Darkstalkers Resurrection Launch Trailer: I Bet Capcom’s Conducting A Little Fighting Experiment…

As in “put up or shut up, Darkstalkers fans!” Yeah, you’ve been whining and wanting for years to see these characters again, but Capcom is smarter than you are. So, instead of an expensive to produce *NEW* game starring these guys and gals, they HD-gussied up the old ones for PSN and XBLA users to download at a great price and are probably going to be counting those purchases and review scores verrrry carefully. Sure, I’d LOVE a new game in the vein of the Street Fighter IV reboot (and I think we’ll see one at some point). But I’m betting this reissue is an interest gauge disguised as an impulse purchase, so those “fans” still complaining now about the game or Capcom in general who don’t buy this will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don’t shell out the shekels.

Alien Spidy Set to Crawl Onto Xbox Live, PC, Mac on March 20th

alien spidy artIn the mood for some classic platforming action? Do you like (or more precisely, are you not afraid of) SPIDERS? Well, then… Kalypso Media Digital and developer Enigma Software Productions have a fun little indie game for you (well, provided you own a PC, Mac, Xbox 360 or PS3). Alien Spidy packs in 69 levels of that aforementioned platforming straight out the the NES and arcade days with pretty HD visuals and plenty of challenge. PS3 owners? You’ll be getting a version shortly afterward and it’ll cost the same $9.99 as PC and Mac owners will pay. XBLA users have to pony up 800 Microsoft Points (which is sort of the same price, I think) for the pleasure of playing with Spidy. I’m gathering that if you haven’t hit your monitor with a shoe or sprayed it with Raid ’til it keeled over DEAD, you’re still intrigued, so here are some screenshots to ogle while you wait for the 20th to roll around…

Capcom Arcade Trivia: “Did You Know…” You Don’t Need A Coin Drop On Your TV To Play These?

No big prizes for knowing this stuff already, folks… BUT if you hadn’t a clue before, now you know AND there’s the whole side benefit of looking and sounding REALLY cool to your geek buddies who think you need to play more games. Or something like that. Video game history is pretty awesome at the end of the day no matter how you look at it, I say. Capcom Arcade Cabinet is out NOW for the PS3 (via PSN) and Xbox 360 (via XBLA). It’s possibly coming to other platforms, but you didn’t hear it here. Yet.

Lost Planet 3 Cover Art: More Focus on the Man Than Machine (Is A Good Thing)…

Lost Planet 3 PS3lostplanet 3 360Given the major focus on the story and characters in the game (which is a PREQUEL and not a sequel, numbering aside) and the great-looking in-engine movies that feature some great motion capture work, Capcom deciding to make the cover of Lost Planet 3 look like an advertisement for Space Road Truckers or some other future Discovery Channel series is wiggling the already bent antennae of some fans of the franchise the wrong way. I rather like the cover, but I initially thought they’d go with a similar cover design to the previous two games. Then again, once the game is actually played by the skeptics (some of the same folks who bashed DmC for too long before realizing they were completely WRONG about it), I’m sure the bile will settle down a bit more. So far, Capcom is batting ahead of the fan curve this year (at least in my book)…

Defiance: Arkhunter Chronicles 3 & Weapons Modifications: More Fictional Fat For The Fire

With that April launch rolling up sooner than you think, Trion Worlds and syfy continue to let loose more and more fun Defiance lore and game info. Here’s the third Arkhunter Chronicles video and below that, a look at some of the many weapons you can modify to your tastes in the game. Sure,it’s no Borderlands 2 with it’s bazillions of guns, but there’s more than enough here to keep the fans busy for quite some time. Speaking of… as I’ve been saying for some time now, the game looks really fantastic and plays as smooth as silk. At this point, it’s really all up to the show to hook the skeptics in (as in,it BETTER be great from episode one) and get them to plunk down that AAA game price for what’s looking to be one of the big deal potential Game of the Year candidates if everything comes together as all are hoping…

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons: Starbreeze’s Fantasy Fairy Tale Coming to PSN, XBL, Steam This Spring

Brothers_Logo

And just exactly what has Starbreeze Studios been up to these days you ask? Well, the busy and super-talanted developer has been collaborating with Swedish film director Josef Fares on an upcoming digital-only fantasy game headed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Steam this spring and published by 505 Games. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons lets you control a pair of siblings with a single controller as they try to find a cure for their ailing father in a nicely detailed stylized fantasy world. Check out the teaser above and the short walkthrough clip below to see how the game will play. This one looks quite cool and hopefully will gain a strong following and not get buried in the rather large online game libraries on PSN, Xbox Live and Steam. As always, we shall see…

FUSE Character Profiles: Four You’ll Want Fighting For Your Side

fuse_PS3fuse_360Insomniac is finally rolling out some cool video profiles of the four playable characters from its upcoming PS3/Xbox 360 game FUSE, set to hit stores this spring. So, without further delay (other than making your way through my scribblings) here’s a look-see at Naya (above), Izzy, Dalton and Jacob (all below the jump). Hey, ladies first, I say. Especially if they can kick a bunch of butt around the room like these two can. Continue reading

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Teaser: Techland’s Back in the Saddle Again

After the bumpy detour into modern times (the well-intentioned but flawed Call of Juarez: The Cartel), Techland is taking its wild western series back where it’s always belonged and if the comments on the YouTube channel are any indication, fans of this series are (so far) more than pleased. March 14 will see the full version of this trailer drop and perhaps some gameplay will show up as well. Given the developer’s expertise in producing some incredibly stunning looking visuals, there’s absolutely zero doubt that this will be a mighty fine looker. Of course, it’s ALWAYS the gameplay that counts and I’m gathering the team has been busy polishing that to a new badge shine. As always, we shall see…

BioShock Infinite’s Booker/Elizabeth Duet Brings Back AM Radio Memories…

Well, well… if it isn’t 1972 all over again! I actually got a good laugh in when seeing this video for a few reasons, but I really HOPE this song doesn’t show up until the end credits or isn’t in the game at all, as it’s the last thing I can see some “core” players expecting. What’s next? “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” played on the gatling gun by that George Washinton-looking mech boss? THAT would be pretty funny. Or maybe “Dueling Banjos” done by some of the NPC townsfolk of Columbia? Hey, I’m a child of the 70’s… I could do this all day… I actually wish we had all those old classics mixed up with soul, rock,R&B and more like AM radio USED to do so well before it became polluted by talkers and schemers with low brain cell counts and big mouths…

Carnage Heart EXA Goes Gold, Gets Nicely Detailed Facebook Tutorial…

Well, Natsume kind of (and very smartly) realizes that this isn’t your garden variety “casual” game at all, so with the announcement that Artdink’s PSP exclusive,Carnage Heart EXA has gone gold and will be available for download on PSN on March 19, comes a cool link on the company’s  Facebook page that walks you through some basic “programming” skills needed to get your OKE’s up and running as they should. “What’s an OKE?” you ask? Well, dear…just go check that fb page out and see for yourself (the link should be on the right side). I’m about to run home before this stupid storm that’s about to roll through here kicks off…
