Status

OK, I’m NOT dead today – just waiting at home with both thumbs stuck somewhere while the cable boxes get switched out/upgraded/whatever, so that’s keeping me away from being online on a higher speed connection. MEANWHILE, my inbox is PACKED with stuff to write about and I’m getting antsy like Sinatra in The Man With The Golden Arm. Which will be a Random Film of the Week if I haven’t done it yet. OK, more waiting… Bleh. Back in a bit (Hopefully, as a ONE post day for me will, as the kids say, SUCK. Or blow (as the kids also say… damn kids…).

Maybe It’s A Half-Day Today…

OK, you kids, I’m taking the rest of the day off (maybe), as I’ve a few games piling up that could use a review (whee!). I may be back later tonight just to add a Random Film of the Week(end), which in case you’re interested, will be Peter Bogdanovich’s 1968 film TARGETS (a tough one to watch, but somewhat educationally intriguing in debates that are popping up about video games “causing” violence). Other than that and a few random posts I want to toss up before the month is done tomorrow, it’s been a busy March for me – over 200 posts this month when I’d planned 150. Hmmm… maybe I’m thinking too small or something. Well, whatever – use up those brain cells for constructive purposes while I can, I guess. Back in a bit…

I’ve Created a Monster!

Status

Eeek. I guess this is a good thing, though. I had a personal target this month to do a solid 150 posts no matter what. Five posts a day isn’t that big a deal for me, but I’ve had a hard time keeping that schedule in the past thanks to too many distractions and yeah, a bit of “Oh, I’ll update that tomorrow!” going on. Well, so much for THAT attitute, huh? I’m currently at 160 posts (which doesn’t include this brief-ola update). Let’s see now: there’s over a week to go in the month and I’m still working on some games and a tech product or two to review. Ho-kay, that’s really awesome and all, but how do I top this productivity spurt next month and onwards?

I guess I’ll not even worry one bit about that and let things happen as they happen, so (as always) we shall see. Off to trek home and make some dinner (a bit late, but that’s what happens when I get rolling)…

Oh, It Certainly WASN’T A Slow Day…

Status

Actually, today was pretty busy for me at Toy Fair, but after three days I’m near totally beat, so no new updates until tomorrow! I’ll be at the show another day until about 2:30 or so, as I have an appointment at an Electronic Arts event shortly afterward. It’s not too far away, so I’ll most likely walk the 15 blocks rather than waste the transit fare. I’ve Got a lot of catching up to do, what with the cool Despicable Me 2 toys I saw downtown a few hours ago looking pretty hot for fans of that upcoming sequel, a bunch of pics and more jumpy videos to post from the show floor (oh, for a nice GoPro camera!) and plenty of stuff to write about. Oh yeah – I got in some new games to review as well and I have a GRID 2 hands-on preview and Skylanders Swap Force impressions to post.

I think that’s it… no, wait, I sent some interview questions to Natsume about Carnage Heart EXA yesterday – I just need to wait a bit before they boomerang back this way.

Man, I need a nice vacation… and more stuff to play with. Wait…. maybe the games are the vacation?

Holy Puck! There’s A Hockey “Season” After All…

Status

Oops. Leave it to me to joke about no season and be wrong. Oh well – not like I watch hockey anyway and judging from the reactions from a few fans I know, they won’t be doing much watching either. Well, at least some businesses that rely of the hardcore fans can hopefully salvage something out of this and yep, there’s always next year… er, later this year when the new full season is supposed to start, right?

I have the feeling that for some folks, this will be the year they want to be a lot less social, at least in terms of their online lives. Why, you ask? Well, given that every week we find out that (duh) everything we do is seen and pored over in detail by people we probably wouldn’t want in our homes or anywhere close to them and some of those sites we’re so enamored of are full of security holes big enough to float a battleship though. Add in the no-fault ever changeable terms of service that get people raging when they fund out they’re suddenly part of a corporation’s ad campaign and a few other stupid things straight out of a bad sci-fi novel and yup, I can see some deciding basta es basta when it comes to an online presence they no longer have complete control of… Continue reading →

Updates: Incoming, Now Playing And So Forth And So On…

Hokay – I’m swimming in games as of late with more on the way as noted on the other DAF blog), but I’ll be updating a bit over the weekend. Nintendo Land, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Wii Edition) and if I can get through it without dropping dead from fright, Zombi U will get posted along with a few other things. I need to figure out what December’s banner will be as well, so suggestions are welcome. I have games popping up every few days now, so the holiday backlog will continue… eek. But hey, it’s certainly a great time to be into the hobby, that’s for sure!

Hmmm, We Seem To Be Back (Or: Oh, What The???)…

I guess my double secret probation is over. Of course I get this sudden surprise after I’ve already set the moving trucks out. Yeesh. Well, I may as well go through with the rest of the insanely complex process given all the time and money I’ve just spent. Yeesh… that’s progress, I suppose.

Hokay – it was raining earlier and now it’s snowing a bit. So far, it’s warm enough that that now snowing snow that’s blowing sideways won’t stick, but the wind is kicking up a little, so the temperature will drop. Looks like I’m inside for the day and it’s a good thing I have games to finish…

Back in a bit. If I’m not sitting in the dark, I may even post a review or two.

Updates To Come, But Sloooooowly, It Seems…

Bah. What with all this MAJOR bandwidth chugginess from everyone in the area basically hogging more time online thanks to all sorts of Sandy-related issues (hell, at least we have power up here!), updates are going to be a bit slow (well, slower than usual) in coming on some stuff. That’s good news in that I can take time to complete a few more games I’d started, but bad news for my post count, Which I wanted to keep going daily with a certain number of posts per day.

Hmm. Well, I guess THIS counts as one of those posts, huh? Oh well. Off to take a nap, as I just cam back from the airport a little while ago and am WIPED out. I’ll probably dream of some games I need to finish, most likely…
