Diggs Nightcrawler: A Family-Friendly Noir Detective Story? Innnnnteresting…

OK, I’m still a bit ticked off that Sony hasn’t gotten that Fifty Shades of Grey Wonderbook out just to reap in the millions they’d get while the iron on that saucy and unrealistic fantasy novel and its sequels is still hot (OK, it’s actually a running gag here I can’t pass up), but for those who want something a LOT less salcious, there’s Diggs Nightcrawler, a really cool looking film noir inspired tale for all ages. Well, all ages who happen to have parents who like noir and want to pass that onto the wee ones without having to make them sit through all those movies they love in a weekend marathon.

Hmmm… just imagine the mood your kid would be in on a Monday after three full days of black and white detective stories with sassy molls, hoods shooting heroes in the shoulder, a few bodies falling out of closets or into a bay somewhere and all sorts of red herrings popping up to confuse and amuse. Yeah, playing this game is probably a tiny bit better – you want to ease the kids into those classics, not toss them in head first and see if they swim back to the surface. The water’s dark down there, you know…

Another Wonderbook? OK, Let’s See, Er… Read What’s Coming…

Well, it certainly looks as if Sony made some money with that J.K. Rowling Wonderbook after all, as now there’s another coming (at least in the UK). Wonderbook: Diggs Nightcrawler is on the way in May there, but I still think Sony needs to whip up one or more of these things for more mature readers. Sure, it’ll be a novelty game/book at best, but they’d make a mint from those 50 Shades fanatics (and hell, a book is always better than a movie, right? OK, usually), and I can even see some sort of sci-fi or fantasy books geared towards cranky older gamers (like me) doing well if the integration between reading and play is done right…

Hey Sony! You’re Missing a HUGE Opportunity With Wonderbook…

Here’s the second developer diary from SCEE about Wonderbook, but let’s forget about that for a minute. Four little words, Sony, just four little words:

Fifty Shades of Grey.

Grab the rights to this NOW. I’m just saying… that stupid book and its two sequels have sold in the millions and you have an untapped (pun not intended) source of potential female PS3 owners (that thinner cuter model you just introduced, y’know) who’d LOVE to have an interactive version of the book they can surprise their significant (or insignificant) others (or other selves) with. Sure, the kid books will do OK, but get a dev team to whip out (no pun intended) a version of the first book with some nice PS Move bells and whistles, get it in a limited edition package with a coupon from Trojan Vibrations and BOOM – watch the money rollllllllllllll in.

I’m just saying – tap that market fast before the movie hits and the fad wears out. No charge for this idea – you can thank me later.
