Ay carumba! Me bones are weary bones, arrrr! Or something like that. “My neck, My back, My ass.”* Wow, I’m pooped after waking up too early (5am) and getting to Toy Fair too early, but at least they had coffee and some stuff to snack on. Anyway, updates will be slower than usual for a few days. I’m taking Monday off to do take care of some personal stuff and then it’s back to Toy Fair Tuesday and Wednesday. Now, if you’ll excuse me… I’m going to keel over and sleep for a virtual week… Zzzzz.
*(yeah, that line’s stolen/paraphrased from Matt Groening’s awesome Life in Hell collection)
Today may be slow for updates, but we’ll see. I’m getting ready for this new snowstorm about to hit here tonight and into tomorrow, as the radio is telling me nothing good. On the other hand, we’ve had storms not make it through here full strength, so I have a grain or three of salt that came with that weather blast. On the OTHER hand, the last two snowfalls were nice and semi accurate to a fault, so I think tomorrow will be crappy for getting out and about. On the OTHER hand (yeah, I have an extra one here just for posts like this), I could just ignore the snow and tra-la-la about like it’s midsummer or something, but I think the men in white coats will come or me if I do that. Hell, if it’s warm where they’re taking me and I can get free medical attention, I’m running around outside naked tomorrow once I pop out of bed and get a cup of hot tea or coffee in me.
Ho-kay. I just posted something (that deep down article below) and it shows up as posting YESTERDAY. Wow. Hmmm… I’ll leave it as is, but I want that power to pull this off at will, not via some funky WordPress shenanigans. I only had half a cup of coffee in my system and I really thought today was Thursday for about half a minute after I ran that post (until I double checked by flipping NY1 on and seeing that yes, it IS Friday the 7th). Hey, it’s happened before where I’ve had THAT vivid a dream about a mundane day, woken up and thought it was a day later than it was. Oh, come on, you KNOW you have too. I like to spread my kind of crazy around, folks. Anyway, let me get back to work – this is a test post to make sure it’s Friday. Back in a bit…
Hey, so it’s SNOWING again. There’s about four inches or so of PERFECT snowball grade mix on the ground (although it looks like more if you look at the lovely coating on the trees and normally grassy areas here) and it looks as if we'[ll get an inch or so more before is stops (the weather report says around 4PM). All that and we’re expecting to get hit twice more this week (Wednesday and Saturday say the weather genie), so I’m gathering I’ll be updating a bit less than normal. Daily posts will be incoming, but if for some reason I’m stuck indoors with my slow home connection, you’ll probably see one to three posts (if that) instead of the bunch more I’d rather run. Damn groundhogs and their shadow-seeing ways (not really, as that hoax makes less sense by the year). Anyway, enough with the weather reportage – I have more important stuff to do…
Hmmm. Today is being a near total pain in the neck, so updates will be minimal other than a background and banner swap and when I can get to it, one or two posts (or more if I have time). Between the almost (but not really) fatal Gorilla Glue incident earlier, me not realizing I’d run out of aspirin and some other mildly annoying stuff, it’s been a pretty freaky Friday here. Eh, I’ll live. At least this crap happened at the end of the month and not the beginning. Okay, off to do some work!
Tick, tock, tick, tock… Hey there, folks. I’m sitting here waiting for a few packages (some games, memory for a PC here I need to upgrade, and a few other cool things), so updating will be less than usual. Boo. I’m working through that Toukiden: The Age of Demons demo I picked up yesterday as I type this (well, my Vita is next to me waiting for me to finish this update and get back to it), so it’s not as if I’m staring at a wall or anything. Okay, back in a bit, hopefully with some more thrilling posts. Or less thrilling. We’ll see…
Oy yoy yoy. Let’s see now: It’s a STUPIDLY busy week here in NYC between CES Unveiled, the big, big PlayStation event I didn’t get an invite to today (grrrr… Sony, you’re killing me with this not keeping me posted on stuff!), a bunch of other things going on AND some reviews that need to get completed in the next couple of days. I’ve got a big, fat headache that’s fading now, but it kept me fuzzed out all day until the UPS guy rolled up with a new game (my stack of to-do games that was shrinking is now growing again) and I got a few more review codes I’ll get to starting Wednesday. There’s also the matter of laundry, but that’s usually a two-day affair I need to find two days this week to get to. Yeah, I do all my own laundry and cooking – so what. Don’t get any ideas, though, people. If you show up with a sack of dirty laundry and a sack of fresh fish, I’ll sock you with the salmon and stuff you in that bag with your unmentionables.
