So, how does Capcom’s ridiculously awesome (and near seizure-inducing) fighting game extravaganza look on the PlayStation Vita? Outstanding, I say (go take a look for yourself if you haven’t already). You can almost feel that wallet in your pocket or purse get lighter with each hit and in fact, if you’re watching this gameplay footage outside, don’t be surprised if you feel dizzy, pass out and wake up in an alley somewhere with yes, your wallet (and phone) gone missing. Or maybe you DID take a wrong turn while walking from the subway and and watching this trailer only to get conked on the head and robbed blind by a pack of unruly street urchins. Which means you really NEED a Vita and a copy of UMvC3 so you can learn some decent fighting moves for the next time you get distracted like that…

The Last Story English Dub Trailer: Hope, Indeed For UK Gamers, But…
…Of course, there’s ZERO official word from Nintendo about a US release for what SHOULD be one of the best and final RPGs released for the Wii. Granted, Nintendo wants to rush the Wii U out at the end of this year, so they’d probably want to pretend this game doesn’t exist or even better, that the fans that have set up online petitions will quietly go away after achieving a bit of victory with Xenoblade making the trip stateside. It’s pretty obvious to me that money is the main issue at the end of the day, especially given Nintendo’s huge losses over the last year. They simply don’t want to spend too much on localizing and producing a game they see as a niche title that even at most, wouldn’t sell more than a few thousand copies to the most die-hard Wii RPG fan.
Of course, this just means that more folks will end up modding their Wiis and going the import route (thus making Nintendo’s UK branch some extra scratch in the process). But perhaps we’ll see a miracle of sorts and Nintendo will wise up and release TLS as a Wii U launch window game just to make RPG fans happier that they would be with a flashier-looking less RPG-like experience. We. Shall. See…

Review: Double Fine Happy Action Theater
Developer: Double Fine Studios
Publisher: Microsoft
# of Players: 1 – 6
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Score: A-
Sure, you can simply stick your tongue out, turn your nose up, cross those arms and pout about even going NEAR a game as geared for kids as Double Fine Happy Action Theater and at first glance, you’d almost be justified. Then again, you’d look exactly like a stubborn child who won’t eat their vegetables instead of an adult who needs to kick back and have a blast once in a while. Yes, the game is super family friendly, non-violent (unless you consider kicking down fake buildings “violent”) and “shorter” than it should be. On the other hand, it’s not a traditional “game” at all, but a series of 18 activities that will have you doing all sorts of wacky physical movements in front of your TV.
Wait. They’re REALLY Going To Remake RoboCop? Why?
I’m a little late on commenting about this deal, but I don’t waste a lot of time trolling the Internet for this sort of thing and when I come across it, I usually hope it’s a really bad joke. Unfortunately, it’s not. Paul Verhoeven’s near-perfect blend of sci-fi, action and satire is soon to join the ranks of many other classics that got the remake treatment. Now, I could be completely wrong here, but I’m old and have a very long memory, so I doubt it. Given the pile of changes made since the idea of the remake gained traction over the past two years and the recent rumor about Russell Crowe being attached as the lead, the project seems to me it’s going to be a very expensive failure even if it goes in a completely new direction (and makes a pile of money in the process). On the other hand, after watching the original yesterday just to see what what was wrong that a remake HAD to be green-lit, here’s what I found… Continue reading
Yes, I Still Review Stuff, Silly…
Status
This should be interesting. I talked a Kinect-owning pal into buying Double Fine Happy Action Theater and I’ll be moseying on over to his place later to see what’s what. The XPlay demo last night made me do it, so blame them. Although, my heads up from him and his kids says the game is nothing but stupidly entertaining. In a really good way. If I don’t throw my back out kicking a pigeon or making fireworks with my fingers, I’ll be back with a review later tonight. Wish me luck…
Rayman 3 HD Coming To PSN, XBLA In March
Above: a really nice trailer for the upcoming release of Rayman 3 HD, set for a March 21, 2012 launch over PSN and Xbox Live. Below: a short (and suggestive) note to Ubisoft from me: if you’re trying to get that follow-up to Beyond Good & Evil off the ground, why not pack HD remakes of all the numbered Rayman games onto a disc with some cool bonus features and get them out there along with separate digital releases so you’re serving both physical and ethereal gamers out there? Of course, you guys know better than I do about business matters and your own back catalog, so just ignore me. At your peril. I’ll be in the corner with my slingshot and some popcorn…
Skyrim Creation Kit Out Now For PC – Console Owners Take An Arrow To The Knee
No, I couldn’t resist the obvious joke that’s become the one thing even people who haven’t played Skyrim have seen, read or heard. Anyway, yes, if you’re a lucky PC player of Skyrim and have a ton of time on your hands, you too can create content of your own to share with other like-minded fans. Expect to see plenty of Star Wars, Legend of Zelda, assorted comic book and movie mods and more coming soon. I’m sure there’s going to be a complete conversion of the game into some older Elder Scrolls titles as well from some of the more hardcore users out there, so we’ll have to poke around at some point and peek at mods even though we’ve only played the console versions because we’ve got a crappy computer. Hey, why am I writing as a collective “we” all of a sudden. It’s late and I’m seeing double, probably…
Sorry, Chuck Norris – Liam Neeson’s Face Can Kick Your Ass Any Day…
Now, I haven’t even seen The Grey yet, but it’s getting decent reviews and this is Neeson’s what, third or fourth action movie role where he’s basically not taking any crap from anything on two (and now four) legs. Meanwhile, Old Fart, Texas Walker hasn’t made a decent film in ages, is shilling a janky exercise machine on late-nite infomercials, stumping for desperate political candidates who need an old-ass “star” power endorsement and oh yeah, he might be playing World of Warcraft. *snore…*
Yeah, yeah… so what if he’s a BIG internet meme with a huge following from back when he was younger, stronger and starring in some bad-ass action flicks where he always came out ahead. Whatever. I always see him as the hairy guy who got a beat-down he didn’t get up from in Way of the Dragon, so perhaps I’m a little biased. Anyway, I’m sure Chuck-O can lay out Liam in an actual fistfight (at some point), but I’d bet he’d break a hip throwing that knockout punch. And hell, you’re not taking down any Irishman without a good fight, last time I heard…
Retro Swag: Haunting Leather Jacket (Polterguy’s The Prize…)

I guess you could technically call this airbrushed (and hopefully one of a kind) Haunting Starring Polterguy leather jacket a Sega collectible (sort of). Or perhaps it’s an Electronic Arts collectible, as they’re the ones who sent it my way along with a copy of the game. Anyway, I won this for entering art in a Diehard Game Fan contest back in 1993. The goal was to finish a Haunting-themed comic strip based on elements in the game with a final panel that showed some sort of scary monster. I actually entered on a whim, not even thinking I’d win (or make the deadline) with a creature that had mouths where its eyes were and eyes in his mouth (eek). Unfortunately, I didn’t make a color copy of the panel I painted nor did I get the issue the panel was in thanks to the issue it appeared in not showing up (and I was a loyal subscriber, too!). But I think I may have a crappy faded black and white copy buried in a bunch of old art around here. If I manage to dig it up, I’ll post it here.
Phantom Breaker Update: Infinity vs. Fin Trailer
5bp’s upcoming 2D fighter is looking as nice as ever in this latest trailer. Remember, pre-orders for the Special Edition (a STEAL at $39.99!) are still being taken over at Amazon, so don’t forget to support these guys and gals over at publisher 7Sixty Games if you’re liking what you’ve been seeing so far. I’d say doing so in a big way will show not EVERY game like this needs to be a digital-only release.
