Astro Boy Game Taps Kristen Bell For Voice Cast

Never have friends over when you’re trying to work. As I was typing the original version of the above headline, I hear a loud voice from behind me “ASTRO BOY TAPS KRISTEN BELL…?!!” then a big hearty horse laugh. Let’s just say someone got a big boot to the ass and ended up on the other side of my front door. Besides, eleven games arrived between this morning and afternoon, so I’ve a LOT of work to do. *Ahem* – now where was I? Oh yeah: Astro Boy game news…

Preview: Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment Character Profiles

Konami is rolling out more info on the cast of its upcoming PSN and XBLA Strategy/RPG along with a brief plot outline. From the three missions I tackled at Konami’s NYC Gamers’ Night press event, let’s just say that The game is going to be quite a challenging experience for fans of the genre and hardcore VH fans should definitely be pleased with what’s here. Expect some very tough battles, all-new combat skills and rich HD visuals that pop off the screen.

Enough from me – here’s who’s who in this Sostegarian saga right below the jump… Continue reading

Fairytale Fights Hands-On

Playlogic has something very naughty up its sleeve coming to consoles and PC this fall and it’s a bloody, outrageously funny absolute blast of a “gamers game” that’s going to kick your happy childhood story time memories right in the teeth. Fairytale Fights is set to hit the Playstation 3, PC and Xbox 360 this October 27, so throw a dart at your calendar and read on… this one’s going to be a real winner. I got to sit down for about a half-hour or so with a build of the PS3 version with the game’s producer, Poria Torkan and Adam McGowan. Playlogic’s Marketing Director, both of whom were giddy as freshly fed goats over their baby. And rightly so, as this is one of those rare games that’s hilariously fun and funny as hell simultaneously. Continue reading

Spectrobes: Origins Hits Stores

Disney Interactive Studios has shipped Spectrobes: Origins to retail while also announcing a September launch for exclusive Spectrobes-themed iPhone and iPod Touch apps that further the game experience via cool multimedia content.

From the screens and trailers I’ve seen, it sure looks like Genki (one of my favorite Japanese developers from way back, thanks to a bunch of mech and driving games) is still delivering the goods, so this one should be quite a bit of fun. While I go make a cup of tea (ginger/lemon, in case you’re curious), here’s the game’s official press release and a few screens for you to peruse below the jump…

Gallery: Dragon Age Origins

My, oh my… BioWare is making waiting for Dragon Age: Origins as painful as possible without causing actual physical harm, aren’t they? Just look at these new GamesCom 2009 screens and make believe you’re holding a controller. Hmmmm… between this and the Mass Effect 2 shots, I just may hike up to Canada and camp out for a bit outside the company’s HQ. What’s the weather like up there in November, eh?

By the way, dear reader, the slightly bloodier DA:O screens will appear shortly on my other blog where “M”-rated game screens and video will be posted until further notice. While I;m no prude at all, we don’t want the ESRB harassing my PR pals now, do we?

Mass Effect 2 Cover Art, New Screens, Story Info Revealed

Hmph. Maybe I shoulda gone to Cologne after all. Anyway, here’s the cover art to Mass Effect 2 (fantastic), along with five new screenshots (even more fantastic) and plot points (presented in press release format because I love that yellow type I’m now using for PR stuff). The first thing that sprung to mind when seeing the newly revealed cover art was of any number of dynamic movie posters and comic covers I’ve seen over the years. It’s definitely striking, and gets the sense of wonder flowing, that’s for damn sure. “Attention alien scum – Commander Shepard and company are coming to kick your asses back to where you came from!”

…or something like that. Anyway, here’s the press release below the jump: Continue reading

Gallery: Fossil Fighters

Dug up some screens and art on Fossil Fighters, Nintendo’s newest (and just released) “collection RPG” (as well as potential future franchise candidate) that mixes in a bit of archaeology, geology and good old fashioned claw to the face battle action for the kids (and us dino-loving adults who don’t mind folks staring at us while we play games on the subway, of course). The game, developed by RED and known as Bokura wa Kasekihorida in Japan, puts players in the shoes of a young fossil hunter as he sets out to become champion of Vivosaur Island’s famous Fossil Stadium.

Yep, it’s got the Pokemon thing working for it the kids will love, but given that you’re using the touch screen and microphone for digging and blowing virtual dust away (“cleaning”) respectively, this one looks like a bit more of a workout. Anyway, here you go – game screens and cute character art…

Like The New DAF Logo?

Yeah, yeah, I know it’s a quickie MS Paint job an eight-year old could do in his or her sleep, but it’s much more distinctive than the generic type I started DAF with. Actually, I worked up a bunch of other logo ideas, so here’s a few more you may see up top in the near future (or not):

Feel free to comment on the new logo and the other designs. Who knows, I just may have a non-lucrative future in coming up with unused logo ideas!
