBY, I’d be happier. I like walking to the theater, not paying to sit on a subway with people coughing and wheezing and sneezing in my direction for almost an hour before stepping into a freezing maxi-plex with a bunch of folks who don’t appreciate the place yakking it up all through the movie to no end. Eh, as with most of the filsm I end up seeing, I may wait for a quiet weekday when crowds are minimal and I can actually hear the dialogue with out wanting to strangle the entire row in front or in back of me.