OK, off to boil some water. It’ll be for tea or pasta or both. I haven’t decided yet. Too much going on here…
Okay, class. The wi-fi was DEAD at the library when I jetted back uptown after the great Sake in the City II event, or else there would be a post up already about my fun time at the event. Bleh. Anyway, I woke up waaay too early this morning, went out to do some laundry, lost some money in the process and had to make an emergency withdrawal (boo!), but the event and the three seminars I took made up for it. I’ll pop a post in about this tomorrow or Wednesday, but right now I’m BEAT from a long day and way too much sake. I’m not drunk at all, mind you – I just have a bit of a headache from sampling so many types and not having any caffeine at all today, so it’s a confused brain wondering where its real buzz is. Yep, I’m drinking a cup of coffee as I type this and yep, my headache is fuzzing away. A quart of water should take care of that sake swimming pool in my stomach, but I actually didn’t drink all that much (although I stopped counting at 16 samples of 16 different varieties). Okay- let me poke through my email, as I haven’t checked it since last night and I know my mailbox is PACKED. Back in a bit…
Ha. I’m not even downtown at Flu Central Station (aka New York Comic-Con 2013) and I’m feeling like someone’s scraping my throat with sandpaper wrapped in barbed wire. Yuk. It’s the damned library here with its wheezing teens, old people and kids and man, whatever I got socked with is fast moving and nasty. Bleh. Thankfully, I’ve some Throat Coat tea at home, enough limes to open a fruit stand and a fresh jar of honey. I may have to break out my chicken soup making skills for this one, but I’ll need to defrost that bird taking up space in the freezer and get to work cooking it for the carcass. Anyway, updates will be slow this weekend just so I’m alive for a few meetings next week I’ve already scheduled. I need to be careful with my health these days, as my current insurance plan goes something like this:
Did I mention I despise being sick (especially when it’s not my fault)? Eh, welcome to the human race, I suppose. I don’t even want to KNOW what my fellow writer types are going to be dealing with after NYCC is over. Usually, you’re hoarse, have tired legs and feet, maybe a few paper cuts and if you imbibed from one of those public fountains at the event, that combined with whatever bad food you’ve eaten will get you into solitary confinement in the comfort of your own bathroom for a wee bit too long. OK, that’s a bit of TMI for some of you out there, but I’m just telling it like it is…
Nope, I didn’t take the day off Thursday*, ladies and gents. I was at The Luxury Review for a few hours checking out some incredible products and possibly drinking too many adult beverages. My head will let me know in the morning, but I think the good quart of so of water I’ve been drinking since I stumbled in the door about twenty minutes ago will stave off the Beast from Hangover Square. OK, I need to sleep now… and dream of that $10,000 bed I got to fall on for a bit and now want to sell both kidneys to buy. Back tomorrow… no, wait – later today with some reportage from the event. Thanks to Terry “Valkor” Lewis from The Other View for hanging out woth me as my guest. He’s quite a card, that one…
And ha, ha, ha! My current unread email count is in the many hundreds just from not doing any work yesterday. This will be a “fun” Thursday, that’s for certain… I hope my brain can keep up. We’ll see, I guess… we’ll see… Good Night!
*Aheh. I was definitely feeling the after effects of that free booze bath, kids. Wednesday? Now I’m losing track of what day I attend events! Wooo…
