

Well, this isn’t good at all. Today, a bunch of flyers started popping up all over Greenvale about Deputy Sheriff Emily Wyatt and how she’s gone missing. Hmmm. I’m hoping she’s OK, but I haven’t seen FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan (just call him York!) at all since he sped by in a car the other day. Anyway, I did see a bunch of tourists looking around in the woods for her, but that’s kind of a bad idea if they don’t know what they’re doing. If something DID happen to her and she’s out there, it would be awful if someone accidentally did something that would ruin any evidence or hinder a potential investigation. OK, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here. Maybe she’s just hurt in the woods or lost in that creepy old mine area…
Anyway, Emily is 26, about five feet six inches or so, has blonde hair and green eyes. Not that it matters, I hear she’s also not much of a cook and loves a good steak, but we’ve already checked the A&G Diner and Swery 65 Bar to see if she’s come in lately and nope, she’s not been to either spot. Sheriff George Woodman is also still missing, but he’s been known to disappear from time to time and show up at work as if nothing has happened…
You can come help look for Emily (and hope for the best) while trying to solve the Red Seeds Killer case when you play Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut, exclusively for the PlayStation 3 from Rising Star Games. Updated HD visuals, PlayStation Move and 3D TV support, over 100 improvements from the original game and more mean this is one of those games that will keep you busy for some time to come. Granted, a taste for the bizarre in your horror/humor hybrids games comes in handy, as this one will come at you in a few ways as you play through the adventure. Here’s a tiny fraction of what to expect:
I haven’t seen Game Director Swery 65 at all today, but then again, I haven’t exactly been looking for him, either. I think he may be out helping search for Emily, but as he’s pulling the strings in Greenvale (and has been from the beginning), he could just be taking the day off and having a decent nap for a change. At least the tourists are out in the woods and NOT keeping him up all hours of the night asking for autographs and game tips. That man should get a medal for what some fans have asked of him, but he takes it all in stride!

Innnnterestingly enough, I just so happened to pop by the Swery 65 Bar for a quick beer and who do I run into, STILL in celebratory mode, but owner and Game Director Swery 65. He’s still drinking away merrily and having a blast, but I hope he’s got Drunk Mode OFF, as that tall tube of 
Did you know that Game Director Swery 65 is STILL celebrating the game’s release? I asked him about this after his sixth one and was told that he’s simply taking care of all his partying at one time because of the different release dates in a few territories. He said he plans to stop and rest for a bit once the North American version comes out, but I just realized he really doesn’t need to. Why? Well, dear reader… In Greenvale, the beer can’t get you drunk at all (it’s digitally created!), so you can drink as much as you want and never feel a thing. Of course, if you play around on the options screen, you can reverse that effect and pretty much pickle your liver in about three sips… but who the hell wants to do that? Enjoy responsibly, people!

Of course, if you’re a really highbrow kinda guy like Game Director Swery 65, you know all about art and appreciating it for what it is. Hey, you don’t get to smoke huge cigars and sip fine cognac because you happen to have them lying around in the house like a can of beans, y’know. Sit down with the man for a smoke and snifter and he’ll probably regale you with tales of the good olde days of making art and how he’s turned into one of the more recognizable names in his field in such a relatively brief time. That, or he’ll just ask if you’ve played his new game and what your favorite part was. I’d say you better have a darn good answer, as those big cigars and cognac aren’t cheap. I’m betting that’s a good 

One person who’s very probably having an ABSOLUTELY fine Monday is Game Director Swery 65. I’d bet he’s pretty much sitting around in a bar or coffee shop somewhere checking his email, having a(nother) tasty burger and beverage combo while updating his Facebook page with a quick post or Instagram photo (or both) and just hanging out enjoying himself while he waits patiently for the first reviews to roll in. I’d say he’s got nothing to fear in terms of too many gamers and editor-types NOT liking the game, as it’s already gone through that wringer once and is now seen as a genre classic by many who fell under its strange spell…
Hmmm… I was wondering earlier today if Game Director Swery 65 actually drives a car in Japan or is he a public transportation sort of guy? Not that it matters, mind you – it’s just that the driving mechanics in the first version of the game were notoriously wonky to some critics and gamers. Granted, once you got used to them, they weren’t that bad. I actually kind of think this was part of the plan, as the game plays with its players on a few core levels from its visual style to smashing expectations of what a lead character in a game can be. York’s certainly a memorable main character loads of new players won’t soon forget. Of course, this just means more well-dressed cosplayers at the next big convention all York-ing it up and making Swery smile even more so than usual…
I’d say those cheesy nachos are the sole thing wrong with the bar, as owner (and Game Director) Swery 65 runs a tight ship. The last time around, he didn’t expect so much traffic, so ther were a few bugs and other issues that had the user ratings all over the map as some people didn’t appreciate the quirky atmosphere and dated decor. Taking all that into account, he’s cleaned up the joint quite a bit and while it looks a lot better with all that extra polish, he made sure to keep just enough of the old flavor that fans of that nostalgia will be coming back and really liking that they see and taste.

Given that the game as gone gold today (meaning it’s been sent off to be pressed and packed so it can appear in stores on time), I bet Game Director Swery 65 is celebrating today a bit more than usual. Of course, he and his team at Access Games deserve whatever celebrating they’re doing and then some, as they’ve created a better version of a game that made so many people swing back and forth trying to decide if they were crazy for liking such a bizarre experience. Open minds are the best ones to work with, I say… well, provided it’s not some glowing eyed guy in a yucky red coat swinging an axe doing that opening. That would be a bad thing for this game’s sales as well as the poor folks getting their tops popped…
