Update: Prison Break – New Screens

Deep Silver and Zootfly’s in development console game based on the defunct Fox TV show is still rolling along nicely and looking quite good. Here’s a peek at a few more screens showing off some nice character models and well-rendered environments. All it needs is to get finished and be fun to play and I’m happy.

Oh… Shipping before the short attention span crowd forgets about the show entirely might help as well. Based on all the work going into what’s here, it’ll be really interesting to see how this one turns out. Stick around for more info and images as they become available

Borderlands Shoots Into Retail for PS3, 360

All I know is the FAQ writers and completion gamers’ heads are EXPLODING at the thought of collecting EVERY weapon they MUST have as they blast through Pandora’s population. “Ha ha haaaa!” Gearbox laughs at you with relish (and onions). Just try to enjoy the game and not obsess over getting every darn weapon, I say.

Hey 2K! Has someone at Gearbox even bothered to estimate how long it would take to actually nab every gun in the game? Run that program and post the results – that should give some of those folks out there a fit and a half if they’re the type that HAS to get everything a game can offer!

Anyway, press release below the jump – go buy the game. Three very cool screens from The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC are also here for your perusal. Color me scared and amused already!

Gallery: Two Worlds II

One of the more under-appreciated RPGs in the US this console generation had to be Reality Pump’s Two Worlds, an open world action-based RPG experience with plenty to see and do (and some rather interesting monster designs). While the game wasn’t perfect and had an ending that cut off any further exploration once the main quest was completed, there were more than enough enjoyable elements to keep me hooked in for hours at a stretch. Let’s just say I spent a huge amount of time crafting up the perfect weapons and armor set. That and learning all those great summon spells so by the endgame, my character was pretty unstoppable by the endgame…

Update: Splatterhouse

Just when you thought it was dead and gone (or at least delayed indefinitely to the ninth circle of development hell), Namco Bandai unearths a few new screens and info from Splatterhouse, set for a Q3 2010 release on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Given all the stormy stuff that took place during the game’s bumpy early development process, it’s excellent to see the project still going strong and looking quite nice (well, “nice” in a gory, horror game sort of way).

Now that this is an in-house development deal, my one suggestion to Namco Bandai (and I’m sure they’ve gotten this request already) is to PLEASE add some awesome bonuses to this one for us fans of the original games! It would be really fantastic to see either the Arcade version of the original or perhaps the Genesis versions of Splatterhouse 2 and Splatterhouse 3 as bonuses. Heck, how about the very fun Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti, a hilarious Famicom game with great SD graphics and a pretty funny storyline? If that’s not possible, at LEAST give us a gallery of classic and new images that’s high-res with a zoom feature so folks can check out the art and not have to squint their eyeballs out of their sockets…

Fairytale Fights Magazine Ad (Not For The Kids!)

Playlogic says it loud: “We’re M-rated and we’re proud!” with this hilariously bloody magazine ad for the upcoming hack ‘n slash/platformer hybrid. Pretty funny stuff if you ask me and yup, PROVES without a shadow of a doubt that this one’s NOT for the kiddies. AT. ALL. So, there.

Fairytale Fights ships on October 27, 2009. Yeah, go pre-order this one before the ban-happy crowd find out about it. It’s going to be a real doozy of ultra-violence, that’s for sure…

Dragon Age: Origins Double Update: Premium DLC On Day One!

Yowza – Yeah, yeah, I JUST ran a post on the game, but I just now checked my VPO email and this popped out at me. Man, this whole Dragon Age: Origins deal is getting pretty damn awesome by the day, huh? BioWare just plain rocks when it needs to (which is always in my book). Check out the official press release for the juicy, happy details… and go PRE-ORDER the game if you haven’t, grrrrr…

Dragon Age: Origins Update #6: Broodmother

In this week’s Dragon Age: Origins update, we take a look at one particularly nasty game bug (what?)… one that’s supposed to be in the game (calm down, now), and a BIG one at that (You may want to start screaming right about… now). Ewwww. I could say something silly like “Brood to the Mother” or worse (although that’s pretty damn terrible), but I’m only trying to lighten the mood a bit. Man, is that one ugly mass of monster. She looks like she ate Jabba the Hutt, his entourage and about half of the Death Star with a side dish of cold Cthulhu cutlets. Color me rattled. Thanks, BioWare. Get the Raid and hobnail boots ready, folks – here’s this week’s intro text and screenshots (and a nicely bloody trailer, which is HERE – not for the kiddies):

Broodmother

No one knows how the Darkspawn truly live in their tainted warrens beneath the earth, although a few Grey Wardens have, on occasion, delved deep into the old Dwarven tunnels in an effort to find the heart of the Darkspawn corruption and scour it clean. Those who ever returned, did so with ashen faces and spoke only of a creature called a “Broodmother” that haunted their dreams for the rest of their short existence. What the Broodmother truly is, only the Grey Wardens know for certain.

Dragon Age: Origins hits stores on November 3rd for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Back with another update soon!

Fairytale Fights Achievements/Trophies List Revealed

Here you go – most of the Achievements and Trophies in the PS3 and 360 versions of Playlogic’s upcoming beat ’em up/action/platform hybrid. I can see plenty of folks diving right into the blood sliding stuff, as it’s certainly a ton of fun (except when you go sailing off a cliff!) and from what I’ve played, nabbing loot and finding treasure chests can get addictive if you’re a completion hound that HAS to have everything. Bumping off 250 enemies with no weapons? That one should be a breeze, given the great combat system and how cool it is to use.

As for the rest? Well, read on, MacDuff…
