Nintendo of America, as always, REALLY knows how to throw a party. Turn a tiny bit of Times Square into a virtual Mario Land set, invite a ton of kids and see what happens? Good times for all, no problem! All this super fun stuff was for a pre-launch Super Mario 3D Land party where gamers got to play the upcoming 3DS exclusive before its 11/13/11 street date. The weather was definitely perfect for the event and it looks as if everyone had a total blast. It looks as if there’s yet another great reason to be a 3DS owner this year and with the holiday season rolling up fast, you’ll want to absolutely add this latest Mario game to your gift list.

Kill Screen & Capcom Present Fright Club
Got plans for October 11? If you happen to be in the NYC area (a few days early for New York Comic Con, perhaps?), Kill Screen Magazine and Capcom are whipping up a nice event for fans of the Dead Rising and Resident Evil franchises. Here’s the when and where:
Santos Party House
96 Lafayette St.
New York, NY 11013
Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM (ET)
It’s a super-busy week for me, but I just might show up to see and play for a bit as all three titles are on my radar…
Gallery: PopRally Arcade @ MoMA
And here you go: images from the MoMA Event put on by KillScreen Magazine. I'd say the game of the evening was B.U.T.T.O.N., as it had the most people lined of to get in on the mayhem. Seeing a wide range of adults crashing into each other or otherwise rolling around on the floor was absolutely hilarious. I'd say that if the team at CGP had boxed plug 'n play copies of the game for sale with those custom big button controllers for around fifty bucks or so, they'd have sold out before the evening was over. Seriously. I was at the Limbo station starting at 10 and although it was only the demo version, it freaked a few people out while others who figured out how to get the boy to live through the assorted traps wanted to see more (I think I helped sell a few Xbox 360's in promoting the game, so Microsoft owes me a few bucks, I'd say). Many thanks to Gabo and Eddie for the opportunity to help out!

See You At PopRally!

It’s going to be a SUPER BUSY day today, between a few press meetings (Bethesda and D3Publisher, sorry EA – I had to drop someone today and you lost the coin toss!), then it’s off to MoMA to help the KillScreen guys out with tonight’s Arcade event at PopRally. I’ll be manning the LIMBO station starting at 10PM until 11:30, so if you’re in the area, drop by and say hi! If I can, I’ll take some photos and post them tomorrow or around the weekend. I still have Call of Juarez: The Cartel and Captain America reviews to complete (among other things…)
NYT’s Gamers Nite Groove Presents Sonic the Hegehog 4 (Part 1) Next Tuesday!
New York-Tokyo is at it again with another cool GNG event – drop by and play Sonic 4 and enjoy a few drinks and great tunes. Click below for de-Tails…
Come Join Capcom’s Sengoku Basara Event At NYC’s Asia Society!
The fine folks at newyork-tokyo.com have been cooking up some excellent game, music and J-culture related events and promotions for years in the NYC area and beyond and each one is really something special. Attendees show up and get a nice mix of current gaming trends (and a rare Hideo Kojima sighting once in a while), Japanese pop culture/fashion, the occasional freebie as well as a nice break from the usual boring evenings of sitting at home and complaining that there's nothing on TV.
Here's what's happening at their next event:
Nintendo Drops Wii to $199, Introduces "World of Nintendo" Gaming Events
Of course this has NOTHING to do with all the other console price drops and oddball rebates, folks (*wink, wink*). It’s merely a recession fighting move by Nintendo to keep those Wiis rolling into homes across America (*wink, wink*).
Or something like that – press release below.
Hell, a price drop is a price drop and at $200, the Wii is a more attractive deal now to budget-minded gamers, especially now that more quality games are here or on the way. Personally, I do like those “World of Nintendo” events, which will be PACKED to the gills once word gets out.
Anyway, here you go…
