Five more images from WayForward Technologies’ upcoming side-scroller. It’s too bad it’s not 1994 or this one would be splashed all over every game magazine as a must-buy title. As it is, it’s getting a big PSN and XBLA release, but I’d really love to see games like this compiled and put on a disc so anyone who wants to play them can do so any time they need a fix. Back with more screens when they pop into my mailbox.

RAGE: Hands-On In The Wasteland
Thanks to the fine folks at Bethesda Softworks and id Software, last Wednesday, I got to spend a good two and a half or so hours with a complete Xbox 360 version of id's latest shooter (and one of 2011's most anticipated games) AND got to see a stunning live presentation of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim afterwards. No, I'm not going to compare them in this preview, silly rabbits. However, I will point out that both are completely different experiences that no gamer worth his or her salt should miss out on. Unlike many other events I've attended, RAGE was set up to play from the beginning from a new profile. While there were a few PR reps and a Bethsoft (or was it id?) employees floating by on occasion to see if things were going OK, I got to play a small chunk of the single player game the very same way you'll dive into it come this October 4. Note: Spoilers below the jump, but given that my progress was limited to what I could do in a few hours, I'm sure none of them are MAJOR reveals.Read more »
Bastion Launch Trailer (YES, You NEED This Game!)
Lovely and now available on Xbox Live Arcade, it’s Supergiant Games’ RPG masterpiece ready for your approval. It’s also coming to Windows later this year (and hopefully on a disc as well as download so more people can play this gem). From the rich visuals to the innovative voice narration (it’s pretty darn genius), this one is an instant classic that demands multiple replays. I’d love to see this on the PS3 and Vita as well, but I guess we’ll see how it does sales-wise, right?
E3 2011: Bastion and Crimson Alliance: Beautiful, Brillaint (And They Should Be In Boxes!)
Games like these deserve more than just a mere XBLA or PC download. Stick a few copies on disc and get it out to retail so you get more people picking it up. Hell, it’ll be a great “impulse” buy either direct from the developer’s site, an online retailer that does both packaged and download content. Indie developers SuperGiant Games and Certain Affinity have winners here and I want to see as many people as possible grooving on their work who don’t have a Xbox 360 in the house (not everyone does) or access to a high-speed connection.
Anarchy Reigns Character Profile: Leo is Back!
Platinum Games’ online enabled brawler is Sega’s second chance and getting it right in terms of publishing a decent multiplayer beat-down (the first was the woeful Iron Phoenix), but it looks as if Platinum is going for the gold here. I’d say that Leo is one more AR character you’d not want to come across in a dark alley, broad daylight or any other situation unless you were being very well protected.
Earth Defense Force Insect Armgeddon Update: Pre-Order Kickoff GO!
D3Publisher of America has launched the pre-order program for its upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 release Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon with a pretty neat deal for those who want a little more bang for their buck. GameStop and Best Buy locations will be offering those who slap down a deposit one of two different cool DLC weapons packs for the game's customizable armor sets.
July 5, 2011 is the official release date for the game and (YES!) D3 is dropping into NYC next week with EDFIA and a bunch of other upcoming titles, so expect a few hands-on reports once I finally come up for air. Three more screens and another trailer below the jump!Read more »
Anarchy Reigns Character Profile: Jack
Another day, another shot of PlatnumGames spectacular-looking multiplayer online fighter. Every new image and trailer I see gets me all the more thrilled. I STILL want my single-player mode, though… (he typed, fingers crossed). New screens going up this weekend once I have a bit more time (he said, trying to finish a few reviews with fingers crossed)…

Decimation X3 Now Available Over Xbox Live
Xona Games wants to blow you away with their XBLA shooter, Decimation X3. This absolutely insane 2D shooter mixes a great retro visual vibe with an excellent soundtrack that's guaranteed to get you off the couch (provided you can dance and shoot simultaneously). Thankfully, the action is so frantic and exhilarating that actual dancing isn't remotely involved. What's even better is the game ONLY costs a measly 80 Microsoft Points, or a whole dollar if you're into that new math. BUY it, is my recommendation. Too bad Microsoft doesn't have a portable system, as DX3 and some of the other awesome games from the Indie Games Uprising would make PERFECT traveling companions (and no, I don't want a Windows Phone to play games on, grrrrr).
press release below the jump.
