Game of Thrones Season Two Recap: In Case You Missed It (Pay Attention Next Time!)

Roberta'sOK, OK… I was “off” most of yesterday and today thanks to last night’s Brooklyn shenanigans. Some art gallery visiting, meeting up with some friends I hadn’t seen in over 10 years and a three-hour wait for Roberta’s Pizza, which was a looooong damn wait for anything, but well worth it as that’s some REALLY good pizza they make (… people wait for). Anyway, I had a birthday party of sorts to attend today, so I haven’t had the chance to get in my minimum five or so daily posts. Ah well. Here’s that GoT recap show I posted about a few days back. Tomorrow is another day (and I’ll be making up lost progress then. Off to catch some rest after I watch the Shameless episode I missed.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Vlogs: Behind the Scenes (Before The Scenery’s All Chewed Up)…

Annnnd while you’re camped out in front of the TV for Season 3 of GoT to fire up your living room (or wherever you watch this show), Here’s a peek at some making of video logs, but I’m not FORCING you to watch these, you know. Hell, you may already have seen them if you’re one of those fans of the show scouring the Internet for every scrap of info. Hey, I try here at DAF, I try. And all without charging you a red cent! Just doing my job, folks… just doing my job…

FUSE Character Profiles: Four You’ll Want Fighting For Your Side

fuse_PS3fuse_360Insomniac is finally rolling out some cool video profiles of the four playable characters from its upcoming PS3/Xbox 360 game FUSE, set to hit stores this spring. So, without further delay (other than making your way through my scribblings) here’s a look-see at Naya (above), Izzy, Dalton and Jacob (all below the jump). Hey, ladies first, I say. Especially if they can kick a bunch of butt around the room like these two can. Continue reading

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Teaser: Techland’s Back in the Saddle Again

After the bumpy detour into modern times (the well-intentioned but flawed Call of Juarez: The Cartel), Techland is taking its wild western series back where it’s always belonged and if the comments on the YouTube channel are any indication, fans of this series are (so far) more than pleased. March 14 will see the full version of this trailer drop and perhaps some gameplay will show up as well. Given the developer’s expertise in producing some incredibly stunning looking visuals, there’s absolutely zero doubt that this will be a mighty fine looker. Of course, it’s ALWAYS the gameplay that counts and I’m gathering the team has been busy polishing that to a new badge shine. As always, we shall see…

Metal Gear Rising Mural Project: Games As Art (And Lesson of the Day)…

It’s always really cool to see and type of video game art go up in public as advertising and a way to get a few artists noticed by folks who’ve never heard of them. Here’s Yoji Shinkawa’s incredible line art brought to life by artist Jim Vision (EndoftheLine) in this slick time-lapse video. I’m sure there’s a Metal Gear fan out there buying up cheap airline tickets and trying to pack a hammer and chisel in that carry-on bag. Of course, the SMART thing to do is bring an empty bag, BUY the appropriate tools in each city, crate up and ship your prize back (via seamail) before you leave (which will be a few weeks to years, as you’re going directly to jail for taking down the side of a building just to get that piece of amazing art for your collection)…

FUSE Hands-On: Insomniac Wants You Up All Night With Their Co-op Focused Shooter

FUSE_logo_blk

fuse_PS3fuse_360In a way, FUSE is probably Insomniac’s most important game to date. The veteran games studio is well know worldwide among critics and PlayStation fans (and anyone else who happens to be console agnostic) who knows everything the developer has done has been of the highest quality. Sit down with any Insomniac title and you’ll find plenty of outstanding design, excellent visuals, and games that are just pure fun to play. Much of that work has held up over time (yes, even Disruptor) and as their first multi-platform release, the game looks to the carry those traditions to both the PS3 and Xbox 360. EA had a new demo of the game up and running at their spring press event a few weeks back and it was one of those cases where I walked up to the demo setup with a huge grin and left holding the top of my head so it wouldn’t fall off because that grin got a wee bit too wide. The co-op focused shooter formerly known as Overstrike looks spectacular, controls like a dream and more importantly, is certainly geared towards expert players.

Resident Evil Revelations Infernal Mode: On May 21, You Just May Get That “Jill Sandwich” After All…

Ouch and double ouch.

RER_WiiU RER_PS3 RER_360

Moved-around monsters (with new ones to face),
items and crates now put in new place!
This is no straight port of the 3DS game
so if you die fast, you’re the one to blame.

It’s bound for PS3, 360 and Wii U May 21st
if you’re not prepared, you’ll just be the worst
So take some time off to practice your dodging
so you can spend that day off holed up in your lodging.

A boat full of nasty undead and more lurk
you’re going in alone, but don’t be a jerk
There’s no co-op here to save your nice skins
But Raid Mode is co-op for some sure-fire wins.

Those graphics are all redone in shiny HD
For all the gore, the game actually looks quite pretty
But admire the detail a wee bit too long,
and you’ll see naught but red when poor Jill’s head’s gone!

OK, If You Want A 16-Bit Cliff Notes Version of Game of Thrones, Here You Go…

Amusingly enough, I’m sitting here and listening to some people talk about the new season, all guessing and overspeculating their hipster glasses and skinny jeans off when one of them mentions the good Doctor Octoroc and his amazingly funny GoT mock video game video he cooked up for Collegehumor.com from about a year or so ago. In case you haven’t seen it yet, the edited version is above. If you want to see it as intended, just clicky-click HERE, sit back and prepare to fall off something onto something (preferably soft). I’d post the video directly, but like the books and show, it’s kinda ranuchy (well, in a Super Nintendo kind of way). You’ve been warned (but you’ll laugh yourself silly anyway)…

Game of Thrones Season 3 Extrended Trailer: A Little More Suspense, A Few Less Questions…

Fortunately, for my old-school ass (and yours if you agree, not that I’m trolling for compliments or anything, grrrr!) I’m not one of the more overly obsessive fans of the show who HAS to know everything before it happens nor do I want to be bashed over the head before the show kicks off its new set of tales with spoiler-packed teasers that make half the season predictable as sticking water in the freezer and getting ice back at some point. Of course, trying to predict how this season will go will be like sticking water in that same freezer and expecting frozen roses to pop out a few hours later, but hey – a lot of suspense goes a really long way and makes the wait more than worthwhile…

Defiance Ark Hunter Chronicles 1 & 2: Building Up That Mythology Is Very Helpful…

As Trion Worlds and syfy get ready to roll out Defiance on April 2, they’re dropping all sorts of background mini-movies and excellently produced trailers on the game, game world, creatures and other features (like these Ark Hunter Chronicles vids) in order to have a big, fat and very necessary back story to all the events you’ll soon be watching (and hopefully, playing). This is indeed a good thing and potential viewers and players of the innovative TV show/MMORPG hybrid will probably want every little thing to sync up as perfectly as possible to pleas and appease even the pickiest of nitpickers. It works for me (but I’d still prefer that great looking and playing game – it’s REALLY fun – to have an offline mode)…
