Got Kids? Prepare For A Moshi Monsters Moshlings Invasion on DS & 3DS

If you’ve got wee ones around ages 6 – 12 who are online savvy and enjoy a bit of allowed and supervised social game time, you’ve probably heard of Moshi Monsters, one of the latest (and hugest) virtual pet worlds online today. 65 million registered users is nothing to sneeze and and now Mind Candy is taking the fun to Nintendo DS and 3DS systems on October 30, 2012 with Moshi Monsters: Moshlings Theme Park, which looks to be one of those interesting hybrid games that lets players interact offline while also granting them access to new online content through a few fun means.

Users (or more specifically, parents of the kids who’ll be users) can pre-order the upcoming game at that link above as well as take note of special codes for the DS and 3DS games that unlock bonus areas and extra content. The DS version will have a high score function that rewards players with even more content on the main Moshi Monsters site, while the 3Ds version will make good use of the system’s Street Pass functionality with 3D mini-games. The game will pack in 60 Moshlings, including Furnado, an all-new character (with a name that makes me want to break out a vacuum cleaner, as I can just imagine a closet full of fuzz flying open and redecorating a room). Even better, each copy of the game will include a free week-long membership to MoshiMonsters.com as well as a redeemable code so users also can interact with their new Moshling on the MM website.

That almost Halloween release date makes me wonder if this is a devious way for Activision and Mind Candy to keep kids indoors this year. Maybe not, but between these two games and the massive Skylanders juggernaut, I can see a lot of kids spending what free time they do have in some pretty cool and cute virtual worlds…
