Yeah, you know you want one (or all of these) even if you’re lousy at playing the guitar. Peavey Electronics and Warner Bros. Consumer Products are rolling out a cool line of DC Comics superhero-themed guitars and accessories starting this summer with a half-size Peavey acoustic guitar featuring a number of popular DC Comics Super Heroes, followed by a three-quarter size Peavey electric guitar and a full-size Peavey Rockmaster® electric guitar. Peavey will also release guitar picks and straps featuring DC Comics Super Heroes and villains such as Aquaman and The Joker (pictured below), as well as Watchmen and other fan favorites. Hmmm… even though it’s in “fat chance” territory, I think a Swamp Thing guitar would be a pretty wild addition to this lineup. Anyway, here’s a look at three cool electrics from the upcoming lineup – flip a coin like Two-Face or buy them all (like you knew you were going to as soon as you clicked on each image).

Peavey DC Comics Superman Rockmaster Peavey DC Comics Batman Rockmaster Peavey DC Comics Joker Rockmaster

Hmmmm.. given The Joker’s tendencies for oddball gags at inopportune moments, I have to wonder if that Rockmaster is loaded with a little something extra you’ll only discover by playing notes in a certain order? Well, there’s one way to find out – as in buy this for a friend and see what happens when he or she plays it… Just make sure you’re oh, about 30 feet away have have a good umbrella handy…

Dead Space Liberation: Something To Read While You’re Too Scared To Play…

My hands-on impressions of Dead Space 3 are embargoed for a bit by EA, but they’re definitely not keeping quiet about this upcoming treat for fans who want even more lore. Liberation arrives on February 15, 2013 and yup, is a prequel to the events of the upcoming third installment in the series. The folks at Visceral certainly have a big story to tell and between the new game and this book, I can see a lot of you out there not sleeping much. For a few reasons…

Max Payne 3: After The Fall Graphic Novel: A Perfect Companion Piece For That Downtime…

With a three-part story written by Rockstar head Dan Houser AND Remedy Studios’ Dan Lake, fans of the game series should be wanting to snap this up one wherever it appears. The graphic novel will have its digital premiere later this week, followed up by a limited edition retail release that I’m guessing will be a pretty hot commodity should the fan base find it worthy of dropping into a plastic sleeve and socking away for safekeeping. Hey, anything that extends what’s looking like an already solid story is alright in my book.

IDW’s Wally Wood EC Stories Artist’s Edition: Stellar Stuff From A True Master.

The late Wally Wood’s work was one of many inspirations that got me interested in comic art and thankfully, there’s a large enough selection of his originals still around so anyone who wants to see some of the greatest panel art ever (and can afford to drop a few hundred bucks on a top quality hardcover book) can check it out thanks to IDW Publishing.

This collection in the fantastic Artist’s Edition series presents some of Wood’s classic EC Comics tales as ACTUAL SIZE (15 x 22) pages, complete with editing marks and assorted aging you don’t get in digital comic art. There’s just something incredible about seeing how hard Woody worked on all that meticulous detail and how much of  his work has held up over time.  This massive new book (which could double as a small card table if you opened it and put legs on the covers).

UPDATE! According to some poking about around the internet as well as a note from IDW’s PR guy the book is COMPLETELY sold out on the publisher’s web site. However, you CAN (and should) call up or stalk your nearest comic store, as they should have copies of the book in stock!
