Miserable weather or not, learning all you need about dispatching zombies and staying alive on a desert island are always handy skills. 505 Games dropped EKO Games’ How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition for the PS4 onto PSN and Xbox Live yesterday and it’s a must buy if you’re a fan of the original game or are entirely new to the experience. This visually gussied up version gives you the original game plus all six DLC packs for a decent price. While best with friends, the game offers up a hefty solo challenge with decent AI. Just make sure you watch where you aim, chop or punch. “Friendly” fire can’t be toggled off as far as I know and you don’t want to accidentally knock off your AI companion. Anyway, this one’s quite cool and funny for a fairly violent game – go check it out, I say.

BUY IT! Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut Gets Price Slashed in Time for Halloween

In case you missed this great and epic oddball horror adventure from Access games and the mind of Swery 65, well, you now have ZERO reason not to want to try it out (well, unless you don’t have a decent enough PC to run the game, of course!). Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut is now (well, from now until October 27) a measly $2.49 on Steam! That’s like $24.99 with a “9” missing! Or 90% off, if you actually know how to do math better than I do it. The Steam version adds some new content and nicer visuals than the console versions, but don’t go in expecting the most stellar looking game that’s perfection in all areas.
Come visit Greenvale for the weird people and offbeat vibe and stay for the surprisingly more compelling and poignant tale that unfolds as the game progresses. DPTDC has surprises in store for those who stick it out and survive each chapter and by the finale, you’ll emerge as someone who might want to try more games in this vein because this one went above and beyond the call in a few key areas. Anyway, enough rambling from me – go get this game!
PlayStation Store Flash Sale Time: 60 Games and Movies Up For Grabs!
Amusingly enough, I actually forgot that there was a Heavenly Sword movie made well after the game made its PS3 debut. That said, seeing it in this latest PlayStation Store Flash Sale made me want to maybe check it out. Maybe. I kind of prefer owning physical media, so I may end up seeing if I can snag this on DVD for a song somewhere. As for the other stuff on that lone list? Well, here you go – take a look and maybe grab your self a deal this weekend – prices go back to normal on Monday (October 20) at noon:

