Random Art: Okay, I Missed A Day Or Week, Or Something. Have A Tree Anyway!

Nowhere Fast
Meh, I’ve been a bit busy working on some stuff and riding out these last miserable days of winter, but here you go. This didn’t take me too long to do at all and in fact, like most of my trees, isn’t really “complete.” I just stop when I think I’m about to destroy something with another few lines and that’s that. Well, that’s it for this week. I may get another sketch up sooner. Or later. Depending on work I need to get done versus time I have to sketch up something.

Random Art: Winter, You’re Still Here? Fine Then…

Still Winter II
Hmmmm. This winter has been more annoying than previous ones for a few reasons, but at least I’m getting some revenge of a sort on this stupid weather. You get not one, but TWO trees to ogle this week (whee), thanks to me being a bit under the weather (ha ho) yesterday and needing to burn off a few mental calories. Wait, there are mental calories? Well… there are NOW. Hmmm. I need to stop talking to myself in these posts, as it sounds as if I have a few people in the room half the time I’m posting stuff. Hey, sometimes you ARE your own best friend, right? RIGHT?

I thought so…

Some Creative Distraction Thanks To Random Tree Time…

quickie treeYeah, I’m still working on some actual posts, but they’re in assorted stages of completion. I’ve had a few ideas change shape as I go over notes, which is both good and bad. Anyway, here’s another tree to ogle. I did this while waiting for a small download to finish and with a game playing in the background. Multitasking is a sort of specialty, I guess. Then again, I know folks who do it better and faster. And better.

Eh, I’m working on it people, I’m working on it. That’s the problem with having a working brain and far too many ideas pumping out of it. I need some clones with more focus. At least I’m not watching the Oscars this year. I’m much to preoccupied to pay attention to much other than what I’m trying to get done with this site. Think world domination without the craziness of a dictator and on a much smaller scale.

Heck, If I can get my laundry done more regularly, that’s a huge start. Off to sort some underwear and socks – back in a bit…

Random Art (Again!): Hey, Maybe This Can Be A More Regular Thing?

Test
Or maybe not – we’ll see. I tend to draw only when I can find the time to do so, so you folks just got lucky this week. Yeah, that’s it. Anyway, off to a late start again this week. This cold weather returning is messing with my sleep schedule. Well, that and compiling notes for some articles, playing a few too many games at the same time and other stuff. Eh, back in a few hours. I need to find some coffee and get myself moving…

Random Art: The Return of Frankenstein’s Monster? Sort Of… Maybe?

FlowersI forget if I’ve posted this piece here before, but what the hell – I need to up my post count a bit, as it’s way down this month thanks to all the stuff going on around here. Anyway, this one’s a MS Paint experiment (yeah, done entirely with a mouse) from 2011 when I was really bored yet inspired to fiddle around with that stupid program just to see if I could get it to do stuff in as simple a way as possible but look somewhat hand-drawn. I have a Wolfman pic that’s been sitting around unfinished for a while, but I may start it over, as it wasn’t coming along well at all (the layout is OK, it’s just in need of some scaling of the figures and I haven’t had the time to get back to it since. Eh, perhaps I’ll just redraw the whole thing… we’ll see.

Random Art: “Legs…”

legs

Yup, another (sort of unfinished) MS Paint piece done while freezing my rear end off and waiting for this stupid wet and chilly weather to clear up. Well, if anything, lousy weather seems to be good for art practice. I may do another later, but only after I get to posting a few previews and reviews I’ve been dinking away on since last week. OK, back to actual harder work!

Random Art: Waiting…

Waiting2...As in I was waiting for it to stop raining so hard yesterday so I could hoof it down to the library, but it didn’t, which meant I ended up killing some time by starting a few reviews and doing this MS Paint piece. It took a while because I had no idea what I wanted to do when I began and between going back and forth to writing and taking a break or three, I finally stopped just so I’d be more productive on the writing and and less on the art end. Anyway, here you go.

Today’s weather is really awful here as well, but I’m working on finishing up the stuff I started last night to post later this evening or tomorrow. This gloomy rain and unusual chill for late May REALLY stinks… but I’m glad I’m not one of those automatic holiday folks who drives to the beach for Memorial Day every year like clockwork, damn every single weather report suggesting a stay close to (or hell, AT) home…

Random Art: Yeah, Just Like Me…

old not evil Whee, more MS Paint madness! “Old, Not Evil” is the title, by the way. And yep, I never know what to call a sketch at all until it’s “finished” and even then, it’s a tossup at best. Er, that’s all I have to say about that, I guess. More to come when I have time to draw. Yeah, it’ll probably be something tree-ish. They’re easy for me to do (well, sometimes)… Back in a bit.

Random Art: It’s Hard to Play Video Games, But Easy to Draw With a Cold (Go Figure)…

going home

OK, so it was the SUPREMELY challenging, yet even more rewarding new PSP game Carnage Heart EXA from Natsume I was trying to play while feeling under the weather yesterday and part of today that had my head spinning around a wee bit too much. It’s actually a game NOT for the short attention spanners out there or those looking for some sort of JRPG-lite with nonsense squeal-voiced characters. Anyway, I took a break after about a dozen tutorials (yes, the game is THAT complex), sat down and sort of hashed out a new MS Paint sketch, which isn’t so good, but made me feel a lot better and a bit less mushy upstairs. Well, my cold has gotten a lot less lively after chicken soup, aspirin, water and orange applications during the day, so it’s probably back to regular posting tomorrow. Whee! Hell, I may even hit 200 posts this month (which would make me pretty pleased)…

Random Art: For Freaks’ Sake, This One’s for The Birds…

broken wingAs much of a horror classic as Tod Browning’s 1932 film Freaks is, that bizarre ending has always rankled me a teeny-tiny bit. Spoiler: that bird lady thing at the end was actually more amusing than shocking to me, especially when stacked up to the real life cast and their assorted actual conditions. Anyway, completely on a lark (ha ha) I did this MS Paint sketch last year as an alternate makeup just for fun. Yeah, yeah, this film will (thankfully) NEVER be remade, but if someone want so try it (and thus be stalked by a few people armed with assorted home-made portable torture devices), here you go. Have fun for as long as it lasts, but sleep with one eye open. I actually overheard a conversation about a “remake” idea in a Starbucks a few months back, but it was a bunch of hipster types hoping someone would take advantage of the fact that reality show is now using “freaks” as a happy entertainment option for us “normals” out in tee vee land. Let’s hope this doesn’t take off, I say…

On a side note, I and many other fans keep hoping against hope that someone tracks down the 26 or so minutes of footage that was chopped out by MGM back in 1932 and restores the film to its original glory.
