Falling Skies: The Game Teaser #2: Angry Aliens Asking For It Are Landing Sooner Than You Think…

September 30th is peeking around the corner and Little Orbit’s upcoming Falling Skies: The Game keeps popping up on my radar as a game that needs to be played. Sure, it’s swiping its style from the classic X-Com series, but as I’ve noted earlier that’s all good with me if they swipe the best parts and make it fit with what works in the popular TNT TV series. It may not be the prettiest nor the most hyped game of the year at all, but I’m betting it finds its niche among strategy-starved gamers who want a new title to keep their interest for as long as it takes to complete (and be replayed a few times). Keep an eyeball peeled on this one, folks…

The Toys of Summer: Rabbids Baby Want, Rabbids, Baby Get!

rabbids.header.01 Bwaaaaaaah! Remember when I said Ubisoft’s goofy-looking Rabbids were nothing but trouble? Well, they’re STILL trouble and thanks to McFarlane Toys, you can take that trouble from the hit Nickelodeon TV show (and a bunch of fun games) and bring it home with you. But… should you? You KNOW what happens when Rabbids get loose, right? RIGHT? No? Hmmm… apparently, someone did not get the mem-o, I see. Well, FINE then. Hey, I did warn you, so I’m not responsible for the mayhem that will ensue when you allow yourself to bring Rabbids into your lives.

Below the jump is a short list of rather cool stuff (available this month at your favorite toy retailer) you can spend that hard earned money on so you can fill up your space with too much Bwaaaaaaah:

The Walking Dead Season 5 Tease: Sixteen Seconds Of “Wait Until October…”

And here we go (again)… Yep, we’re all settled in with this show now, and it’s pretty much the two camp thing going on here. People either like the show because it’s expanded past the comics and changed things up a bit to a lot or they hate the show because it strays too far from the comics, the people have become scarier than the walkers (which makes sense at this stage in the game) and they just want an action movie every week with explosions and last-minute escapes or whatever. Being in the former camp is the smarter move here, as you can go in and just enjoy what the writers have cooked up and not worry about some seething fanboy or girl raaaaaaging on a keyboard somewhere from the comfort of a zombie-free zone. Funny how some of these folks dislike the show yet keep watching it anyway, huh? Yeah, it just sucks to be them, but hey – it’s their time to waste and it does help the ratings stay in a good spot, I guess…

Doctor Who Season 12 Teaser: Take A “Deep Breath” And Get Back To Waiting…

I’ve been avoiding coverage of all those overseas Doctor Who premiere shenanigans because I want to NOT have anything spoiled before that new season kicks off in ten days. I had to post this trailer just to let some of you know I haven’t forgotten the show at all, I’m just holding my breath and holding out until the 23rd when I can watch this at home like the rest of you who aren’t getting the chance to see this on a big screen with other lucky folks. Of course, I’ve been cheating a little, as the longest I can actually hold my breath isn’t long enough to still be breathing when the show kicks off the Capaldi era. I do know my limitations, folks…

Funko Gets All American Horror Story On Fans In September – Make Room For Some Cute Creeps…

As you can see, Seasons One and Three of the show are well represented in this upcoming collection of Pop! Television: American Horror Story vinyl figures. Available in September at your favorite comic shop or online retailer that stocks Funko products, this dark lot looks to invade your personal space and perhaps put the fear of… something into you as you try and get a decent night’s rest. You know, I’ve only seen maybe four episodes of that show? I never could get into it for some reason and it certainly didn’t creep me out as much as some people. Hmm… perhaps that’s thanks to my new normal just being weirder than usual…

SDCC 2014: Little Orbit’s Got A Pair Of Nice Surprises For Gamers Soon…

As a fan of last year’s Adventure Time game (released by D3Publisher of America), I’m happy to see that this year’s installment, Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom is going to be closer in spirit to a Legend of Zelda game as opposed to a Gauntlet and Diablo-inspired chase & chop. Sure, I’ll miss playing as Marilese and some of the other characters, but as long as this new game delivers the goods, I’m not complaining at all. This one’s coming sometime in the fall for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC (via Steam) and Nintendo 3DS.

As for Falling Skies: The Game? Color me surprised and impressed. Sure, it’s basically a reworked version of the XCOM reboot from a few years back, but this is actually a good thing because I’d imagine the only other options were a boring run & gun game or some type of MMO that only a tiny percentage of people would actually play. While this one’s only coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360, I’m betting that it gets bought and played by gamers who like turn-based strategy who don’t mind maybe discovering a show they haven’t seen yet as well. This one’s out PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (via Steam) on September 24, 2014.

Doctor Who Goes To The Movies (And Yes, You’re Invited!)…

Doctor Who_Deep Breath Poster

Ha. I figured this would happen, so it’s nice to have the option of seeing the first Peter Capaldi episode on the big screen or at home. Naturally, the theatrical version will have more footage (that’s going to pop up eventually on TV) and sure, you can dress up if you wish (and if you dress up at home, I don’t need to know unless you’re importing Jelly Babies and want to share). I’ll most likely stick to my living room for the entire season just because there aren’t any theaters where I live now, the nearest one takes some time to get to and the tickets are quite overpriced. That said, options are always a good thing (but not having a movie theater in a neighborhood that had five or six at one point is a damn shame, grrrr!)…