How To Survive: Storm Warning Hands-on: Oh, You’ll Die Anyway (And Love Every Minute of It)…
Okay, so I’d not played EKO Software’s How to Survive at all on the PS3 because it was a digital-only title, I was fed up with zombie games and figured missing one wouldn’t be a total loss. Boy, was I wrong on that front. When 505 Games invited me to see and play the enhanced PS4 version, How To Survive: Storm Warning Edition (along with some really stupendous mobile titles I’ll need to write about soon), I popped up with no expectations (a good way to approach any new game, folks) but came away very impressed with the brutally challenging game with the most fitting name. If you’ve played this on other platforms and love it, you know the drill and this one’s been keeping you busy for a while. If you’re new to the game and happen to have a PS4, you’ll be pleased to know this version will bring you the original release and DLC in the same download… Continue reading
Jet Car Stunts Launch Trailer: Get a Grip With This Speedy Arcade Racer Next Tuesday on PS3 & Vita
Welly, well-well. I’ve actually never played Grip Games‘ rhater awesome looking Jet Car Stunts, but after seeing this trailer, I really want to see if I can survive some of those treacherous track designs. While this is already out (as of October 1) on mobile and Xbox Live, I rarely play mobile games all of my Xbox 360’s are dead and I want to play this on the Vita and PS3 anyway just because I still use those systems the most and despite what some editor-types are saying, neither one is quite “dead” just yet. Flying cars may not be a reality again for a while, but this could be the next best thing. Well, provided you have no fear of heights, falling, bright cartoon colors and what look like Hot Wheels cars with pop up aerodynamic handling. I’m in on all this, so next week will be a fun one. Hell, I’ll need SOMETHING bright and cheery to take me away from Alien Isolation and its relentless horror, so this may be the game I grab when I need a break.
The Great Backlog Dupe Giveaway 4: Two Alien Invasions For You To Halt!
Yeah, you COULD go out like one of these not too bright chumps in the “classic” low-budget 1980 sci-fi flick (It Came) Without Warning, OR you could dive into the TWO Steam games I’m giving away to ONE lucky winner and learn some actual alien invasion survival tactics that will come in VERY handy! That’s right, folks! Today’s giveaway consists of Altar Studios’ UFO: Aftermath and UFO: Aftershock, two tactical strategy games inspired by the classic X-Com franchise:
All you need to do is be the first one to respond and both codes are YOURS. Yes, you need a Steam account and a valid email address (which you don’t need to post – I’ll find you, don’t worry). It will take me a bit longer to respond today, as I’m actually not at the home office and will be back there in a few hours to respond to the lucky winner, so don’t fret if you post first and don’t hear back right away.
Okay, enough reading – you’ve got some games to win and play! GOOD LUCK!
The Great Backlog Dupe Giveaway 3: You Built This City!
That music video above is one for what some call the “worst song ever written” and while I don’t quite agree with that statement, it’s what some folks also feel about the city and/or military simulation genre. Poor jaded or inexperienced gamers, those folks are, I say. Anyway, if you happen to LOVE simulation games, city building, diplomacy and in cases of war scenarios, sharpening horse’s hooves every six turns, well, today’s giveaway is right up your alley: Two codes, Two winners this time:
The Tropico Trilogy (Tropico, Tropico 2: Pirate Cove, Tropico 3 PLUS the Absolute Power expansion) is giveaway number one. That’s THREE games where you get to take your banana republic and turn it into a tourist paradise (or tourist trap, your choice!). Bug me for a Steam code or I feed this toy boat I have to the sharks!
The second game is a lot more serious and historical: Imperium Romanum: Gold Edition, where you can get your inner Caesar on for a few weeks or longer in this massive simulation game. Same rules as before reply and get a code. Two codes, two different winners (and yeah, two different e-mail addresses).
The Great Backlog Dupe Giveaway 2: Your Kingdom For A Horse!
Okay, let’s keep it short and sweet. I have TOO many duplicate Steam codes thanks to cheap bundles galore that I’ve purchased over time. I need to get rid of some so YOU get to reap the rewards and pay not a dime. Today’s code is a doozy of a game: TaleWorlds and Paradox Interactive’s Mount & Blade:
This is just the huge original game, NOT the Warband or of With Fire & Sword expansions. That said, the amount of stuff you can do with the core game is ridiculous and there’s an endless amount of replay value in this deep open-world RPG experience.
Anyway, enough babbling – first one to post gets the Steam code. Have an active Steam account and working email address please (don’t post it in your reply. I value your privacy, silly!). Good Luck!
The Great Backlog Dupe Giveaway Begins! Get A Steam Code FREE!
EDIT: Gyaaah. Show’s OVER, monkey’s dead! THAT was fast. Usually, I do a giveaway one the site and I get crickets chirping for at least an hour to a half day! Anyway, congrats to Matt! The rest of you? You get to come back tomorrow for another try. To keep this fair, anyone who wins can’t enter again for THIS backlog clearing business while it’s ongoing, but you can still enter any other giveaway I run here.
Okay, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, but it’s been a bit hectic running this site all by myself (*sob!*). Any-way, you DO have an active Steam account, right? You like FREE stuff, right? Well, GOOD on both counts, pal! I’m getting rid of some of my duplicate game codes here from assorted bundles I’ve purchased and you (yes, YOU!) have the chance to claim one for yourself. I was initially going to post a bunch of codes here and let you all have at it, but that would be a DUMB idea because one person would simply grab them all and giggle all the way to a fuller games library, grrrr! So, we’ll keep it SIMPLE and just like the other giveaways I do here. Post a reply below and the game of the day is YOURS. First post gets it, if you don’t win, try again tomorrow until I run out of codes. No need to post an email address or other personal info – I can find you easier than you’d think.
So, what’s today’s game? Well, it’s TWO games, ONE code actually – the classic duo of Wizardry VI and VII:
BOOM. Excited? Well, stop bouncing up and down in your seat and grab this before someone else does! Anyway, GOOD LUCK and check back in tomorrow for another code. I’m mixing it up a bit, so even I have NO idea of what game is next on the freebie agenda!
IndieGala Every Monday Dishes Out Doujin For A Dollar (Just For A Day!)…
It’s yet another Monday and you need some stupidly wonderful game deal to start your week out, right? Well, there are plenty out there, but I’d say this IndieGala Every Monday Bundle takes the cake in terms of bang for your literal buck. Pay a whole DOLLAR (just one!) for eight Doujin games (the price goes up tomorrow), get Steam and Desura codes for them and get ready to put yourself into a digital coma because you’ve now go too much to do on this otherwise oddball day where stuff happens just because it happens and your poor head is spinning by the time you’re home and wondering what the heck NEXT Monday will bring. The bright side says ANOTHER IndieGala sale, so keep that in mind as you snap up this deal.
