Here’s the second translated trailer to D3Publisher of America’s upcoming EDF sequel. It’s nice to see these rolling out in English, as they’re funnier when you can understand the campy dialog delivered with relish. I think D3 copy/pasted old press info into the YouTube description, as they note a 2013 release when the game seems to have gotten a February 4, 2014 launch date already on a few sites and Namco Bandai’s European YouTube page. Oops. Well, if it changes to this year, I’ll be a lot happier, but let’s see if this gets corrected (before I dance around the room too much again)…

I’m shocked these games don’t sell billions of copies. They are some of the most fun games I think I have ever played, handle co-op beautifully, and are incredibly difficult when you raise the difficulty. It’s a very rewarding experience to boot. This one looks just as crazy and just as awesome.

Yeah, the EDF series SHOULD be a blockbuster (I own all of them – the two Japanese PS2 games, the PSP game, the 360 game and its super-enhanced Vita “port”), but it’s never gotten the respect it deserves. For sheer replay value and content, an EDF game beats to death a ton of shorter shooters and other action games, hands down. It’s a case of people wanting the graphics to be “as good as” what last week’s hot game was, not understanding the campy stuff or appreciating the kaiju elements and a few other things… and that’s until they play one and get all “Oh snap, this is actually GOOD!” about it…
