Someone sent me this image a few days back but didn’t tell me where it came from but fortunately, some digging reveals it’s from this site packed full of memes and such. I didn’t poke around there at all, as it looks like a serious time trap, a black hole of clock eating madness that will suck you in and make your productivity disappear faster than a roll of quarters going into a slot machine in Vegas. Although… the last time I was in Vegas (Classic Gaming Expo 2007 I think), I think I only spent ten bucks gambling and won seven or eight back. I wanted to throw more money away, but I held out because I needed that cash to blow on a few games for the library. But I digress (as usual). Hopefully that cheat sheet above gets some of you not into the good Doctor to start tracking down episodes to watch before that new Doc makes his appearance. Just don’t try and watch TOO many episodes in one shot. You’ll either hear that main theme in your sleep or the sound of that TARDIS parking brake grinding away burrowing into your skull…

Vitameatavegamin Could Have Been the Red Bull of the 1950’s…
(thanks, Ruthyramon!)
Well, it it actually existed, that is… I think it’s Lucille Ball’s birthday or it just passed or something. My crystal ball is cracked and I’m too lazy to check the internet. Wait… I’m ON the internet. Hold on, blast you… Aha! It’s August 6, 1911, so I’m a day early. Good! Happy Birthday, Lucy!
Doctor Who Revisited: Tom Baker Is MY Doctor (And He Doesn’t Charge A Thing)…
I’m ancient enough to remember seeing Tom Baker as Doctor Who on PBS here and wondering what the hell was up with that scarf and crazy behavior. Of course, next week I was back for more and so forth and so on. I still think he’s the best of the Doctors (and Sarah Jane Smith was the best sidekick in my opinion), but of course, everyone has a favorite depending on when they stepped into the series. Hell, I’m old enough to remember those movies from the 60’s, but they didn’t leave much of an impression until I decided to sit down with them again about a year or so ago. Anyway, happy 50th, Doc!
Street Fighter X Mega Man Out Now, More Blue Bomber Birthday Stuff In 2013…
Thanks to so much happening today, I almost for got all about this FREE download from Capcom (currently PC only and a mere 34MB at that). The company is also planning to give Mega man fans and even bigger treat by releasing all six classic Mega Man games on the Nintendo 3DS as digital-only downloads through Nintendo’s eShop starting December 27, 2012 and continuing on a staggered schedule into 2013. Hmmm. In addition, Capcom is planning to release some cool new Mega Man T-shirts some MM-themed Xbox 360 avatars and a few other items from now and into next year, but they’re keeping a few things under wraps to keep us all in suspense.
Hmmm… will my dreams of eventually being able to replay the Mega Man Legends series finally see some sort of reality? I guess I’ll need to keep my fingers crossed. Double Hmmm… Perhaps I should cross my toes instead, as I can’t play many games very well with doubled digits…
Street Fighter X Mega Man: Capcom Reveals All (Well, Some of All)…
Amusingly enough, I was talking to someone yesterday about fan-made indie games and this one came up, as it’s now some sort of standard in terms of a big game company like Capcom actually approving of a project like this before making sure it gets done right. Of course, the bigger story will be how well the game does with the fans once it’s let loose on December 17 as a free PC download. I say it will do well, but I’d also expect other creative fans have been flooding Capcom and other publishers with even more ideas and suggestions than they usually do. I wonder how many people come up with exactly the same ideas, write them up (and maybe do up some nice art to go with their projects) and send them off thinking they’ve struck a gold mine. Live and learn, yes indeed… but wise up at some point and create your own original content at the end of the day. Sometimes, it’s better to make a little money from all that hard work than to just keep giving away the farm for free, I say. Hey, Han Solo didn’t walk away from a cargo hold full of Rebellion credits in Star Wars (AND he later got a Princess out of it to boot)…
GTA San Andreas: “Introduction” – One of the Best 20 Minute Game Movies You’ll Ever See.
Grab a 40 (or some eggnog), pull up a chair and sit down to one of the most impressive bits of storytelling from a ten-year old video game. To some of the less respectful gamers out there Grand Theft Auto San: Andreas may be ancient “by today’s standards” (and it’s now available on PSN and Xbox Live), but Rockstar Studios created a game for the ages (whether you like the M-rated content or not). I know I put maybe 70 or so hours into the game when it was initially released on the PS2… but I still didn’t see the ending. Not for lack of trying, mind you – the memory card with my saves on it went missing and I certainly wasn’t pleased with having to restart the game from the beginning. Not that I would have minded much at all – it’s just that I had a ton of other games to review and I’ve never gotten back into San Andreas after all this time.
Well, it sure looks as if I have the chance now, hmmmm? As for y-o-u, well now, are you going to get THIS game for your favorite player, or will it be another Chia Pet or Clapper this year? C’mon, do the right thing and get this one as a gift for that (over 18, of course) gamer on your list.
