I’m Doing A Bit of Doomsday Prepping of My Own… EDF Style!

EDF_PlusSo, Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable is coming out in a few days (1/8/2013) and I’ve been doing a bit of preparing over the last few weeks by playing a few import and US games either developed by Sandlot or similar to games they’ve worked on. Yeah, yeah, I already reviewed the import version of the game, but I think the US build fixes a few minor things and I really don’t mind playing a game that fun again (in English this time).  Especially if it’s an EDF game. Do you think I have a problem here or something? I don’t think I do. Hell, thanks to too much time playing these games, I’m long cured of any fear of insects, that’s for damn sure.

Anyway, onto the library items below the jump!

OK, my copies of Remote Control Dandy (PSOne import) and EDF 3 Portable for the Vita are out on loan this week, but I do Have Sandlot’s first two Chikyuu Bouiegun games on the PS2, EDF 3 Portable for the PSP, EDF 2017 for the US Xbox 360, as well as two of the non-EDF games they did: R.A.D. (Robot Alchemic Drive) and Tetsujin 28 for the US and Japanese PS2 respectively. As for non-Sandlot games, here’s the under-appreciated Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon (PS3 and Xbox 360 versions), Remote Control Dandy SF (which is the Konami published sequel to the PSOne game Sandlot didn’t work on), and Giant Robo, which isn’t by Sandlot, but was published in Japan by D3Publisher there.

The other games are the oddball Simple 2000 one-offs The All-Star Fighting Festival (which has Storm 1 from the EDF games in it) and Earth Defense Force Tactics, a somewhat clunky but enjoyable turn-based strategy game that could use a nice remake one day that fixes up the bad parts. It’s definitely no XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but the retro vibe shines through quite well. I still need to find a copy of Chou Shojuu Mecha for the Nintendo DS, and nope, I’m not modding my Wii to play Zangeki no Regenleiv (which NEEDS a proper Wii U remake just so it can get some HD polish, GamePad controls and a better frame rate). Yes, I may be crazy, folks… but I can at least be somewhat organized about my madness.

Back in a bit – I think I need to count bacon now…
