Namco Bandai’s latest high-flying entry in its seminal flight combat franchise gets a really cool pre-order bonus with a pretty recognizable plane. If you’re a new or longtime fan of the series, don’t forget the game’s Facebook page can always use a few more of you top gunners. Strap on that emergency chute and get ready to rack up some killer frequent flier miles on your PS3 or Xbox 360 soon enough.
Inversion Co-Op Trailer Makes Me Go "Hmmmm…."
Saber Interactive’s upcoming innovative gravity-defying shooter has co-op play I was curious about, but thankfully, Namco Bandai has dropped this Gamescom 2011 trailer on my head so I can share it with you guys and gals. I think they’ve got a nice sleeper hit here that will surprise a few shooter fans expecting the same old same old. More to come from Gamescom shortly…
BloodRayne: Betrayal – New Screens
Five more images from WayForward Technologies’ upcoming side-scroller. It’s too bad it’s not 1994 or this one would be splashed all over every game magazine as a must-buy title. As it is, it’s getting a big PSN and XBLA release, but I’d really love to see games like this compiled and put on a disc so anyone who wants to play them can do so any time they need a fix. Back with more screens when they pop into my mailbox.
QuakeCon 2011: John Carmack Keynote
All the secrets of the world are absolutely NOT revealed here, but as usual, JC has some really interesting things to say about games, particularly some of the cool things id is working on. That, and he’s looking more and more like Food Network culinary brainiac Alton Brown with a bit more hair – enjoy!
TES V: Skyrim Collector’s Edition Announced At QuakeCon
Yeah, yeah – if you know me, you also know I have a love/hate thing about these big Limited Editions. However, as I'm supremely excited for Skyrim, that automatically translates to a few smooches directed toward this nifty CE, now available for pre-order at selected retailers. Details and pricing below the jump. Sure, It's not cheap and I'll probably just end up with a copy of the standard edition (if you saw my games library, you'd understand why), but if I get hit on the head with a bag o' cash, I'll be buying one of these right away and making space for it.Read more »
Speaking of Costume Reveals: Anne Hathaway As Catwoman
Hot of the heels of the new Superman costume reveal, here’s the new Catwoman for your approval. This one’s a photo from the official movie site, not one of the MANY unauthorized (but not exactly stopped from being posted everywhere) on-set pics and videos that sprung up last week revealing the new camo-patterned Batmobile and a battle between Batman and Bane (among other interesting tidbits). Still, it’s one less mystery about Nolan’s final entry in his Batman trilogy that should generate even more interest while we all wait for Summer 2012 to roll around.
‘Man of Steel’ Costume Reveal: Cavill Does The Suit Some Justice
Hmmmm… Kind of hard to make the whole costume out thanks to the lighting (and tiny picture – thanks WB!), but I say Mr.Cavill looks great in the suit. It's definitely a few steps up from the working class hipster costume from one of the three DC Comics Superman reboots, that's for sure. Not so subtle: the setting – I think it's WB noting that this new Superman movie will break the bank (I'll bet real money that's the intent behind the image)

White Knight Chronicles II: New, Improved & You Get The First Game Free
With so many big-name RPG's rolling out this fall from a few big name publishers, it's easy to overlook some genre gems coming from unexpected places. D3Publisher of America is also branching into console RPG territory with the upcoming release of White Knight Chronicles II, exclusively for the PS3. The Level 5-developed JRPG features a huge amount of improvements over the original, which has itself been enhanced and added to the package as a ridiculously awesome bonus.Read more »
Gallery/Impressions: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
What else can be said about what's truly going to be one of the biggest games (in terms of scope and hype) to hit consoles and PC's to date? TES V: Skyrim will no doubt be generously rewarded with huge sales and critical accolades from press and gamers alike, so I'm just pouring more gasoline on the bonfire of praise with these words. Seeing that E3 presentation on TV and the internet is one thing. Seeing it in person id like discovering sunlight for the first time. Bethsoft's proprietary Creation Engine brings the game world to stunning life without any need for 3D glasses or tacked on motion control schemes. The team behind the game has crafted one of the best-looking games to date and you'll see this in many, many fine details such as items that can be rotated in your inventory (helpful when solving some puzzles) and the way the weather changes as you ascend a mountain from the sunny plains below to the freezing summit. Everyone at the presentation was silent, most likely from being in sheer awe at what was on screen…
RAGE: Hands-On In The Wasteland
Thanks to the fine folks at Bethesda Softworks and id Software, last Wednesday, I got to spend a good two and a half or so hours with a complete Xbox 360 version of id's latest shooter (and one of 2011's most anticipated games) AND got to see a stunning live presentation of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim afterwards. No, I'm not going to compare them in this preview, silly rabbits. However, I will point out that both are completely different experiences that no gamer worth his or her salt should miss out on. Unlike many other events I've attended, RAGE was set up to play from the beginning from a new profile. While there were a few PR reps and a Bethsoft (or was it id?) employees floating by on occasion to see if things were going OK, I got to play a small chunk of the single player game the very same way you'll dive into it come this October 4. Note: Spoilers below the jump, but given that my progress was limited to what I could do in a few hours, I'm sure none of them are MAJOR reveals.Read more »
