I know, I know – I need to finish updating the blogroll over there on the right (yeah, the one that was like three times longer before I accidentally deleted all the links a while back, oops!), as I’ve added a few new folks to my reading list along with some other sites you should check out. I’ll get to that this weekend. I’m still in the process of reformatting over 1000 older posts from the old DAF site to WordPress and that process has been sloooooow thanks to me being that one man band with busted instruments. Anyway, I figured out a devious plan to fix old posts AND get news ones up by linking to them in the future. This will force me to fix those old posts so they don’t link back to the old site anymore and MAYBE, some of those stubborn-heads who’ve subscribed there will slowly but surely get the point and drift on over here at some point. “Yeah, that’s the ticket!” he said, rolling his eyes… Oy yoy yoy, do I need me one of those typing monkeys. Or a Roomba with working fingers to kill a few birds with one stone…

Only Two Posts Today? I’m Slipping! OK, Not Really…

Bleh. Long and tiring day, I lost my camera, so no CE pics to post with the stuff I’m going to be writing save for some stock pics I’ll need to grab at some point this weekend. That said, I fell head over heels for a super simple tablet carrier that’s pure genius, a camera mount that Apple only wishes it came up with, a stupidly expensive gaming PC, a crazy but simple exercise device and a massage chair, both also costing an arm and a leg. Add in the new Westinghouse (of all companies!) TV with a screen you can DRAW ON (Wha-whaaaaaat?), more 4K madness that you can shake a stick at (despite NO 4K programming to watch at all… yet), a bunch of other fun stuff (WATERPROOF phone/tech bags!) and yup. CE Week is pretty darn cool. My 2013 Holiday Gift Guide is going to be an easy one to write, that’s for sure…
Got a stupidly long conference to attend tomorrow, but we’ll see about that, as it’s all about second screen evangelizing and I know for a fact that we’re a good hack away from none of that stuff working as well as everyone wishes. Eh, well. maybe I’ll learn something interesting other than hearing “game changer” and “revolution” every sixteen seconds… back tomorrow. Good night.

Bleh. “We are experiencing operating difficulties… please stand by.” OK, after ignoring it for a wee bit too long thanks to too many downloads, program uninstalls and reinstalls plus a few registry cleanings, my laptop is chugging along like a dead frog. I’m needing to clean up and defrag the hard drive, so things are moving slooooooower than usual today. Well, it won’t take TOO long. Oh, it’s only four hours and (checks Defraggler again) twenty two minutes, thirty-seven seconds left, than a reboot and maybe clearing out a few more games to the larger external drive if I need even more space. Bleh. OK, off to do something else constructive until then. I’ll have some cool Batman-related news for you shortly. If you’re in NYC in a few weeks, you’ll love this. and maybe walk away with something awesome… and pocket-sized.
Too… Many… Games… THUD.

OK, my eyeballs are absolutely swirling in my head after a day of E3 craziness. One more update after this and I’m taking the rest of the night off, getting some sleep and popping up bright and early to add a ton of posts from this evening’s wild announcements before the Nintendo press event kicks off. The PS4 looks really interesting in terms of the powerhouse first-party studios doing cool stuff, the Xbox One is following its own path with its own nice-looking exclusives and a crazy always-online plan that’s shutting out loyal 360 owners living in areas with bad to no online connections. Granted, Sony’s combo of the PS Eye camera as standard issue seems to also do the same thing… but according to the press conference, the console allows for selling of used games and no DRM restrictions (whee!), so it’s going to be an easy choice for some and a hard as hell one for others…
Yeah, Yeah…

OK, despite the super-nice new weather outside (whee), I’m still not quite awake today and mistakes have been made. But they’ve been fixed.
EDIT! It’s a damn good thing bad spelling isn’t a work safety issue (well, under normal circumstances and definitely NOT in the case of a misread prescription thanks to a doctor that scribbles like he or she’s ON too many of the drugs they want you to take).
Imagine if it were, though?
Then all you blogger-types would have to deal with mandatory viewings of safety videos based on this Herk Harvey classic:
That is all. Back later – I may need to soak my head in a pot of coffee, though…
Xbox One? So Far… Eh, I’m Not (Too) Impressed…

Well, the Xbox One DOES turn on when you ask it to thanks to the new Kinect sensor integration (that seems to be REALLY fluid), but that just means that mute gamers can save their money. And yes, it responds to arm waving commands as well, so yeah, if you’re a gamer who can’t wave both arms around, you get to buy another console as well. I also HATE the not so subtle privacy violating going on here as the expectation that EVERY gamer wants to be “connected” is the biggest lie in plenty of cases.

Eh, this conference is practically nothing to me until I see some GAMES… 27 minutes in and it’s all about features. Oh, and it’s cloud-based, which screws anyone in a low-bandwidth area… Boo to enforcing “evolution” in this manner. Between this and the need for a smartphone in order to use some features (bleh), this will appeal to those who can afford all the services out of the gate and those who want all the fancy functions PURE gamers like me hate. Oh well… I’ll hold out for the rest of this conference just to see what first-party content is coming. I have the feeling that this may be the first new console I don’t buy…

Well, it WASN’T supposed to be such a damn slow day here, but between the rain keeping me inside and away from a decent wi-fi connection and some issues with a PC game I was trying to get running, it’s been kind of a “Meh” day for productivity. I did, however, discover this little clip from the old Sega Saturn and PC game Enemy Zero that sums up all of today in three seconds:
Yeah, well… I’ll get over it tomorrow. OK, enough time burning – back to the salt mines for me…
Slooooooooooooow Traaaain!

Hell, it’s NOT a slow day here at all, folks. I just have a REALLY slower than usual internet connection hell today. Bleh. I wanted to do about nine more posts, but it looks as if that’s going to be about five short, which stinks. Worse, I’ll be stuck here tomorrow for a bit, as I need to wait around for a delivery I didn’t get today, so I may be a bit backlogged into the weekend (Nooooooooo!). Oh well – it’s not as if I hit the disco or anything outdoorsy like that anyway. Stay tuned…

Won-derful. Updates will be slow as molasses today (or Mo Lassus, that really terrible relief pitcher in my fake fantasy baseball league with the 40.7 ERA – hey, he owns the team and likes living in the cellar!) thanks to some rather stupid shenanigans going on with the otherwise reliable virus scanner I use giving me grief while I try and do some needed updating. While I’m trying to figure this out without beating my monitor senseless (gently!) while pretending it’s the slow and not so helpful support I’ve been getting, I figure it’s a good idea to let you fine folks know I’ll probably end up under my post count. Still, there’s a LOT coming and I do need to make sure FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan (just call him York!) gets his daily due.
Back in a bit. I have no mouth online, but I must scream at something…

In case you didn’t notice, today’s posts are popping in a bit late. That’s thanks to me being up way too early (to write a quick farewell to Lucasarts) an out and about for the better part of the day seeing a BUNCH of new games. Namco Bandai, Codemasters and 505 Games have some nice surprises coming up (all under embargo, so I can’t say much more than that for now, folks) and I’ll have a few previews to write up in a week or so. OK, off to add an actual update or two before midnight, as these status updates don’t count at all towards my post totals. Well, YOU can count them, but I don’t. No news is not good news in these cases (well, for me at least)…
