Hmmm… looks like Sega is finally going to unleash more of its arcade history on gamers soon (well, in Japan, at least). Hopefully, Sega of America and Sega of Europe are on the case in getting these out over PSN and XBLA. Personally, I’d prefer to see these all pop up on a single disc so I don’t have to worry about any online issues and heck, these NEED to be Vita and Wiiware bound at some point just because gamers who haven’t heard of these hits should absolutely be playing them. I’m betting Sega Rally is coming up next, as are some other Model 2 games not in this initial batch… it’s going to be fun seeing these roll out, that’s for sure…

I consider myself a Sega fan but I was never into these Model 2 games. It might be in part because I wasn’t in the arcades often and I’m sure that’s where these games use to really shine. That being said if these came out on disk for pretty much any system/PC I’d likely buy them… but as virtual ware I’m not interested.
But I know other fans out there will be very happy to see these and I’m happy to see that Sega is doing something with their old catalog. And they should keep it up. I just hope it wont all be virtual.

Oh, I think you LOVE Sonic the Fighters, as it’s pretty hilarious stuff. Virtua On is nice as well, but at the end of the day both are more fun as versus games. I’m actually more interested in the later Model 2 stuff like Sega Rally and some of the other Sega arcade racers as well as quirky stuff like Planet Harriers (not sure if it’s Model 2, but it’s a game I’ve always wanted to try), but I guess we’ll see what’s what as time goes on.
That said, Sega REALLY needs to just get these all out on a single disc, as I’d rather have them all than do the bit by bit DLC thing. Granted, users will have more choice as to which games they want to avoid (Virtua Striker, for example), but on a disc, I bet more people would be tempted to TRY a game they might otherwise ignore…
