Hmmmm… Let’s see now. As much as I dislike speculation about this sort of stuff (my brain usually has better things to do with its time), I figure I may as well play along for a few minutes and get this out of the way so I can be proven wrong and get back to other, more important issues. I’d guess that we’ll see a big Battlefield 4 reveal, something very Star Wars related (and perhaps exclusive to a certain upcoming console/cable box hybrid), a lot of DLC news and maybe, just maybe something portable gamers may want to get their paws on (maybe). That is all. If I’m right, I’m pleased with this three minute forecasting exercise. If I’m wrong, well… what else is new?

Ubisoft Does A Bit of Pre-E3 Tease (or: Aisha’s Baaaaack)…
Having Aisha Tyler (from FX’s hilarious animated spy spoof Archer) host Ubisoft’s E3 press conference last year was a masterstroke, as she’s a gamer guys and gals can relate to without all that celebrity stuff getting in the way. Well, as you can see here, she’s going to be returning for this year’s show and yes, it’ll be the conference to catch just because it’ll be fun to see her take on some of the company’s upcoming lineup. Of course, Ubisoft always pulls off some major reveals, so those jokes she’s going to throw down should make a nice counterpoint to the sounds of jaws dropping in that hall and in front of computers or whatever device that event is viewed on…
Young Justice Legacy Hands-On: Teens & Titans Collide In Little Orbit’s Upcoming ARPG…
One of the nicer surprises at the Namco Bandai Global Gamers Day event was a playable build of Young Justice Legacy, set for a fall release on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS and PC (what, no Vita version?!). Fans of the show should be pleased to know that developer Freedom Factory is cooking up a fast-paced action/RPG in the vein of the X-Men Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance games featuring stylized 3D visuals and a nicely-sized roster of characters from the series. The game has a few months more cooking to do on the developer’s stove, but it’s definitely going to one of those the more dedicated fans of the currently canceled cartoon should dive right into as soon as it hits stores.
Beyond: Two Souls Tribeca Film Fest Screening: Game As Art, FIlm and All Around Masterpiece…
Previously, it was Rockstar Studios showing off Team Bondi’s L.A. Noire at this festival, but Quantic Dream’s eagerly awaited PS3 exclusive is leaps and bounds over that impressive effort. Grab a snack, out the phone on shut up mode, pull up a chair and prepare to be amazed if you’ve not seen this gameplay demo already. Including the panel discussion with David Cage, Ellen Page and others, It’s a long video, so you’ll be dipped into the game world feet first and and hear what some of the talent behind it have to say about their involvement – enjoy the ride.
Iron Man 3 Clip 3: Flying The Unfriendly Skies (But You’ll Get A Snack At Least)…
The funny thing about this clip is there’s always going to be that ONE guy in the theater when Iron Man 3 hits on May 3 with a slide rule and calculator taking measurements and tapping in numbers just so he can let out a mighty “A-HA!” afterwards and say that the scene was impossible because of the air to mass ratio times the advent of steam or something annoyingly dopey like that. People who do this at films where the goal is to sit down and let your brain enjoy the show for two hours drive me nuts. Applying arbitrary rules of reality to a genre flick such as this should get one immediately bounce ejected from a theater with a big box of Jujubes thrown at the back of that person’s head as they go sailing onto the pavement on a fresh bed of that nasty butter-flavored popcorn that’s sold at the concession stand. Yeah, it’s called a concession stand for a reason – you trade in your hard-earned bucks and in concession, you get some overly salty popcorn swimming in enough chemically laced oil to clog a whale heart. Yuck. Someone call up Tony Stark and ask him to invent a repulsor-powered organic only popcorn machine…
Iron Man 3 Updates: Clip Joint, World Premiere, And Wait… A New Game, Too?
Hmmm… you know, “Roll out the Barrel” should be playing right about now, what with Marvel in full non-stealth mode dropping all these Iron Man 3 videos. of course, they’re just doing what they need to to get fans excited (well, more excited) and non-fans reaching for the remote or finding a new site to poke around that doesn’t have ads for the film all over it. Good luck with that or even better, just embrace the madness that is marketing. Hell, it’s not as if Marvel is going to send people to your home in order to drag you to that theater…

Iron Man 3 World Tour: The Cast Gets Around, The Crowds Go Wild…
Well, these big press and fan-packed junkets are always weird and often dull as hell for the casts of these blockbusters, but you have to give Robert Downey Jr. a few metric tons of credit for doing his own awesomely quirky thing to shake stuff up. Well, reaction to the film is definitely great overseas, so that enthusiasm will no doubt carry on as the film arrives at a mega-multiplex near you on May 3. Hey, you still have time to finish that Coke can Iron Man outfit you’re working on (yeah, I know you didn’t want me to say anything, but…), so get to it! Just leave the windows open when you’re spray painting, as huffing in those fumes will do you in faster than the Mandarin with his can opener ring…
A Friendly 10 Minute Reminder From Sony…
Yeah, I figured Sony would be condensing that big PS4 meeting down to a “Hey, you better remember THIS!” video at some point, so it’s good to see that they still want your almighty gaming dollars sent their way. That said, I hope to hell they’re paying VERY close attention to Electronic Arts’ recent follies and fumbles with the new Sim City game and how ANYTHING even remotely similar happening with PSN or any digital content not getting into the paws of waiting consumers in 100% working order will be taken as Sony not being ready for prime time. We want to play our games offline and private FIRST and foremost, people. Forcing patches and updates on us, “always online” nonsense or other junk, then making crap excuses for any of it won’t do well for the PS4. Get it done, do it right and make sure we can play WHEN WE WANT TO, and you’ll be able to sleep better at night. As in it’s very hard to sleep with angry people with torches (or cell phones and tablets displaying torches, as this IS the 21st century, y’know) outside your window once a system hack somewhere reveals every SCEA exec’s home address…
Applied Design @MoMA: fLow (PS3) “Dancing Bacteria?” Well, OK…
Well, I did hear someone say that’s what the game looked like at the event, so I guess that’s how it will seem to a few people who haven’t played it. I was going to title the post “Waiter,There’s a fLow in My Soup!”, but that would mean I’d need to stop writing and go eat something, as food references sometimes make me hungry. Good thing I’m at the library here “stealing” free wi-fi time or I’d be passed out at the pizza place nearby on a cheap (but REALLY good) pie, not getting any work done and feeling not too guilty about it later on.
Applied Design @MoMA: Portal Is Actually Harder If You Start in the Middle.
Granted, I haven’t played this in some time, but it’s NOT exactly the toughest game out there. However, if you pick up a controller and try to start playing, expect to get lost fast. This level is actually really simple (I ran through it on the PS3’s The Orange Box collection just to make sure I wasn’t losing my touch), but I just dinked around for a bit so the video could be shot. Anyway, the guy who played after the next guy tried DID remember how to play and it was a good thing, as a video crew caught that fun bit of puzzle/platformer action for whatever site they were filming for… Ah, well. Hey, if they had Cosmic Ark or Thunderground there, I’d STILL be playing today…
