Or: Yeah, I paid full price for Magus and Yeah, I laughed more than I thought I was going to. That wasn’t a good thing, by the way. Anyway, it looks as if Aksys will redeem itself with this upcoming Vita exclusive, Mind Zero. Thankfully, it happens to be a dungeon crawler that actually looks pretty decent and I still have enough respect for Aksys to give them another chance. Of course, this could be another Beyond the Abyss (eek!), but I don’t think so, as it has more the look and tone of a Shin Megami Tensei game if anything. Well, we shall see soon, as this one ships out digitally and to retail May 28, 2014.

Skylanders Trap Team: Your New Fix Lands This October With Even More Innovation!
Aha! Activision WAS being pretty stealthy this year at Toy Fair. Nothing to show ON the floor and I didn’t ask for an appointment at the booth this year (nor did I get an invite), so I figured they were taking the year off to retool for next-gen fun. Nope. Here’s this year’s blast of “We’re going to get your money and a LOT of it”: Skylanders Trap Team, rolling out in October for consoles (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, 3DS) , but of course, pre-orders kick off earlier (April 23, 2014 here in North America). Press release below the jump, gallery coming tomorrow, as I’m running late today and need to zip back home… Continue reading
DreadOut Teaser Trailer II: It Ain’t Over Until The Lady In Red Sings…
When we last left DreadOut, this Indonesian-made horror game was scaring the pants off of a few folks with YouTube channels who make a living pretending to be scared or perhaps being actually scared but somehow make it look canned when they jump and squeal in their seats like clubbed dog toys. Anyway, that video above is the latest “update” for the game just to let you know it’s coming out on Steam in May. Below is the previous teaser that shows and tells you what you’re in for next month: good old school horror in the Fatal Frame manner.
Digital Happiness will certainly bring some Digital Scariness to horror game fans with this one, as the demo from last year certainly had its moments. Well, prepare to sit in the dark and keep looking behind you every few minutes soon enough…
Lords of the Fallen Gameplay Trailer: Been Around The Block Much Lately?
A-ha-ha, little joke there. I figure if you’re going to be playing Lords of the Fallen, you’ll probably want to consider learning where the “BLOCK” button is on that controller or keyboard and learn to USE it wisely so you don’t end up like our poor test subject above. That, and knowing when to dodge or roll away from blows will more likely than not keep your character healthy and breathing for as long as possible.
Of course, the Dark Souls/Dark Souls II crowd KNOWS this, but this isn’t that game at all, just the same publisher getting out a game that will have some making the usual comparisons just to waste time before they actually play it (if they actually get around to playing it)…
Gallery: The Red Solstice – Ironward’s Action/RTS Is Looking (And Playing) Like Hot Stuff…
Fans of the hugely popular RTS genre would do well to seek out The Red Solstice, Ironward Studios’ upcoming co-op focused squad-based action game that that packs in loads of action familiar to shooter fans with the resource management and other elements familiar to RTS players, The game’s recent Kickstarter did more than enough for the game to make its funding goal and a few stretch goals and some hands-on time with an alpha build (that means there’s a ways to go before the final version is complete) reveals quite a thrilling time to be had with one really good looking (in a dark, gritty sci-fi manner) game as you’ll see below the jump… Continue reading
Namco Bandai Drops Loads Of Cool Game News (This Isn’t It – Yet)…
Any excuse to show yet another Dark Souls II trailer is a good one (and this ad is for the PC version), so I’ll use this as a convenient excuse. Anyway, I was a bit busy today, so I only read the email I got, fell out of my chair and went off to do stuff in the fresh air most of the day. I’ll post videos and descriptions of the games they revealed over the next few days, so pop back in starting later this afternoon for that. There’s a very nice set of varied new IP, sequels and returning favorites on the way this year for PC, consoles and handhelds, so stay tuned for more (and actual) updates. Now go to sleep already, you… it’s after midnight!
Demon Gaze Out Now: My Vita Is Glaring At My Wallet (And It Has A Studded Club)…
Hokay, let’s keep this SIMPLE. Got a Vita? GOOD. Go click on that picture and BUY THIS GAME. I’m keeping this short because you need as much time to play Demon Gaze as possible and less of me telly you why. Get it? Got it? GOOD. Now, go dive in for a spell and pop back in to thank me later…
Bundle Stars’ Latest Deal Is The Conquest Of Your Free Time!
Holy cats. AGAIN. A dozen Steam digital games in a bunch of genres for a mere five bucks with part of the proceeds going to charity? Crazy! My own backlog and need to clear out some hard drive space means I’m eyeballing a few games in my backlog and considering deleting them temporarily just to snap up this set of titles. Granted, I’m not a big RTS fan, so those historical sims may not be touched unless I have a LOT of free time and want to do some supplemental reading. On the other hand, most everything else here floats my boat to some extent and saving $110 is always a good thing. Hmmm… time for a coin flip (again!)…
Anyway, if your own eyeballs have grown to saucer size when you clicked on that link above you know what to do, right? Also check out the other bundles on the site PLUS those awesome store deals for up to 80% off a really nice bunch of games in a few genres. I may have a nice surprise for two lucky readers later this week, so stick around for an update…
Child of Light On Wii U: Same Game, Different Console (Get It And/Or Get Over It!)…
*Sigh* Ah, the internet… home to fools with busted soapboxes and lousy opinions, all in the name of… something. Anyway, YES, the Wii U version of Child of Light is going to look exactly the same as the other versions, yeesh. That UbiArt Framework and the lovely hand-drawn art in the game will run on any modern console as well as anything next-gen and any decent PC. But try telling that to the trolls out there and all you get is under-bridge bile drippings from people who haven’t touched Nintendo’s console and don’t intend to.
Frankly speaking, screw those dolts, I say. As a multi-system owner and longtime gamer, I’m still trying to decide which system to get this one for, but I’ll play and review it on the Wii U if I have to just to have another game for that system that needs to get MORE of them this year. Anyway, April 30th is the big day and hopefully, this version won’t get slapped with a last-minute delay or anything else that will get the skeptics babbling from their stinky toll-haunts under every local bridge. I don’t normally wast my space on people like this, but after overhearing some inane anti-Wii U drivel today, I had to put my foot down before I put it up someone’s read end.
That and the last living thing I actually kicked was a REALLY slow pigeon a bunch of years ago. Hey, I was in a hurry, it was in front of me trundling along like an over-sized inchworm with wings and it wasn’t a “kick” at all… it was more of a foot-lift and bird shift to my right as I zipped past.
Orphan Black S2 Episode 2 Trailer: Some Things Don’t Stay “Dead”…
Ha (and here there be spoilers, so tread carefully!). As soon as saw her “die” last season, I knew Helena wasn’t really “dead” because of all the clones, her super-unhinged Russian assassin was the most intriguing character who needed even more screen time than she got last season. Sure, she’s disturbed, has more scars than any Frankenstein’s monster and tells bad jokes at the worst times, but she’s got personality to burn and made for a pretty relentless killing machine. Granted, she popped up pretty much half-dead at the end of Saturday’s show, but given that she seemed fully dead before that, this is a good sign. Wellll… perhaps not exactly a “good” sign for the other clones, but I think our lady-killer might be changing her ways a bit. Er, provided she can get out of that hospital without anything else happening to her.
As usual, we shall see…
