Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon Update, Small Version

Yes indeed, the game does exist (yes!) and D3Publisher of America is indeed publishing it. More news to come when D3 is ready to announce it in “the near future” according to my source. No problem at all, folks (as long as it’s NOT a 2017 release, ha ha). 2011 is going to be a very good year for gaming (indeed!).

Updates to come as we get more info.

If Snowblind Studios made a Tic-Tac-Toe game, I'd still buy it. While the developer has only a handful of titles under its collective belt, the Action/RPG genre just wouldn't be quite the same without games such as Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath, or Champions: Return to Arms. The versatile Snowblind Engine in the right hands means you're getting a supremely addictive chunk of gaming for your money. Snowblind's knack for visually intricate locales mixed with instantly accessible gameplay even made for a solid super-hero treatment in WBIE's sleeper, Justice League Heroes (which wasn't exactly an instant classic, but was a ton of fun to play, had a great story and more Green Lanterns than you could shake a stick at).

New Blood Stone 007 Trailer

More Blood Stone 007 trailer coolness here – it’s really looking more and more like an actual Bond film each time. Love the return of the classic silver Aston Martin DB5, the big set pieces and massive Ken Adam-like “sets” where some of the dynamic action sequences take place. November can’t come soon enough…

Here’s a nicely shot Heroes Del Ring game trailer for your Monday viewing pleasure – enjoy!

Power Gig: Rise of the Six String "Volcano Drop" Trailer Promo, Well… Rocks!

Seven45 Studios rather awesomely answers the musical question “Now just what the hell do we DO with all those old guitar controllers?” in this, er…, hot trailer. Power Gig: Rise of the Six String is set to hit retail for the PS3 and Xbox 360 next month. Real or fantastically crafted Internet hoax, the video has sort of cooked up a minor tempest of controversy among some YouTube viewers. Poke around here tomorrow for a gallery and info on the soon to be released PS3/Xbox 360 music game (as well its real guitar controller)…

Disney Epic Mickey – Dark Beauty Castle Preview

It’s certainly dark and truly beautiful (in a nicely twisted manner), that’s for sure. Each new teaser makes me want to get my hands on the game all the quicker. Game of the Year on the Wii? I’d say it’s absolutely in the running…

Sort of Breaking News: Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon Confirmed!*

I was HIGHLY skeptical for about a week or so, but a few pokes around the Internet has pretty much confirmed this. Now, all we need to find out about are who’s developing and publishing (I’m thinking Namco Bandai might be involved here), which consoles it’s on and if there’s going to be an actual retail package (a MUST in my book). I have to run out in a few minutes, but I’ll edit this post later or cook up a new one next week on my unrepentant love for the EDF series, Sandlot and the Simple 2000 lineup.

Awesome news – now let’s hope it’s playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show!

* Well, more or less confirmed, folks. I’m in the process of digging around for actual screens or game footage. GameStop Manager’s Conference banner and “official” looking logo on an otherwise empty game page or not, true 100% proof only exists if we can see what the darn game looks like!

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath PS3-Bound In 2011 Via PSN

In more fantastic gaming news, one of the best (and supremely under-appreciated at retail) original Xbox games is headed to the PlayStation 3 next year, courtesy of UK developer JAW (Just Add Water), creators of the excellent PSN/PSP “retro” arcade shooter, Gravity Crash. The unique “western” themed Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath was a single player focused first-person shooter/action game (with the ability to switch to third-person on the fly), excellent enemy AI, a capture or kill bounty system and an innovative “live ammo” aspect (among other amazingly well-designed features ahead of their time). And the story was great, also (in case you hadn't guessed). Despite excellent reviews, the game didn't perform that well at retail and soon afterward the Oddworld series dropped off the map until recently.

2K Games CONFIRMS Duke Nukem (Is No Longer Taking) Forever, PAX 2010 Audience Sees Playable Version, Flying Pigs, Hell Freeze Over Simultaneously

Holy “it's about flippin' time!” ladies and gents. Ever since the game was announced back in 1996 I've been having dreams where “Damn, those alien bastards destroyed my ride!” kicked things off and until now, all my hopes of Duke-ing it out with hordes of space pigs, floating heads and other uglies while hoping I've enough dollar bills to see digitized naughty bits have been smashed (smashed, I say!) by all sorts of obstacles for a few PC and console generations.

PAX attendees, however, are getting one of the gaming shocks of this century (so far) as 2K Games has not only confirmed DUKE NUKEM FOREVER exists, it's PLAYABLE (well, to those over 17, that is).

*Oink!* (flapflapflapflapflap!)

Yup, that was a pig. Flying. Shocking indeed. But Gearbox rocks (and they can make a damn good FPS) , so I'm happy as a pig in.. well, you know… Press release below, by the way.

DreamCatcher Reveals Arcania – Gothic 4 Demo Date + Pre-Order PC Version Discounts

Well alright – I've been waiting for news on a Gothic 4 demo and here it is. Two hour PC and Xbox 360 trial versions will launch on September 24 in advance of the game's October 12, 2010 release date. Between the incredible looking Arcania and a certain other European-style RPG (Two Worlds II), I'm going to be in RPG nirvana. The Gothic series has always been great for plenty of challenging open-world thrills and quests galore (and hell, I liked the original Two Worlds, warts and all).

Anyway, press release and links below – click away!
