Gallery: Mortal Kombat

Well, a mere five screens isn't more than a super tease, but Warner Bros. Interactive wants MK fans to know that the franchise is indeed back and in fine hands. These shots show off the nicely detailed character models along with two maps, The Desert and The Bell Tower.

From Gamescom, here are some nice new images from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Day 1 Studios' upcoming horror/action FPS, set for a 2011 release. Looks like that perfectly nasty cannibal Paxton Fettle is back and playable as half of your two person team. An even creepier Alma is also in the mix in an even more freaky manner than usual (this time out, she's pregnant and having cravings for more than pickles and ice cream)…

From what we've seen so far, the game keeps what made the other chapters work while adding in some new twists to the scary shooting action. WBIE is putting out some very cool stuff these days, aren't they?

Super Scribblenauts Headphones Pre-Order Bonus

And I though Maxwell’s rooster hat from the first game was cool. PLUSH headphones that work. In camo, to boot! I have to have a pair just to wear while playing the game (as I’m one of the few humans left on the planet that actually doesn’t listen to music through headphones anymore while out in public).

Super Scribblenauts spells its way into stores on October 12, 2010. Be there or be S-Q-U-A-R-E.

The first two things you’ll need to realize about Scribblenauts are as follows:

1) it’s not a platformer at all
2) Trying to play it as such will make for quite a bit of frustration

The game is actually a fantastic hybrid puzzle/brain salad sandbox experience that lets you dive in to test your word power in a lot more interactive manner than traditional pen and paper word games. There are a load of puzzle as well as action based challenges that require a bit of thought if you want to see all the game has to offer. If you’re like me (that is, ancient enough to actually remember those classic Infocom or other text-based PC adventure games), what’s here is a bit like those oldies. However, you get to see what you input as text materialize on screen and you can interact with your choices in a number of amusing ways. Of course, you can simply sit back and let what you’re called forth do whatever it wants to do, which in my opinion, is the beauty of Scribblenauts’ design.

Scribblenauts Pre-Launch Event Spells F-U-N at Nintendo World

“What, no B-A-G?” That’s probably what Julie Cheng was thinking when she got the very first retail copy ofScribblenauts... or what you’re probably thinking Julie Cheng was thinking if you look at that photo long enough. Yup, these press photo ops are so darn obvious, it’s a bit comical to the more snarky eyeball such as mine…

Games On TV: Scribblenauts Commercial

Here you go: mildly amusing, although given the game’s superb originality, it comes off as a bit lower key than I thought it would be.

Ah well… I guess Middle America needs this super-clean version that can be shown at all hours of the day without the usual irate parents’ groups going off the deep end about the game for no reason at all other than it’ll make their kids see and use words in the dictionary that they’d rather them NOT know at all. Yeesh.

Anyway, go buy a copy when it hits stores on September 15!
