Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock “Monsters” Trailer & Screens

Courtesy of the official PlayStation Blog, here’s a nice visual update from the upcoming PS3 and Vita exclusive. I got a chuckle imagining a bunch of Cybermen, Daleks, Silurians and Silence all showing up in a studio somewhere in England, punching in to do some hard work acting out scenes from the game for the dev team and having breaks for 10 o’clock breakfast (English Breakfast and scones) and a 4PM tea time (Earl Grey with milk, please, mum!) before clocking out and heading to a nearby pub for Guinness all around and some hot shepherd’s pie. Is that enough awful stereotyping here or what? Anyway, the game is set to land in March, but we’ll have a more informative update shortly as to what form the games will take. Fingers crossed for retail and download versions so more can hop aboard the TARDIS and enjoy the ride…

Capcom Reveals Surprising Exclusive Characters For PS3/Vita Street Fighter X Tekken

Capcom has a really great sense of humor, that’s for sure… but I’ll bet real money a lot of Mega Man fans’ heads are exploding big time. The blue bomber is indeed a playable character in the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken, but it’s the Bad Box Art version instead of the more familiar MM. Color me supremely tickled at this. Also amusing, seeing Sony’s Toro and Kuro (characters from a series of cute games never released in the US) and Pac-Man (!), who’s probably the biggest surprise of them all. Then again, now that I think about it, Klonoa should have been in the game as well as Tomba just to show some classic PlayStation love. Oh well, there’s always DLC or some sort of updated version down the road. Or heck, Tekken X Street Fighter, Namco’s companion piece to SF X T that’s still in development…

The Resistance Is NOT Over: Insomniac’s Ted Price Clears The Air…

I’d been hearing rumbling on this for a while, but all were from under-informed fan sources or those who didn’t read further than what they should have as to what the REAL deal was. Yes, Insomniac is stepping away from the Resistance franchise, but it’s not going away at all. Watch the video for the facts and keep an eyeball peeled during this year’s E3, as I’d bet we’ll be seeing something interesting coming sooner than we think from Insomniac (in terms of new IP) as well as new Resistance developer Nihilistic…

Mortal Kombat Vita Bound This Spring

“The NetherRealm team is committed to making sure that we follow up the success of 2011’s Mortal Kombat with an equally compelling experience on the PlayStation Vita,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “The original game content and new features we developed for the PlayStation Vita will provide gamers with the best fighting game experience available on the new mobile platform.”

NetherRealm’s brutal battle ballet is back, this time arriving on the Vita sometime this spring. As with the PlayStation 3 version, the game will feature fan favorite Kratos as a playable fighter plus a number of new yet to be announced enhancements and features that should help it rocket to some pretty impressive sales. While I wait for more news and some screenshots from the upcoming game, it looks as if this version will start making appearances at a Vita Hill Social Club event near you at some point in the near future. Stay tuned for updates as we get them

WipEout 2048 Intro Cinematic Double Shot!

No, you’re not quite seeing double here (even though you are). It’s one video with commentary and one without (if you somehow haven’t managed to read the headers above the videos). Also, one of the Vita’s must-haves in my book just because I’m an old-school WipEout player from the original PlayStation days. I also had the PC version, but I found it tougher to control using a keyboard. Oh well. Anyway, what I love about the commentary from Game Director Graeme Ankers and Art Director Lee Carus is that it acknowledges those players who’ve been around since the first game while giving a bit of back-story to those coming into the game for the first time. WipEout 2048 zips onto the Playstation Vita on February 22, 2012.

Touch My Katamari Trailer: It’s Good To Be The King!

Yes, he’s back, as are a few other familiar faces, all headed for a February 22, 2012 date with destiny on the PlayStation Vita. Can TMC roll up the sales and solid reviews big time, or will it be a touchy subject when the game rolls into the bargain bin? I predict minor to medium greatness, provided the target audience snaps it up properly and spreads the good word…

Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz Trailer Is Slightly Nostalgic (Sort Of…)

…Only because I’m ancient enough to immediately think of The Banana Splits (wait, they have an OFFICIAL web site? yikes!) and not the upcoming PS Vita exclusive. Still this is a pretty funny bit of CG, right? Of course, Sega wins in the end here, as just about any SMB game would be a lot better than a game based on a really kooky kids television show that’s older than most people who read this blog. Of course, Cartoon Network might prove me wrong one day (but I hope not!)…

Gallery: PlayStation 3 Library

Just like my Xbox 360 library, the amount of stuff I have here has gone up and down as I play through games and trade or sell them off. I’d say I’ve owned at least triple what’s here more or less since the console’s launch. As i noted earlier, a good deal of this generation’s titles across every platform are less appealing to me than some older games for other consoles I own. Maybe it’s too much focus on visuals over gameplay in some areas or too much DLC combined with lesser out of box experiences that seem lacking. I’m still figuring that out, as I do love seeing what different developers can do with the PS3 (or any other) hardware…

Gallery: PlayStation 2 Library (US)

Minus about 15 games that are out on loan, here you go. I have to call this gallery “updated”, as it was a lot larger a few years back. I had close to 450 or more games here at one time, but it was a bit hard to get anything for any other system stored, so I started whittling down quite a bit. There’s an import in one of these pics (oops), but that’s because it was borrowed before and returned after I took pics of my PS2 imports Yes, there were a few Final Fantasy games here, but those went to someone who’s probably a lot more appreciative of the direction the series has taken than I am. I think I sold off a few games I meant to keep otherwise for reference purposes (oops), but most of what I’m looking for is dirt cheap these days and pretty easily located.  As for some of the pricier games I no longer own or never got around to getting, well, I’m not dead yet…

Yeah, yeah, those press DVD’s aren’t “games”, but they were on the shelf, so in they went. I have a ridiculous amount of press kits stored here in a few bins (I saved nearly everything I’ve gotten since the late 90’s), so perhaps I’ll post a gallery of those if you ask nicely. It’ll take me a while to go through them all, that’s for sure…

Here’s the rest of the PS1 collection to go with the PS1 RPG/SRPG library I posted a few weeks back. What’s here is about 100-150 games less than it was about two years back, so anything you don’t see was most likely played to death and sold or traded. I absolutely never wanted a complete PS1 collection anyway, as I’d have a ton of games here that I’d never play. Still, I wish I’d kept more of the racers and all of the shmups I sold off, but oh well. That last photo is stuff I dug up after I took the others and put everything away. Oops. I was wondering where my import copy of D no Shokotaku ended up all this time. The items on the bottom row of the pic are a few of the small selection game soundtracks I have: Soukaigi, Silent Hill, Threads of Fate and Biohazard Remix. I don’t have anything resembling a decent game soundtrack collection at all – I just stuck those in because they’re PS-related…
