Meh, nothing to see here. Move along! Started this before Game of Thrones kicked off, waited until that was over (yes, it was a fantastic premiere to Season 4) and finished it while being not at all impressed with the House of Lies season finale. Bleh, that was an annoying half hour of mostly unlikable people to see. Anyway, here you go. Did I mention i don’t believe much in ghosts, either? Hey, I have enough on my plate in real life to be walking around falling over stuff every time I hear a floorboard creak or see something flit by in my peripheral vision. I don’t even think I liked Boo Berry as a cereal (because Franken Berry and Count Chocula would have beaten the crap out of me if I let one more monster-themed cereal in the house)…

Child of Light is My Game of the Month (And I Haven’t Even Played It)
Well, what else is new, right? As soon as I saw screen shots of Ubisoft’s upcoming RPG Child of Light, then video of it in action, I had to immediately add it to the top of my “PLAY IT OR ELSE!” pile and add both a background and banner using the gorgeous art to the site. It’s coming out April 30, 2014 for PC, PS3/PS4, Xbox 360/Xbox One and Wii U, so if you’re currently owning one of these systems or have a PC capable of running this game, you pretty much have zero excuse not to snap this up. That new UbiArt Framework tech makes the game look like a storybook come to life and I’d love to see it get used as a game making tool by an even wider range of artists as the years go by. Of course, as this is a digital only release, I’m hoping it’s not gone and forgotten by gamers out there who still prefer packaged titles for a few key reasons. But as with anything rolling out these days in this economy, we’ll see what happens…
Random Art: Not Quite A Tree This Time, Man. Thing Is, It Was Once…
The cool thing about drawing digitally is you can make mistakes and “fix” them without going through piles of paper. Anyway, this Man-Thing started out as another tree sketch, but I mucked it up a bit too much and was about to scrap it when I saw a hint of something, flipped the image, did some playing around, flipped it again and decided to keep hacking away until I got this as a result. Yeah, he sort of looks like he needs a tattoo on that arm of his and there should maybe be a low rider in the background bouncing up and down to some trippy beat, but hey – it was late and I couldn’t stop once my brain started moving my hand around. That happens a lot these days it seems, so I just go with the flow…
Random Art: Darn Kids And Their Subliminally Cheesy Requests!
Ha. So, the library seems to be slipping in it’s “shut the hell up” policy, as lately, I can’t spend a few hours there writing without someone yakking on and on about stuff no one needs to hear about. Between the guy yelling out his credit card numbers and such while ordering personal care supplies, the geeky teenage guy with the whiny voice hiccuping and burping while sexting and chatting too loud with his sweetie for something like three hours non-freakin’ stop (I swear, if I hear him kiss his phone one more time, then hiccup and burp, he’s going to need a lip cast), I’m about to go postal in public. Of course, every now and then I get treated to something that’s actually hilarious like the kid today who kept begging his mom to take him home so he could have some string cheese. As he kept hitting the resend button on that vocal tweet, my brain kept hearing string TREES, so I stopped working on the article I had been trying to complete and knocked this piece out. Thank you annoying child and his mom who finally went home after something like a thousand requests for processed dairy product!
Random Art: It’s National Crayon Day? Okay, Go Celebrate!
Wah! I did not know this, but it IS! As I just found out about this and am at the library, I have no crayons to scribble this post with or do a fast sketch to post. On the other hand, I do just so happen to have an old piece I did on my deviantArt page that LOOKS as if it was drawn with a crayon, so here you go. Anyway, time to get learned a little!
Here’s some handy info for you fresh from the fine folks at Crayola:
Did you know…
– The first box of Crayola crayons was introduced in 1903. It sold for a nickel and included the same eight colors available today: red, blue, yellow, green, violet, orange, black and brown.
– Crayola produces nearly 3 billion crayons each year, an average of 12 million wax sticks daily. That’s enough to circle the globe 6 times!
– The average child in the United States will wear down about 730 crayons by his or her 10th birthday (11,464 boxes or 7 lbs of crayons) enough to cover an NBA basketball court!
– According to Christian Science Monitor, parents buy enough crayons in a year to make a giant crayon 35 feet wide and 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty!
So, yeah, let the kid(s) get away with that wall decorating to-day. Who knows, you could have the next Van Gogh “ruining” your formerly freshly painted walls or other surfaces!
Random Art: Rainy Saturday, Misty Scribblings…
Yeah, the hits just keep on coming… sort of. Okay, I got really lazy with this piece, as the first sketch I did was more detailed and this piece is pretty simple compared to that. I still have that first sketch and may dive back into it at some point to pit in all those details, but we’ll see. I’m just surprised I have the time to draw these days. Okay, time to shut up and get back to work, as my backlog is glaring at me and shaking a fist or three…
Random Art: Return of the One-Track (Or Is It One Tree?) Mind…
Eh, another day, another tree sketch from my big head full of thoughts. What can I say? Well other than I was doing a bunch of small to large downloads this week and had some time to kill. This one was relatively quick to bang out (as you can tell). Okay, I’m off to a late start today, folks. I need to jet out of here and run walk quickly to my favorite wi-fi spot to get a post or two in before the rains come. Yeah, winter is dead, but spring has some not so nice weather surprises up its greener sleeves, it seems. Rainy weekend, anyone?
Random Art (Too): Oh, What The Heck – You Were Good Today…
I was going to post this tomorrow or later, but I see you all did something good today and you deserve a reward. What, you thought I was going to rent more buses and take you all to the movies like last time? Ha! I learned my lesson from that debacle. Half of you got on the wrong buses and ended up in the wrong states and that was a bit TOO brain-melting to deal with what with all those phone calls I had to take and make. Anyway, I’m sticking to more arty gifts from now on. Less stress and you can’t complain, get ill from eating too much (well, art shouldn’t be eaten unless it’s made to be eaten!) or stick it somewhere it doesn’t belong. You’re welcome, by the way!
Random Art: What’s Inside My Head Is Still The Same As It Ever Was…
Well, this was a spur of the moment piece where I just sat down and started fiddling and fidgeting the mouse around until I had a general idea of where I wanted to go before changing my mind and just playing it by ear until I stopped. There’s a second piece I’ll run in a day or so. It’s a “companion” of sorts, as the title is the same and it’s kind of an odd bookend. Of course, If I do a third piece that’s similar, there goes the whole bookend thing, huh? Stay tuned…
Random Art: It’s Still Not Spring In My Skull Yet…
But that’s a good thing, I guess. This one popped out of the brain with no idea where it wanted to head when I sat down to work on it and it probably needs some tinkering. I don’t like reworking stuff after it’s “done” so I don’t think I’ll touch this again. I’d rather whip out something fresh over tinkering on something and perhaps ruining it, but that’s never stopped other artists from doing just that with their old stuff. Eh, enough thinking – I need to get some sleep! Good Night, all…
