Too Much TV Can Make You Go Nuts. So Let’s Get Nuts.

OK, I don’t own a DVR here, so I’m going to be playing catch up this week with a LOT of stuff. I’m sticking with Breaking Bad and Talking Bad tonight (both are extended shows and will take up the better part of tonight), but it’s also the night that Showtime’s Homeland kicks off its third season followed by the premiere of Masters of Sex (still a coin toss as to whether or not I’ll commit to another new show). Meanwhile, on HBO… the awesome and hilariously outrageous Eastbound and Down is back from the “dead” for one final go-round on HBO, followed by Hey Ladies (which I currently don’t watch). TCM has a couple of Hitchcock flicks running all day until midnight, but as I’ve seen them all a few times, it’s all about AMC tonight. THANKFULLY, I’m not a sports fan or a network TV viewer or my poor little head will explode.

OK, back later… probably not until after midnight when I’m through processing the chaos BB is no doubt going to end on… whee.

Time For Time to Add New Friends!

Eeek. I SERIOUSLY need to (re)update my blog roll, as I’ve been crashing into new art/film/other blogs recently that are worth reading on a regular basis. Yes, feel free to bug me if I haven’t yet added your site. As long as it’s entertaining and not spammy, I’ll take a read and add if I like what I see…

Not Quite Taking Sunday Off…

Status

Ha! I’m still alive, folks. I was glued to a few other projects today, so updates have been nonexistent. That and I was sort of saving up my strength for tonight’s penultimate episode of Breaking Bad, which thankfully is supposed to be 75 minutes long (as is the final episode). I figured a few of the final eight shows would be a tad longer thanks to so much that needed to be wrapped up, so I’m happy to see the end rushing up and having enough room to breathe as things come to a close (even though a bunch of characters won’t be breathing when that final episode ends). Speaking on endings… Poor Dexter is going out with a confusing whimper with a terrible final season packed with too many characters, silly plot twists and (I can’t believe I’m saying this), TOO many killers in a truly confusing mess that seems to be every idea tossed into a big bowl, stirred around and dumped in front of the cameras. Bleh.

I still have the new season of Boardwalk Empire to catch up on, but I’m holding out until Breaking Bad is all done with. Thank goodness for HBO on Demand and what’s hopefully going to be a slow Saturday night in about two weeks…

All’s NOT Quiet on the Western Front (And It’s Defintely Noisy Upstairs!)…

OK, I’m swimming in the swamp today and motivation is kind of moderate to low, but some fresh air and a nice walk in the icky gray weather will do me some good. Unless it starts pouring rain and I catch a bad case of pnuemonia. In which case I’ll REALLY have something to write about. Back in a few hours, as I’m in the process of cobbling together a bunch of notes, strings and other things for the upcoming week. I think I’ll be back in time to pop in a quick post before I keel over into bed, but let’s play this by ear.

Today’s wisdom: Don’t keep an ear to the ground – someone will just come by and trip over your head…

Annnnd, We’re Back!

Whee. The internet issues plaguing me seem to be resolved, so yeah… time to kick some ass (mine) and take a few names (probably mine, too). Anyway, updates will be more frequent, that sale I’ve been kicking about will kick off next week (with a few surprises tossed in for good measure) and I guess I can start whittling away at the pile of backlogged articles I’ve been letting pile up to past my nose hairs. OK, let’s get rolling here…

Not A Slow Day At All, Just A Slow Connection…

Bleh, so the horror continues. I’m still poking around at a whopping 24-28mbps maximum at a few spots today, so I’m typing this post on an actual faster dial-up connection (whee?) and wondering what’s up in this area lately with broadband. Anyway, I’m behind on a ton of stuff thanks to this and I’ve a screening to attend in the early evening. I’ll try hitting a hotspot afterwards to see if I get a better connection in the city, but this is getting ridiculous. Yeah, it’s going to be “fun” when these new digital-only systems roll in after the coming generation for sure. Back in a bit with some actual updates (HOPEFULLY)…

Holy Cats… THIS Is Broadband?

What the hell did I miss? Did the earth explode and I’m the only one not on facebook and twitter babbling about it? Did the Royal Baby crawl today? What? I’ve been to three places today and EVERY single one of them, while having an “excellent” connection, is SLOOOOOOOOWER than a bunch of old coots on Rascal scooters with dead batteries at the bottom of a steep hill. So far, I’m getting a MAXIMUM of a “whopping” 18mmps where I’m at not. 18!??? WTF? Meh. Oh wait a minute, Dave. Wait a minute. We’re now at 24mbps! Wah-hoo! Er, nope. Feh. So much for my downloading of screens and such to go with the stuff I’m writing, a few games I need to get started on and some other stuff, grrrr…

Meh, I’ll hang out here a half hour or so longer than start off for the home office. I hate it when this happens. Of course, I could stroll around looking for a better signal, but my online search for that shows just two more spots close by, so I may drop in and see what happens there…

Sluggy Connections And Roadblocks Galore Still Get You Something to Read…

U-sually, I’m already updating the site with a banner (and recently, a background image), but it’ll be a day late (and a dollar short?) thanks to me being stuck on a low connection today. Boo. Well, at least I’m getting some more “productive” gaming done and I did see some cool under embargo stuff tech earlier today (some fun projectors and printers), so there’s that. OK, off to yell at something, as I just found out the intercom system is busted (thanks to it being “repaired” last week) and I just missed a package I rushed back home to get. Bleh.

Despite The Bad Stuff, I’ll Still Finish A Few Things…

As I’d already started a few posts earlier today before the bad news, I’ll actually get those in as one is my assignment for The Cinematic Katzenjammer’s Not-So-Secret Santa Review Swap in July (say that three times fast!) and the other is a more goofball Random Film of the Week chosen to reflect the stupidly hot weather we’re having here. I have some other stuff in the works as well (including a stupidly massive bunch of JRPGs to sell off on another site), but we’ll take that bit by bit based on the level of absurdity about to roll in over the next few days plus. Off to rest for a bit – I actually need to roll out of bed bright and do a ton of laundry…
