Random Art: Head Cold, Remedy Required

A little rusty

I think this extra dopey and drawn out winter has frozen my brain or something. I have a huge list of stuff to do and it’s as if my head is filled with Cra-Z-Sand or something. Well, this too shall pass as it normally does, but it seems to be worse this year and more annoying because the ideas are piling up faster than I can get them out. Eh, I just need a vacation or some quiet time, is all. Or some helper monkeys to keep pouring coffee into me and poking me with fencing foils (with the rubber tips on, of course!). Hmmm. Well, let’s get the brain wagon back into gear and see if that hill can be surmounted. Giddyap!

Random Art: Things Fall Apart In Some Awfully Productive Ways, Don’t They?

Pop Arty Mess

Ha. Well, so much for a much more productive Sunday. Actually, I ended up doing too much research on an article for another site to the point that the short humor piece I started out with is now bigger than it probably should be. Oops. That’s what happens when you take your game history more seriously than the rest of the internet does. Oh well. I’m pooped, but still need to dig up a bunch of images, clean up the text a bit and roll it into something readable starting early Monday morning. Three shorter articles I’ve started need to be completed and then I get to… do some more writing for my site before Toy Fair rolls into town this weekend. I think breathing is in the mix at some point, as is sleeping and maybe eating. But we’ll see where that goes.

Anyway, some terrible “artwork” to share above. Noting but some mucking around with a random paint program I found on a disc. Ooh, I just remembered The Walking Dead AND Better Call Saul are on AMC tonight. Well, what I’ll be doing for the rest of this Sunday night has just been decided. Provided I remember to stop working and sit down in front of the TV. At least it’s on now as background noise. Looney Tunes, F. T. W., kids.

Random Art: Shhhhh, Quiet Zone!

Hush

I’m back. Well, not really “back” back… but let’s pretend. Anyway, yikes, a lot of people want to see me at Toy Fair, it seems. That’s a good thing, as I like seeing fun stuff and passing info along to anyone interested. Anyway, I had to download some files and event tickets for the show earlier and while waiting, whipped up the above. MS Paint, a mouse and some patience as usual. Hokay, let me get back to it, then. “It” being reading some stuff I needed to read, tinkering on a fun new feature column for later this week (you’ll see) and maybe thinking about what’s for dinner. Not necessarily in that order, by the way…

Random Art: Let’s Twist Again…

bend WIP

Meh, just some filler because I had to reinstall some stuff on the laptop a few days back and did this while waiting. I don’t like it much, but that’s okay. Back in a bit. It’s been a shorter day than usual, but I need to get back on the horse tomorrow and catch up on some stuff.

Random Art: You Get a Moon Carpet! And YOU Get A Moon Carpet!…

Moon Carpet

Okay, it’s not a REAL moon carpet, but hey, it popped up in a dream I had while resting yesterday, so I’m sharing. Eh, I should probably tinker with it some more so it looks like something closer to a moon surface and not a close up of some bad skin condition. But hey, maybe that was what I saw in the dream and not some rug made of green cheese or whatever the moon is made up of. Hmmmm… it does tie the room together, doesn’t it?

Random Art: It’s Not Really A Day Off, As I’m Still Breathing…

Inkomplete WIP

Yuck. Between the cold weather outside, the home being too toasty (hey, at least the heat is on, but yikes, does it get steamy up in here!) and someone who moved back in recently with his nasty smoking habit (who needs to quit before he gets beaten senseless or drops dead himself), I’m a bit under the weather today.

(Thanks, chshaw87!)

Well, it’s not THAT bad, but past experience tells me that if I get too occupied with cranking out work when I’m starting to get sick, I usually end up this way in a few days. Anyway, I’m going to go out for a short walk (I ran out of aspirin and need a refill), pop back in to get some resty-rest and be back tomorrow with more intelligent things to say. Have a tree in the meantime.

See you all tomorrow. Or perhaps later if I pop up and feel less froggy and possessed.

