The Dark Knight Manual? “Bruce Wayne” Is Either Really Smart… Or Really Stupid.

How the heck else would you describe him after he goes and writes an actual book called THE DARK KNIGHT MANUAL that features everything you always wanted to know about being Batman, but were afraid to ask?  After some thought, I think he’s being a wee bit TOO smart here, putting all you need to create your very OWN Batcave, suits, gadgets, vehicles and more between 112 pages (with hardcovers for longevity) adding 35+ removable items and sticking it in stores this month for a mere $40. “What’s the deal?” you ask? Well, dear reader, I’d say Mr. Wayne is getting a wee bit tired of the crime fighting gig and wants a LOT of you out there to get cracking on getting into the masked vigilante business so he can enjoy his yacht, planes and champagne drinking nightlife while you do the dirty work. You, yes, YOU can be a part of the Batman franchise by… owning your OWN batman franchise!

Either that, or he’s putting out FAKE plans just to fool a few of the villains who are out to get him by making them pay just to get their hands on plans that aren’t quite the ones he’s using right NOW.  Hmmm… on the other hand, maybe “Bruce Wayne” is just the pen name of some nefarious baddie long forgotten by Chris Nolan, despite doing everything he could to get even the tiniest cameo in the upcoming soon to be blockbuster. My money is on Ali Babble, as he hasn’t been seen in a Batman comic since 1946! That’s a hell of a long time to wait around just to get some revenge! I know I’d have at LEAST Fourteen Peeves if I was left out of the canon for THAT long!

Holy Bookmobile, Batman! Er, Wait… Oh, Just Buy This When You See It.

With The Dark Knight Rises about to blast into theaters this summer, here’s a little cool reading material for you to pore over that makes for an instant conversation starter because it’s an actual BOOK, not some bunch of bits you can flick around with a pinky and cry over when some thugs swipe your e-reader or iThing on the subway. You’ll soon find out there’s NO Batman if that happens (just some cop laughing at you), but if you have this BOOK in your home, you can comfortably fantasize away on your comfy couch about wearing the cowl, cape and boots all you like. Well, until one of your friends steals the book from your house. Damn you, Joker!

Anyway, Batmobile: The Complete History is written by Mark Cotta Vaz with a Q & A foreword featuring Paul Levitz (formerly of DC Comics fame) and Nathan Crowley (the production designer on Chris Nolan’s Batman film trilogy). It’s 148 pages thick, costs $39.95, comes out this month and it’s hardcover (so you can whack someone upside the head if they try and “borrow” your tome of power), featuring over 100 illustrations and photos of Batman’s wheels from 1939 onward. You know you want this book, so I won;t stop you at all from buying it. And yeah, you want an actual Batmobile, too.  But at least ONE of those isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Besides, reading is good for you. And take that utility belt off before you sit down and poke a hole in those cushions with a Batarang or something.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Trailer: More DC Only On The PS3…

But this time, it’s not a big deal MMO I have no interest in playing (thankfully!) exclusive is a new fighting game by NetherRealm Studios (yup, the Mortal Kombat folks). This one caught me by surprise, but thinking about it, MK vs DC was pretty well received, so this not quite follow-up is going to be huge. I’m hoping we see this on the Vita as well and YES, with cross-platform play of some sort, as Sony REALLY needs to start pushing those features and developers NEED to start using them. Anyway, this looks like a ton of fun…

LEGO Batman 2 Trailer: You Can Call it “Arkham Cutie” If You Like…

Soooo, it’s an open-world game in the Arkham City vein (but not as dark, of course), AND it has fully voiced characters (for the first time ever in a LEGO game? Traveler’s Tales is doing their best work to date and sweet. I get to play this tomorrow at an event here in NYC. But, Ruh-Roh! I’ll be there with a bunch of kids and their parents around ruining my day when they have to drag their bawling offspring away from the controllers. Feh. I’m stocking up on hand sanitizer and wearing my “step away from that controller, kid!” face tomorrow (complete with a growly Chris Bale voice for good measure), is all I’m saying…. That, and staying the hell away from any snacks put out. Nothing like a plate of picked over cookies and fruit, right? Ewww… OK, breathe…. breathe…. it’s the Year of the Bat, it’s the Year of the Bat… Damn kids…

Young Justice: Legacy Announced for PS3/360/Wii/DS in 2013

Well, well… someone realizes that a LOT of gamers still play Nintendo DS games (he said, not at all facetiously). Little Orbit is teaming up with WBIE to bring a video game version of the popular cartoon series to current generation consoles in 2013. The game is an action/RPG with an online/offline multiplayer focus (which wisely means a kids in a family can play together on the couch if need be). More details and screens to come as they fly into the inbox here. In the meantime, check out the official site and Facebook page, which are both up and running, although the official site is slim pickings for a good reason – not all those character boxes? Reveals, folks.. reveals.  With a dozen playable characters, a ton of guest star cameos and a dozen villains, this is going to be fun in terms of seeing who’s going to be in the game.

Toy Fair 2012: Mimoco’s Mimomicros Make Memory Managment Much More Managable Monetarily

Mimoco’s super-cool line of original, crossover and licensed character MIMOBOT flash drives has always been a favorite of mine, but even with the price of memory dropping and USB 3.0 devices here and on the way, not everyone can afford to collect these supremely stylish USB storage solutions. The company’s MIMOMICRO line (set for a March 2012 launch) takes care of that issue entirely by allowing users to drop their own microSD cards into a custom drive that, at $12.95 makes for an inexpensive, nifty conversation piece. My favorite model from Toy Fair was The Millennium Falcon MIMOMICRO from the company’s Star Wars line. There will also be five other characters to choose from (C-3PO, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Yoda), plus a trio of DC Comics MIMOMICRO drives that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman fans will absolutely want to snap up.

If money is no object, well, you’re in luck, as Mimoco also has some sweet new MIMOBOT drives on the way, including an Albert Einstein drive that’s pretty cool and funny (kind of like the professor was, from what I’ve read about him), a bunch of original characters and more licensed drives than you can shake a memory stick at.

Alrighty then, I’ve done my part here- now, go click on one of those links above before I come up with more awful puns or another terrible title that uses the same letter to start off each word.

Speaking of Costume Reveals: Anne Hathaway As Catwoman

Hot of the heels of the new Superman costume reveal, here’s the new Catwoman for your approval. This one’s a photo from the official movie site, not one of the MANY unauthorized (but not exactly stopped from being posted everywhere) on-set pics and videos that sprung up last week revealing the new camo-patterned Batmobile and a battle between Batman and Bane (among other interesting tidbits). Still, it’s one less mystery about Nolan’s final entry in his Batman trilogy that should generate even more interest while we all wait for Summer 2012 to roll around.

‘Man of Steel’ Costume Reveal: Cavill Does The Suit Some Justice

Hmmmm… Kind of hard to make the whole costume out thanks to the lighting (and tiny picture – thanks WB!), but I say Mr.Cavill looks great in the suit. It's definitely a few steps up from the working class hipster costume from one of the three DC Comics Superman reboots, that's for sure. Not so subtle: the setting – I think it's WB noting that this new Superman movie will break the bank (I'll bet real money that's the intent behind the image)

Batman Arkham City Teaser (Yet Another Long Wait That’s Going To Be Worth It)

Well, now we know it’s next fall as far as the release date goes. WBIE may be stingy with revealing assets, but heck, that’s not going to stop the game from being as good as (or even better than) the original, I say…
