Data East Arcade Classics Coming To Wii In 2010

Ah, memories… Remember the good old days of arcade games such as BurgerTime, Heavy Barrel, Caveman Ninja and other Data East quarter munchers? well, thanks to Majesco, G-Mode and developer G1M2, if you’ve got twenty clams burning a hole in your Side Pocket come early 2010, you’re in for a treat.

Anyway, read up below, then start saving up those quarters, folks – this press release has your name written all over it. Screens underneath all the wordy stuff so you can reminisce about all that time you spent snagging those 1-UPs and trying to beat those Hi-Scores when you should have been hitting the books…

F1 2009 Wii Trailer

Nice bit of a tease for Condemasters’ upcoming F1 2009 showing of the new Singapore Course. Color me impressed at that frame rate and number of cars on the track. Fingers crossed that it’s got true simulation as well as arcade aspects so everyone can dive in and play.

More on this one as new info arrives – stay tuned…

Today: Live Dead Space Extraction Demo/Dev Commentary/Q & A!

How’s this for fan service? Just in time for today’s launch of the Wii-exclusive Dead Space Extraction, Visceral Games is hosting an hour-long live webcast featuring gameplay demos of the cinematic sci-fi horror/action hybrid along with a Q & A session with members of the game’s development team that you (yes, you) can be a part of. The fun begins at 12 noon, PST (that’s 3pm Eastern Time if you’re in New York), so click away on that link above and enjoy the show.

We’ll have a full review of Dead Space Extraction after our review copy arrives.

Now Shipping: Twice the Horror (or Obscure, Meet Dead Space)…

Two horror-themed titles have shipped for next week’s big release hoedown doozy of a game avalanche. There are also a ton of cool games in other different genres coming as well next Tuesday (and onward), so here’s a quick heads-up for you on some of what I’m looking forward to:

Dead Space Extraction (Wii) and Obscure: the Aftermath (PSP)are headed to retail on September 29th (as are Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga (Wii) and a bunch of other stuff I’ll post once I find time to compile the listing). Anyway, here’s a bit more on both titles (and a nice trailer for the Obscure sequel)…

Gallery: F1 2009

Codemasters’ upcoming Wii and PSP exclusive licensed racing game F1 2009 is coming this fall, so here’s a look at some beautiful screens from the Wii version. I can almost heat the whine of those engines! It’s certainly great news to see the Wii is finally getting more realistic racers. PS3 and Xbox 360 F1 fans interested in this one may have to make the jump, especially with the upcoming $50 Wii price cut this weekend. If the game is as good as (or better than) Paradigm’s stellar F1 World Grand Prix back on the N64, Codemasters will have a hit among Wii-owning Formula 1 fans.

Of course, buying a console for ONE racer isn’t a smart idea. Thankfully, there are a load of other titles in different genres that you might like. go do some research after you ogle these screens – I’ll wait…

Nintendo Drops Wii to $199, Introduces "World of Nintendo" Gaming Events

Of course this has NOTHING to do with all the other console price drops and oddball rebates, folks (*wink, wink*). It’s merely a recession fighting move by Nintendo to keep those Wiis rolling into homes across America (*wink, wink*).

Or something like that – press release below.

Hell, a price drop is a price drop and at $200, the Wii is a more attractive deal now to budget-minded gamers, especially now that more quality games are here or on the way. Personally, I do like those “World of Nintendo” events, which will be PACKED to the gills once word gets out.

Anyway, here you go…

Natsume’s Animal Kingdom: Wildlife Expedition Now In Stores

Natsume really wants to grab your photo safari gaming dollar, that’s for sure. First, Afrika gets announced as gold status for the PS3 and now, Wii owners get their own exclusive snapshot adventure with Animal Kingdom: Wildlife Expedition, which should be in stores as you’re reading this. This is a pretty smart move by the publisher, as this type of niche game seems to find wider appeal among all types of gamers and by having two similar but different games on two different (and not necessarily competing) platforms, gamers with either console will have their simulated safari without having to fork out cash for a new system.

Of course, folks like me with every console will have to end up buying BOTH games, but hey, it’s good news for Natsume, right? A little press release action and screenshots are below the jump.

Preview: Dead Space Extraction – Bringing Cinematic Sci-Fi/Horror to the Wii

Visceral Games in on a two-part mission with its upcoming Dead Space Extraction and it’s an important one. The first part is done: they’ve gone and created a great-looking, dynamically frightening console game designed to scare you right under the couch (while also laying the groundwork for future Dead Space titles). The second part is a bit tricky, meaning it’s all up to YOU to assist by buying the game and experiencing all that hard work put into the project for yourself.

I had the great opportunity to sit in on a live (and informative) Q & A session with a few members of the dev team, who all spoke passionately about the game while dropping a few interesting facts about developing it as a Wii exclusive.

Interview: Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga Q & A

Well, it took a little while, but given that Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga is shipping next week, the timing is actually perfect. I initially thought this would be a simple Q & A session with an Xseed employee or two, but thanks to Xseed’s Jimmy (“New Daddy!“) Soga and busy-bee PR guy extreme Scott Fry, the Q’s got sent out to Japan where I’ve the pleasure of noting that they were answered by Kiyoji Tomita, Section Chief at KUROGANE (the Osaka-based team assisting K2 with the development and localization process). How’s that for service?

Anyway, here we go – enjoy!

Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga Gets Ship Date, Web Site

It’s allllllllllmost here, department: Xseed Games’ next Wii exclusive, Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga is set to hit stores across North America on September 29, 2009. The K2/Marvelous Entertainment-developed Action/RPG also has an official website up now with loads of great game info, screens, wallpapers and some really nice music from the game playing in the background. In case you haven’t been following the game to date, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect in an easy to digest press release format.

And in case you’re asking, yep, I’m still holding my breath for those VKES interview questions I sent off a while ago. I know that there’s been a LOT going on over at Xseed (including at least one new Xseed baby – Congratulations, Jimmy!), but I’m a supremely patient sort these days…
