Dragon’s Dogma Story Trailer Teaser

Capcom’s been cooking this one up for a while and while the full version of this trailer won’t be revealed until 1/31, they’re releasing this short tease to get you all worked up (and rightly so). I’m also gathering they’ve been tightening up the gameplay significantly from the demo versions I played last year, as there were a few issues that needed ironing out. Then again, a demo is just that, and in no way signifies the quality of the final build. PS3 and Xbox 360 owners will get to see that for themselves as Capcom is promising a “flood of Dragon’s Dogma info on the way!”

Well, that means I’ll be posting it when it splashes around in my inbox…

Capcom’s NYCC Plans: Frights, Fights and… Football?

Since I’m a bit busy today (actually I’m working on a ton of stuff before the convention crush), I’ll be too lazy and just run the entire release below the jump. Dragon’s Dogma, Asura’s Wrath and the Resident Evil titles are all on my list of things to play, but I’ll also try out the fighters even though I’m terrible at them. And yes, if you’re bad at fighters at the Capcom booth, you’re pretty much getting beat up on screen and off. Maybe my press barge will get me some slack cut. I’m definitely staying away from that football event, but it should be amusing to watch (I hope no one gets hurt making an ass out of themselves for a prize, but hey – you can’t stop a raging fan from doing his or her thing for swag!)

TGS 2011: Dragon’s Dogma Trailer

The more I see of Capcom’s action/RPG, the more I like what I see. Granted, I don’t think it’ll be as ridiculously huge as some of the other open-world RPG’s from this or last year, but there’s no doubt that it’ll be one of those games that pulls in players willing to succumb to its charms. Hell, at this point trying to compare too many of these games is a losing battle, kids – just play as many of these epics as you can fit into your schedules and enjoy them based on their own merits. None take place in the same worlds, so it’s a fool’s errand to tackle criticizing point for point aspects (unless there’s some sort of magic crossover system in your favorite console). I hope this pops up as playable at NYCC next month, as I need some hands-on time so i can see how cool it really is.

Dragon’s Dogma Box Art

A simple but effectively generic heroic pose makes up the cover art for Capcom’s upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 action/RPG. We’ll need to see if the final version is one for the ages and not one for the bargain bin, so here’s hoping it pops up as one of the playable games at this year’s NY Comic-Con.

Gamescom 2011: Dragon’s Dogma Gameplay

Capcom’s biggest in-house game to date seems to be dividing certain fans who want and/or expect them to do a Monster Hunter game for this generation’s HD consoles, but I say give this new IP a chance and see how it turns out. Granted, what I’m reading about it elsewhere makes it seem not so spectacular, but I’m more than willing to give the final version a whirl just because I love seeing what any developer can do with an original IP. Action/RPGs like this always seem to find a loyal audience among those who like diamonds in the rough, so we’ll see what happens once a demo goes public and more get some hands-on time. Of course, I’m sure constructive feedback from those who’ve played it will help the dev team tweak things a bit before the game launches. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best…
