Nowhere as many as I’d like to have and some aren’t pictured here, as I need to move about 500 or so games to get to the remaining few. I’ll update the gallery once I get that mighty task done. Some of these are incredible for what’s on the discs, from memory card download, interviews and exclusive content not seen outside Japan. Stuff like Net Yaroze demos (games made by those who bought the special Net Yaroze PlayStation model), some hilarious commercials and some great demos of games that were drastically different than what ended up on store shelves. The Project Zero disc is a DVD that features CG from the game and some other cool stuff, but isn’t playable. I know there are a ton of these non-playable demos out there, but I’m a lot more interested in trial version discs these days. The one other exception is the Summer Special 1996 disc that has a bunch of game trailers including the first look at Metal Gear Solid. That long movie was created entirely with in-game asset and actually makes the game look like a more action-packed experience than it turned out to be.

Minor Update: Minor Victory Edition (Sort Of)…
Status
Whee. Spent a while yesterday and this morning cleaning up the Categories here, so games now don’t have oddball links below the articles that go nowhere. I’m STILL working on transferring and re-editing a lot of old articles so they’re COMPLETE and not chopped off, so keep checking back on some of those older reviews and such. Man, this is a lot of work…
Gallery: PlayStation RPG/SRPG Library+
I shot these earlier this year while moving some things around. Not my entire PS1 collection by a long shot, but that’s going to be photographed and posted in a bit. I sold off a huge chunk of it over this year and last (about 110 – 120 games) but I hung onto stuff I like or haven’t quite completed yet. I still think that some of these games need proper remakes or sequels in the future, but I doubt they’ll get done any time soon if at all. BTW, my copy of FF8 somehow disappeared a while back, but I think I may have accidentally sent someone it as a bonus by mistake. Oh well. Not like it’s rare or anything. I’ll probably post my US and Japanese demo disc libraries before the rest of the US games I have, as the demos are easier to get to. Anyway, enjoy – more to come!
Humor (Of Sorts): TOS-ing Cookies, Mandatory Update Version
I’ve noticed loads of complaints regarding privacy and other pesky issues with mobile data carriers, movie and game content services and anything that requires a lengthy Terms Of Service (TOS) agreement to be read before a consumer gives his or her OK. Given that almost no one actually seems to read through these things before or after they’ve clicked that “OK” button only to go ballistic later on when they find out they’ve lost another basic civil right, I propose a fail-safe solution that will take care of the problem. And as I’m all about job creation these days, this solution will also get a few people employed in the process.
Here’s the dead: get a bunch of Hollywood actor-types to shoot a video/record audio where they read through a TOS contract and stick it on the next update as a mandatory viewing or listening experience. It’ll be just like a TV ad for medications, but read so that you can actually hear every word. Yeah, the entire user base of every device on the market will rant their asses off online (I can see the fires lighting as I type this out). But hell, at least they can’t say that they didn’t know what they were in for in terms of the next invasion of a tiny bit more of their privacy, right?
OPINION: Why MMO’s Need Offline Modes (Hint: It’s A Jobs Creation Program)
With the recent announcement of Lego Universe going under as of January 2012 and the resulting (and unfortunate) staff layoffs, there’s a lot of blame floating around about just what went “wrong”. Obviously, the lack of enough subscribers (despite a recent move to a “free to play” based business model) is a core reason the MMO met its demise. However, I think a few other factors didn’t help the game one bit and in fact, the project was doomed to failure from the start. Why do I say this with such certainty? Simple. The lack of ANY way to play offline in any form makes EVERY single MMO (no matter how popular), a dead game once the amount of online players drops significantly, making a game too expensive to keep going and a waste of resources that could otherwise keep a dev team at least partially employed… Continue reading
OK, OK, My “Best of 2011” List Is On The Way…
Ha! Someone asked If I was going to do a Game of the Year article or at least make a few picks. Ha! Well, I normally hate that sort of stuff because it turns into a “popular vs. good” contest on other sites, but, Ha! I guess I’ll do up a list of stuff i was impressed with and run it in a few days. Just don’t expect it to be in lock-step with other sites (although it WILL have a few of the biggest games this year on it). Ha!
Gallery: PSP Library
Well, it’s not much of a library NOW, but it was about twice a big until about two or three years back when I started selling off a chunk of it. Still, with the Vita on the way, I’m probably going to be looking for inexpensive complete games to add to the stack at some point down the road. I actually REALLY want more demos from all over, but I’m too darn lazy and busy to track any more down than what I have. Oh well… one day when I have the time (and definitely, the money) to burn. And, oops… that last pic is what happens when you put stuff away THEN find a few things you left out because they were on another shelf…
Holiday Wishes (Mine, That Is. Or: Selfish, Aren’t I?)…
Hey Santa, you bum! Where the hell are those shelves I asked so nicely for about what, five years ago? You keep eating all the cookies and drinking the booze-spiked eggnog I leave out and I always get socks and underwear that don’t fit. Anyway, the jig is up, fat man. Make good with the wood or I’m putting a little surprise in YOUR stocking! That is all… Now, go get those elves sawing away. Good U.S. of A. wood, too, not some splinter-packed plywood or that laminated particle board crap that wouldn’t make a decent diner table, either.
Still Re-Editing! Only A Thousand Posts To Go (Ha, Ha)…
Status
Or something like that. Yes, I’m still updating content from the old blog to the new one, but I’m ONLY down to about 1000 posts to go over (er, whee?). I’ll probably buckle down with them over the Xmas holidays and see how many I can get done. I’ve forced things a bit in some new reviews by referencing older posts, which had me then fix those posts to where they’re entirely readable instead of just the first paragraph. In the end, the text isn’t the real problem – it’s the galleries that take the most work to bring over. I also found a bunch of lost stuff and some drafts I’ve been meaning to complete, but those will get some love after the holidays.
Coming Up For Air (Finally)…

OK, OK – time to get cracking on a few things. Reviews incoming over the weekend! And while Skyrim is one of them, Hell NO, I’m nowhere near completing the game. There’s SO much to do in there that it’s a new benchmark for what can (and SHOULD) be done in terms of giving gamers TRUE value for their hard-earned money. Why play another short single player FPS campaign when you can sink yourself into a far deeper game where you’re hooked in for hours in a stretch and barely make a dent in the main quest? Back in a bit…
