Funko’s Hikari Friday Giveaway Offers A Triple Treat (Or Is It Threat?) For Sci-Fi Fans!

Three Hikari Sofubi Vinyl Figures are up for grabs this week, including two really great looking Premium Transformers figures. Funko is doing these up right and as you can see below, even one of Universal Studios’ classic monsters is getting the Japanese vinyl treatment. Check out the Apocalypse Creature Hikari Sofubi Figure (the lucky winner gets #1 of only 750 made, the rest of you need to fly into your local Funko retailer and hope they’re not sold out):

And for you Transformers fans, Funko has introduced its Hikari Premium line that features over 75 paint applications applied to each figure, making for a supremely detailed collectible. Both limited to 1000 pieces, they’ll be EXCLUSIVELY available in September on the Entertainment Earth website. Transformers: Age of Extinction Gets The Funko Pop! Treatment

While Transfomers: Age of Extinction may not be my big summer film at all this year (or ever!), leave it to Funko to get my interest piqued in more of their Pop! vinyl figure line with these three new pieces coming this month at a retailer near you that stocks this cool collectible stuff.

Check out Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Autobot Drift here and then make room somewhere for them in your collection. I wonder if anyone has just run out of room entirely in their place and had to knock a hole in a wall somewhere, pick up a new cabinet or shelf or pull off some other shenanigans to get MORE of these figures in their space.

Of course, you KNOW what happens when you buy or build a new place to store stuff, right? That new “solution” will look SO empty with just one, two or three of these vinyls on it… which means you just HAVE to fill it up, right? Yeah, I know how that goes, people…

Transformers: Age of Extinction Trailer: Bay of Picks of the Litter? We’ll See…

While I’ve seen the three previous films and way too many of the cartoons to count, I’m not a huge fan of the Transformers movies and their CG overkill, nor do I revere those old animated series as some sort of overall canonical tome that cannot be tampered with. That said, it looks as if this one’s going to be more “serious” than previous installments,, but then again you can’t tell by a two and a half minute plus trailer how the quality of the final flick will be. Mr. Bay seems to have spent that studio money up but good here and based on the usual polarized response this teaser has gotten, I’d say this will make a Megatron full of money (ah ha ha… Hey, pure corn is my specialty, folks!). Then again, if this is the last of the series (and to quote the late Godfather of Soul, James Brown: “Please, Please, Please!”*), it’s certainly going out with a bang. We’ll see on June 27th what’s what, I suppose. Check that: YOU’LL see before I will, as I’ve sat out the last two films until they popped up on cable.

*Yeah, I do KNOW that classic song is about JB wanting someone to NOT leave him, but for this franchise, that cape has come out too many times and it’s done every encore it can think of…
