In addition to the Blacksad news I posted a few days back, it’s going to be a pretty busy time going forwards for Microïds, that’s for sure. Let’s see now:
Roman Rumble in Las Vegum (Asterix & Obelix XXL2) has arrived on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $29.99. This one’s a remastered sequel to a PS2 game from 2003 that first got a sequel three years later and now it lands on the consoles above sporting new visuals and a wealth of gameplay improvements over the 2006 version. New dev team Osome Studios has taken Etranges Libellules‘ work and powered it up to the next level.
I’m ancient enough to remember reading many of the old and brilliant Goscinny and Uderzo comics as a kid, so this one will be plenty of nostalgic fun and a game that’s going to be acceptable for gamers of all ages. Check out the game trailer below for what to expect (I’m cracking up because the game riffs on a number of pop culture elements here and there) Viva lost wages! This one should be fun for a few laughs. Check it out:
Switch owners get this new content for Microïds’ Gear.Club Unlimited 2 and between it and the patches that have arrived over the past few months, it’s an even better racer overall that’s coming down the road on November 14, 2019. The retail and digital release packs in all the GCU 2 content including all DLC that’s appeared for the game for a lower price point, a good thing for fans of the series looking for an upgrade. Developer Eden Studios is making sure that players have the ultimate version of the game with lots to do for its fans strapped in for quite the ride:
New contents will be added:
- A new campaign mode: the « Porsche Series » and its seasonal flow
- Mythical Porsche cars from the famous German manufacturer playable in all game modes

Speaking of racing, let’s give the kids something to do (hey, you can’t hog that console if you have kids around!):
Yep, it’s a thing and yes, a PC version will also be ready to roll out on November 5, 2019. Take a look at the art and screens below and tell me you’re not craving lasagna.

Oh yeah, you know you want it!
Clean looks aside, Artefact and publisher Microïds have the issue of releasing its game the same week as Sony’s Death Stranding, but you can still overlook that game if, say, you or your target audience is not at all interested in Hideo Kojima’s long in production epic opus of a AAA title. Actually, I can play and review both because I know both are different titles (and how!) and each one has its value at the end of the day. Although, the AAA game will live or die based on the critical eye right from the start, where Garfield’s second kart racer is going to be for some, easy fodder for a shorter while even if it’s a good or even decently made game when all is said and done. Ah, well.
To be continued tomorrow, as a few new titles are added and a few delays of others have announced by the company (Hey, it takes a while to go through everything in my inbox here).
