Slow Somewhat Sleepy (But Not At All) Saturday Stuff…

Updates will be kind of minimal this weekend, but I don’t think you’re around to read this. I do have some game codes to give away, so that’s going to get done today or tomorrow depending on when I get back from the great outdoors and a few other distractions I need to tackle. I have a few films to write up for some blogathons and I believe I hear some ten for a dollar vegetarian spring rolls and gyoza calling me to buy them while I’m outside… I love bargains, don’t you? Anyway, off to do some perambulating and spelunking. Back in a bit…

Housekeeping? This Is Control. Get Back To Work!

Hey, a year older means I get to think harder about stuff I want to do here on the site this year, so I’ll be tweaking a few things over the next few weeks. Mostly cleaning up the tags (they’re really mucked up), resizing old videos so they can be seen (WordPress tends to get funky when it makes stuff smaller automatically for some oddball reason) and getting back to fixing about a thousand older posts so all the links work properly. Yeah, I said A THOUSAND (yikes!). This is the most daunting thing I have to do, as it involves a LOT of html tweaking and maybe re-uploading stuff which means a LOT of going through image searches and my older blog (that’s still up but not updated save for a banner change and token post once a month). Ugh. I’d actually thought I found someone to help out with that stuff, but it seems he vanished before we could talk more about getting this done. Oh well… this is one of those projects where it’s best handled by the person who caused the whole mess. But Google won’t want to work for me, I’d bet (little in-joke there folks who use or used Blogger may understand).

Anyway, off to bed for my well-aged self. Yikes, it’s only a number, but if I stop to think about it, I’ve been around for some time. Eeek…

My Connection Needs Some Coffee!

Wow. Sloooooooooower than a dead snail going uphill! Less powerful than a pair of rusted tin cans with a broken string! Unable to upload even the smallest of images without locking up! Look up and scream “WHY?!” “It’s a turd!” “Who’s to blame?” Nope, it’s stupid, man! (AND HOW!)

Bleh, it must be the weather today or something, but the internet has been DEAD here to-day. I spent something like three hours trying to post stuff and between pages crashing or not loading when I try to save and do other stuff, I’m not a happy camper. Well, I think THIS post will go up, as it’s image-free. Let me see what happens and if it works, I’ll try getting a few more up. What a stupid day… otherwise, I’m pretty happy, thanks for asking.

POW! BANG! Monday Being Monday Means It’s A Monday…

Well, at last I got some good news this morning. Tales of Hearts R is Vita bound this winter! More on that in an actual post later. Other than that, my scanner died (boo!), I’ve a UBS stick that got wiped of useful files (boo!) and I woke up with a slight headache and backache (old!). Eh, nothing to see here, move along. That, and I overslept a bit and now am catching up on stuff kind of in reverse order. Just another Monday with a slightly different flavor to it (somewhat moldy?). Anyway, let me stop griping and get out of here. I need to mail off a box of stuff and get motivated by that nice (but still not quite spring-like) weather outside.

Okay, it’s not THAT bad, but I do miss my portability which adds access to wi-fi. Anyway, the AMUSING thing is my anti-virus program has cloud storage that I used a bit of when I installed it, but as I’m on a crap connection here, I can’t access it to get to the stuff I was working on! Isn’t technology WONDERFUL? Nope. Anyway, the “good” news part one: my replacement power supply should be here by Thursday. The bad/good news: Verizon is forcing everyone in the area still on crap connections into an upgrade over the next few months, but is being kind of shifty when it comes to discussing what it will cost and whether it’s going to be one of those “pay by bandwidth” deals that’s NOT a deal for folks like me who shift words and games around in large enough quantities that we’re hit with fees and caps that make no sense. I hate when companies claim they’re doing stuff in the best interest of the consumers because it’s never, ever true when you get right down to it, grrrr.

(thanks, BlankTV!)

