Random Film of the Week(end) Quickie: The Doberman Gang

The Doberman Gang MPIf you’ve never seen The Doberman Gang, drop something and track this silly film down at some point. Sure, it’s a (mostly) family-geared gimmick flick about a bunch of smart dobermans trained by a somewhat smart guy to rob a bank and sure, if you’re a dog person, you’ll like this a lot more than if you’re not. But there’s a certain quirky energy to this one (partially thanks to Alan Silvestri’s bouncy score) that makes it purely enjoyable to a point that you may find yourself cheering these pooches on as they purloin cash-packed pouches and attempt to make good their escape… Continue reading

Zen Studios has been making some outstanding digital pinball games for years and each new table they’ve added to Zen Pinball 2 has just about outdone the previous ones. Their latest, a wonderful riff on the first set of five chapters from Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead is probably their strongest tables to date. With the exception of a sniping section and offline scores not being able to be added to leaderboards, this one’s as good as it gets and then some for pinball fans. Granted, if you’re new to pinball or someone who’s always avoided it for some reason, you may not be convinced by what’s here and that’s your loss. The game’s fast pace and addictive “one more try” play will hook you in and with practice, you’ll become a master of the skill shot and start racking up that score into the stratosphere…

Table Top Racing Gets A Nice, Necessary Update For Us Fat-Fingered Speed Freaks…

TableTopRacing IconExcellent. While I loved the Vita version of Table Top Racing, my big complaint (and it seems the main issue a bunch of other users had) was the rear touchscreen being automatically used for a rear view angle with no means to turn it off. This made holding the Vita comfortably something of a challenge, as the merest brush of a finger on that rear screen meant you’d be looking back for a split second. Or worse if you had no idea about that screen being used, you’d start a race and be looking at the FRONT of your car until you moved your fingers into a more claw-like grip. Ouch.

Well, THAT’S no longer an issue as Playrise Digital has whipped out a patch that sets the rear view to off (you can toggle it on if you like), shows the control layout (the original download didn’t, and while the game is easy to play, some people didn’t figure out the left trigger is used for certain functions) and tweaks a few other things. The update has been out for a little while, but I just hopped back into the game last night and saw the fix was in. Anyway, go grab TTR, as it’s only $7.99, a ton of fun and if you’ve been avoiding it because you have larger hands, it’s now even more of a no-brainer buy…
