Remember… it’s a game for kids, so there’s that. Motion controls aside, it’s also a tiny bit close to what the Bandai Playdia DBZ games were in a few aspects, so there’s that as well. That means again, it’s a game for KIDS, first and foremost. All the Super Saiyan furor boiling up and way over about this one is a bit much, I think. Hell, if you’re screaming about a motion-controlled DragonBall game and you’re old enough to vote or drink, you should probably be consuming less caffeine and sugar or something. Maybe go read some Shakespeare, get out for a nice walk? I hear there’s some nice jazz in the park somewhere near you… Cultchah, folks, cult-chah…

OK, so I’m hot “hip” like the rest of you kids, as I’ve NEVER seen an episode of Adventure Time. But, I do like funky games like this, so yeah, I’ll play it when it comes out. That said, the answer to that wacky title SHOULD be something like “Because We have a much cooler game on the way!” as in, I hope to hell you’re going to announce that Earth Defense Force 3 IS indeed Vita-bound in the U.S. of A., D3! It’s looking spectacular and could be one of the biggest games on Sony’s handheld in terms of sheer replay value. So, yeah – let’s hear some BIG news around this year’s TGS about giant bugs, spaceships and robots – you’ll make a lot of EDF maniacs like me really, really happy…

Quantic Dream is making yet another PS3 exclusive that’s bound to be recognized as one of the truly great games for the system (and heck, any platform) and if the fan reaction is any indication, it’s going to do well when it finally hits sometime next year. To the dopes that think Ellen Page was hired for the gig only because she was a “big” star and Quantic Dream had a bunch of money to toss at her, that’s not quite correct (duh). She’s a damn fine actress, Cage wrote the story with her in mind (I’d gather she was his muse for the project) and fortunately, she was wise enough to take on the challenge of a completely different medium than she’s tackled before. It’s all coming together quite nicely and it’s yet another reason to be a happy PS3 owner these days…

Oz The Great And Powerful Trailer: Every Great Tale Needs A Beginning…

I’d been on the fence about this Sam Raimi film until I saw the trailer and picked out a few fun bits that pay homage to the 1939 film (which, classic status aside, was vastly different from the book it was based on, by the way) as well as a few of L. Frank Baum’s fourteen Oz books. SO, yup… it’s on my list of stuff to see at some point. Man, is James Franco in every other film and TV show these days or what? Of course, he’s great at what he does, so I have zero complaints about his acting skills. March 2013 is when it’s coming out, so I have time to maybe catch up on some reading. Maybe I’ll watch Return to Oz again at some point if it pops up on cable. I never really liked it much when I first saw it during its original theatrical release, but perhaps it’s aged better since then. We shall see…

A Minute Of Dredd Makes For A Good Impression…

It’s so very nice to see that the upcoming film is quite close to the old 2000 A.D. comics in tone and spirit (no Rob Schneider mucking up the works), so that’s a big thumbs up from me. I see from poking around a few other sites that the San Diego Comic-Con screening went well, so good for Lionsgate and all involved. Granted, I’m betting the film won’t touch the box office tallies The Dark Knight Rises will rake in, but it’s great to see Dredd finally getting a film that’s worthy of the name.