Eh, we’ll see where this new madness goes. I still want to keep the land line as long as possible because mobile phones blow in cases of emergencies around here while I can dial out and reach someone on the home phone. That and I can see nothing but grief from a connection that’s SUPPOSED to be more stable not being so stable, but hey – progress, right?

Monday Happened To Me BEFORE Monday. No Fair!

Bleh. So, last night I’m working on the laptop on a few things (some stuff to complete and post today) when I notice my battery indicator flashing while the laptop is plugged in. A quick check revealed the stupid power adapter/charger had a busted wire, which I didn’t notice and had me wondering what the heck happened. I figure it was someone in the library a few days back, either the kid running around who hit the table and knocked the power supply to the floor or the cranky lady with her own laptop that may have yanked out my cord and not hers by mistake when she was fumbling around packing up her crap. I was busy writing, but I heard some stuff being unplugged (she was using three of the four outlets under the table) and her mutter “sorry” to no one at some point, so I’m gathering it was me she was apologizing to for pulling something she shouldn’t have. Oh, quite you there in the back! Mind in the gutter, I say!

(thanks, stevensonjohn964!)

Anyway, I’m home of the chuggy connection, so updates will be slim to slimmer until the replacement adapter shows up. At least the GOOD news here is it only cost me about eleven dollars with shipping to replace the power supply, as prices have dropped on OEM parts for this old computer. About a year or so back, I was looking at paying almost four times as much for the same item. So perhaps I should thank Lady Cranky if I ever see her in the library again, but I think I’ll just sit somewhere else or else I’ll be needing to buy up a bunch of replacements and sticking them in a closet here…

Annnd, We’re Back (After A Mistake or Two)…

Okay, so I didn’t get much sleep Monday night (as in none) and I wasn’t feeling so hot, but I decided to get some work done. Kind of a bad idea, as I ended up deleting a long article I’d been working on before it auto-saved (gyaaah!) and did it AGAIN with another one not too long afterward. Boo. Anyway, after some actual rest and a decent cup of coffee, I’m back in action (instead of back inaction, HAW!). I need to get back outside and down to the library in a bit, as I got up a few hours back to tackle laundry (Part One) and get a package out.

March Onward… But Don’t Wake Me Up, Grrr!

So, I got home this evening expecting to get a few posts in before midnight, but I ended up napping instead. Hey, how did THAT happen?! Meh, so much for productivity. Oh well. I guess I needed that rest after all. I’m most likely preparing for that big snow we’re supposed to get on Monday here (boo!)… or I was just tired after a kind of silly week. Okay, I need to get some articles completed and posted – more Toy Fair impressions, some reviews, an update to a movie post for a blogathon and so forth and so on.

And yes, I woke up to post this and am now going back to bed. Good Night, class. See you in a few hours… Zzzzzz…

Up For Air From Some Tales Action…

Okay, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles has been keeping me occupied today, so I haven’t posted much since that Godzilla trailer. This former GameCube exclusive to PS3 enhanced port is nice and old-school Tales action through and through, including the difficulty early on if you’re silly enough to run into fights unprepared or think that cuteness means the game will be easy. HA. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles laughs at your silly self as its monsters eat you senseless (they start at the head, and work their way down it seems).

Anyway, a review is forthcoming, but not ’til the weekend or so. I need to knock out more thoughtful Toy Fair wrap up posts, dink around with some games in my queue and otherwise stay out of trouble. The cold weather has returned (booo!) and I’m not too pleased about that nonsense. back in a bit…

And in the East? Silence. North (Look up!) and South (and down!)? Yup? Tumbleweeds and a chilly wind because you looked down first, then up (Oops. Pay attention next time!). Anyway, as noted previously, I took today off to do some personal stuff, so there’s nothing thrilling to report because I was not near much tech/game/movie/toy stuff online to keep me otherwise occupied. I’m back now, but won’t fire up the brain box now because I need to be fresh and toasty for the return to Toy Fair and it’s happy madness on Tuesday. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to curl up with a bad movie and pass out in front of the TV. Back tomorrow with actual interesting words…