Random Art: Parts Is Parts…

Claw

I’m not on fire in terms of productivity, but it’s HOT as hell on the sun in here. The new boiler that was installed plus some tinkering on it by maintenance has cranked up the non-adjustable heat so that it’s a toasty 70-something degrees in here and probably close to 80. I’d check the thermometer by the window, but ha-ha, the plastic base it was attached to warped from a few days of heat last week and the thermometer popped out and fell into the radiator. Anyway, I’m way behind on updates thanks to the over-stressful hack job that was done on my kitchen (it took about four months for this? I could have done it myself and gone all the way insane in maybe two weeks). Oddly enough, I’ve been able to hack out a few quick little sketches to clear my mind up a bit so I can concentrate more on getting back to writing.

alien arm test

Yeah, yeah, they’re not perfect or that good, but they’re not supposed to be. I did dig up an ancient note to myself about finishing up an Alien story I’d wanted to turn into some sort of comic or novel with some help (I’m not a visual storyteller at all despite one horrific comic assignment under my belt). Eh, we’ll see where that goes this year, as there’s a lot more urgent things to tackle and I should be focusing on those first and foremost. Okay, back in a bit. I need to get outside again before I burn up like an overcooked baked potato. And yes, my poor pepper plants are so confused by this summer weather in the winter with less sunlight.

Random Art: A Minor Cure For Some Major Madness…

A Bit To The Left

Well, I was going to post more pictures yesterday of the kitchen, which has been partially painted despite a rather glaring repair omission that sticks out like two sore thumbs thanks to that fresh coat of paint. But this whole mess of ass-backward insanity that should have taken maybe a week or less according to This Old House rules has sucked up too much of my energy and is affecting my workload. Blech. Anyway, I’ll probably post some pictures in a few days, but here’s something to look at in the meantime. My poor mind is boggling over how such a straightforward job anyone else would do or have done in a specific order has gotten so surreal. Thursday should be interesting, as it’s when we see if the next guy who shows up to do some work actually figures out what the hell it is he’s supposed to do and gets it right the first time.

Random Art: Monday’s Not as Manic, But a Bit Chuggy…

Hey Lady

Hmmm. Things are moving NOW with the internet up here, but for about an hour or two it was slow and annoying. I had to reset my computer to make sure things weren’t mucking up on this end (they weren’t), but now things are mostly okay. The crazy news of the day is NYC is supposed to be transforming 10,000 former pay phone locations into public wi-fi hubs, which is stupendous news. Well, if you live in the wealthier areas of the city and its outer boroughs, that is. According to the New York Daily News, some poor neighborhoods (which have MORE people in them, by the way) getting these extremely helpful solutions are getting kneecapped slower service on their kiosks, a bad thing if you consider access to information comes in handy for less educated people who need to be up on things. Granted, it’s up to those communities to put a foot down and demand the same service the hipsters get, but we’ll see what happens when these stations start rolling out.

Anyway, the lady, er, tree sketch above came from my head while I was waiting for the service here to kick back in. “Ar my seams straight?” Yeah, they’re fine, ma’am. Okay, now that things are back to “normal”, I need to get back to work!

Random Art: So Much For Sunday Success…

That Old Thing
Well, today was a total bust on the productivity front. Two Starbucks with two crappy signals meant me getting some exercise walking from one to the other and not posting anything all day. One had a connection that kept dropping out and the other had no connection at all. This particular location has an issue with their wi-fi being there sometimes and slow when more than ten or so devices are being used. Sometimes, waiting for the place to clear out helps. Today, it didn’t. Anyway, it wasn’t a total waste, ladies and gents. Have a tree on the house, a-ha and ha-ha.

Well, let me see if I can whip out another quickie post before pumpkin hour. I’m going to have a busy week coming up anyway playing catch up with a ton of posts, downloading some games to review and generally being occupied every day with some writing. I hate being so far behind, but every so often, this sort of annoyance can kick off a creativity spurt. Fie on you, still busted kitchen and other stupid troubles! POW! BAM! I’m a mushroom-cloud-layin’ motherf***er, motherf***er! I’m Superfly T.N.T., I’m the Guns of the Navarone! Yeah, stay out of my way Monday – you’ll just be bad for yourself at this point, grrrr!
