From The Vaults, Slowly They Come (#1 of Who Knows How Many)…

KZ_Sly 2 Press LPs KZ_Sly 2 Press LPs2

Thanks to years of writing for a few places, I have a LOT of press stuff here socked away in a few bins (I tend to keep just about everything I’ve gotten of importance). When I’m not doing my usual headless chicken thing, I keep plotting and planning to post a few galleries of the assorted discs and other material I’ve held on to, but I just haven’t had the time to pore through that mountain of materials. Anyway, thanks to these two press kits popping out of a box while I was digging up some old games someone wants to buy from me, I guess this is now one part of a many-part project I’ve launched. That’s one of the Sly 2: Band of Thieves press kit on the left and Killzone on the right. They’re about the size of a 12″ vinyl LP, by the way. I don’t think I have any more records here or I’d have done a size comparison. Or If I do have any records left around here they’re probably hiding out in a different bin I haven’t cracked open in a few years. Eek.

I’m not sure when another update is coming from the press vaults, as it’s a daunting task to dive in and not get lost going through things for hours and reminiscing. All that does is leave me with stacks of stuff to repack and no place to sleep if I don’t. Of course, a helper monkey who can make lists and take pictures would be a total help, but they don’t exist yet and any robot I want to think of buying can only vacuum my floor or dance (but not both? Come on technology, get with it already!). Ah well… I guess I’ll get this thing taken care of when I can…

Random Films: Two From France I Can’t Watch…

made in franceOK, some stuff from the vaults with a goofy story behind them. My late dad gave me a box of VHS tapes around 15 or 20 years back and these two were ones that I couldn’t play on my NTSC tape player (they’re both SEACAM format). I recall telling him this later when he called to ask if I liked the movies and he said he’d “get back to me” later on this. I knew what that meant, so I told him he didn’t have to go looking for a player here at all because even if he DID find one, I’d still need a TV that could play it. If you ever knew my dad long enough, you’d know he had a sort of single-minded pursuit of the great deal mindset to him that was fascinating and slightly pesky once in a while when he’d end up with multiples of some items if you’d simply asked for one. I had to stop him from looking for a VCR and TV on that occasion because I knew he’d somehow find both in his travels and I really didn’t want him to spend that money just so I could watch two movies, one of which I’d already seen…

Random Art: What’s Old Is Still Old. The Post Is New, Though…

New York City 1984-85 (Custom) More digging through the vaults, folks. Yup, it’s kind of awful, but back in 1984 I was still learning (well, teaching myself how to work a brush and dip pen around in some India ink. I kind of wish I had a time machine, as there’s a load of artwork that I did back then that’s no longer around and a nice chunk was pretty solid from what I recall responses on it being back then. Of course, I’d be time traveling with a baseball bat to get the people who stole a bunch of my work in school and a few other places (well, only if I could vanish into the present and get away clean. Hey, thieves deserve no less than a knock to the head, I say!)… or at least make them BUY the stuff they stole, grrrr…

Anyway, blah and blah, blah. Maybe I’ll post more stuff from the vaults one of these days. I’m kind of swamped at the moment with actual work. This is just some filler because I’m having an off day…
